    I really liked how the moment between 1 foot and the chirp on the ground was nearly simultaneous...

    It sure looks like the wheels/tires would be in the 120 cone. I need to check my S-21, but I think any place between the gear legs is going to place the wheels within the cone.

    hopefully when I'm sitting on reserve as a wide body captain, I'll finally have the time and money to build a sling TSI. These plans look so cool.

    Is it possible to suppress it on the GDU? Or only with the discrete input?

    Very nice! I couldn’t see from the video but does it display the RA on the PFD?

      Yes, a box pops up under the altimeter tape showing the AGL.

    How does it deal with uneven areas and obstacles (trees, buildings, etc.) ahead of the runway?

      it only tells your current position relative to the ground below you.

      I was wondering the same, so if there's trees at the approach end, does it sense the tops of the trees as height agl?

    I love the idea of this, but I've seen a couple of examples of this, including right from Garmin. The distance to ground is not what the G3X is showing. Are there adjustments that can be made in the panel, or is it just more important to listen to the GHA-15? Going from 50 to 20 then10, 5, 3, 1.... Seems like a weird sequence. Just my initial opinion. I think I want one anyway. Great content as always! 👍

    • @MidwestPanels
      @MidwestPanels  11 месяцев назад

      The AGL height is showing just below the altimeter tape.
      The sequence is what you get, there are options for less call outs.

      @@MidwestPanels What's the lead time on ordering one? And does it come complete with everything you need to install? The harness you showed doesn't look like it would reach the panel from the bottom middle of any plane.

    • @MidwestPanels
      @MidwestPanels  11 месяцев назад

      @@dh-flies they are out to October right now. the harness we show in the video is for our Sling customers that have our tail harnesses in it and not intended for all airplanes.
      We can assist you but we would need to know more about your plane.

    • @MidwestPanels
      @MidwestPanels  11 месяцев назад

      Though we have not tested it, radar altimeters do work over water. The biggest challenge will be mounting it where the floats do not pick up on it.

    I think you just confirmed that this device isn’t really compatible with float-rigged aircraft.

    • @MidwestPanels
      @MidwestPanels  11 месяцев назад +1

      Depending on the plane the floats could be an issue but if you can place it further back on the tail to clear them it may work.

    I truly enjoy your videos but I believe you do your company a horrible disservice by focusing on metal airframe (and Slings in particular) installations. How about those of us who fly fiberglass composite aircraft and refuse to accept antenna (and other) protrusions on the outside of our airframes?
