it’s a shame you didn't go to kelapa kampit, east belitung and visit namsalu geosite. the scenery there is very beautiful and access is not too difficult. anyway i live there, in kelapa kampit.

The leaves, it's a "kayu jati" leaves, it's type of hardwood, kayu jati in English I believe is teak wood cmiiw The leaves commonly used as food wrapper beside banana leaves in Indonesia, because it's also have a unique aroma Oh yeah, one side of the leaves is rough, almost like sandpaper, then it's definitely kayu jati leaves
Actually tht was “daun simpor”. Locals often wrap the food using this leaf. It looks very similar to kayu jati leaves, so i get it if ppl thought tht it was kayu jati leaf. This daun simpor is very popular here in Belitung you can even find so many things named after this leaf here. Oh and the batik patterns! They’re simpor leaves too

You should go to Gantong, southesat part of Belitung, there's a replica of SD Muhammadiyah Gantong, which is a part of famous Indonesian novel based movie, Laskar Pelangi. And not far from there there's Museum Kata Andrea Hirata, the origin house of the author of the novel Laskar Pelangi. I bet you'll like it.

Hi, Rhett and Claire. I think you two guys should explore Ambon island too to get another beautiful destination especially in east Indonesia. It took 3 hours flight directly from Jakarta. You should go to Liang beach, Waai waterfall, Morea giant eel (also at Waai), downtown Ambon city for some delicious culinary like Nasi Kuning Ambon (with shredded venison or venison floss), Fried Banana with Sambal (at Natsepa), fresh seafood and their authentic traditional coffee drink. Enjoy!
The reason much people don't know about this place ( or they don't want to visit this beach even though for a local ) is 1. The distance is so far from the main city of tanjungpandan 2. So windy,penyabong beach is the area of the high seas. Actually I never seen people jumped from the stone like a Rhett doing ( I'm shocking lol ). Most people swimming from the superficial beach area,n we need to know when the safe area for swimming 3. I don't know about the condition now ( almost 4 years I didn't come n visit this beach )..but even before not much people swimming here cos its too much a jelly fish and the sea urchin into the sea water 4. Too much garbage ( I think its the most problem in so many places into the earth ) n abandoned toilet,if we talk about the toilet..damn its so scary. Its kinda the nest for ghost living with their family 5. Since not too much people come n visit the beach,we can't find the local who provided foods,drinks,n snack in the beach area for sell. Its hard to find something for your stomach when u hungry after discover this beach. Its important if u want to visit this beach,just making sure u bring the food from the city or stopped a moment to buy it in the local store You both doing a good job Rhett n Claire to discover this area. Hopefully,to the next the government would take more attention for this beautiful beach n ask people to come PS : not to far from this area you actually can find some private n fancy resort into the jungle. People said david beckham n his family,leonardo di caprio,n lionel messi have been come n stay over there,but the media didn't know about that
