I just got a new GF3, seems to have all the same issues, also I love how there was a QC card with the inspectors name zip tied to the trigger guard as if they actually inspected it. I couldn't even get 15 rounds through it, fails to close the chamber after every shot.
I know, right! I hope the person that inspected mine gets written up. Mine doesnt take ANY mags other than the ONE that it came with. I called customer service and was sent a video on how to file mags to get them to fit. I explained that a gun that requires custom fit mags is NOT a working gun. They said try what the vid says and if it didnt work THEN theyd send me a return slip. I called back and the suoervisor sent me a return slip the next day.
I just got mine this week, does the same thing, its a single shot until they respond and offer a fix. I could do it but they need to know what they are sending out.
@@icebergo6 same problem for me too, brand new AK-P. Ordered a PSA AK-P, it only works and cycles rounds with the unbranded magazine that came with it. I tried 6 different Magpul P Mags and you have to force the magazines in, then it jams on every round or 2-3 rounds. Sent it back to Palmetto State Armory for repair, they said they didn’t find anything wrong with it. Waiting to receive it and test it out. Don’t they test it out before they sell it?
I know this is a older video but one way I check how good the ak bolt slides is,hold the trigger and rack it so the disconnector holds the hammer down and that's usually enough to get good Clarence to slide the bolt up and down the whole rail.
Thanks for the video. I have a century and was having many problems one of which was the extractor claw which I didnt know how to go about fixing or if I should resurface it. I can see that my Egyptian is clearly different and works like butter. So now i know I should just replace it. Maybe I'll order an Egyptian extractor. Thanks for the video sir.
The firing pin on my PSA GF3 was short and inadequate to punch the primers. Bought two new ones (good to have a spare) from a different AK Builder and now the rifle goes bang every time. No other issues found.
I bought a GF3 a couple months ago and have put ~150 rounds in. I recently just stated looking it over to see how it's holding up and I'm seeing rust around rivets on the outside of the receiver and especially around the the rail adapter. But generally in lots of areas where two pieces of metal lay on top of each other, both inside and outside the receiver. This rifle has never been rained on or been wet EVER. And I live in one of the driest states in the union, so humidity really isn't a factor. And no corrosive ammo, only Tulammo, wolf and Barnaul ammo. I started researching this and there's a post on reddit with someone experiencing the same thing. Someone said in the post somthing about the manufacturing process, and some type of salts that are used or are a by product in manufacturing of the gun that is not cleaned off before assembly and shipping. I watch another video where a guy was describing when he received his GF3, that the plastic piece PSA places on the charging handle for shipping had rust in it and rust was on the handle itself that he buffed off... I don't know man... I'm pretty bummed. Any thoughts, have you experienced this personally or know anyone who has ? I appreciate your time spent in responding. Thanks
Hey man I know this is a month old but I just got my psak 47 in yesterday and there was slight rust in the ejection side so I opened it up and there’s rust fucking. Everywhere. The piston has rust the recoil spring is 90% covered in rust. Sides of the interior of the receiver has rust. The bolt seems to be alright but I didn’t get a chance to inspect it very well. Not to mention I’m experience the same problems this guy is in the video.
I think there is this notion with a lot of US manufacturers that the AK is crude and easy to replicate . When you own a bad example it teaches you so much about the AK in terms of metallurgy, dimensions and geometry . My century was an exercise in frustration and lessons on what a good AK is... and isn't . You want to buy a US produced product , but sometimes a good parts kit build is better. PSA does seem to make changes in production when need be .
This is all true. Luckily PSA does listen to the consumers, and does ALOT of good R&D. they are constantly upgrading. Good import parts kit is your best option for sure on an ak
Got one of the gf5 and no joke took me 45 mins to get the dust cover back on was looking at different vids to make sure I was doing it right proceeded to get pissed when I watched you do it effortlessly and basically punched the top of the dust cover and it just slips back in place 🤣
@Grizzlyman420 as soon as I got it broke in the issues with the dust cover went away ! As far as an overall review, I've probably put well over 2-3k rounds through it and I don't believe I've had a single malfunction of any kind ! Fantastic rifle would totally buy another
@@stanleykruse3037 dude that’s awesome! I’m only 300 rounds in but only issue was I had a spent case stuck in the chamber. I used the cleaning rod to get out and shot more after it happened no issues. I will continue to shoot it. I’m a zastava and WBP guy but kinda went out on a limb with this GF5 🤷🏼♂️ imports and getting pricier and pricier so I keep those put away and wanted something to beat on.

I just got one and I just noticed that in regards to the action almost immediately. It was incredibly hard to cycle it on top of it missing the slant break and the cover on the bottom of the grip being missing.
My PSAK-47 ejects fine, in fact sends the cases flying about 20 feet. My issue is the bolt jams onto an improperly fed round. Literally have to slam the handle backwards about 8-10 times to free the bolt/round and clear the rifle. Looking at it tomorrow and trying to get ideas. Thanks. I figured it out. The bolt looks to have been improperly hardened, it had built up a tooth in two areas where it stops in the carrier. Filed it smooth, works perfectly. Question is, for how long.

This is early version. GF3 is what Rob Ski Ran to 5k - no issues. GF3 at Battlefield: Las Vegas - converted to full auto. Ran 17,025 rounds and only pulled when some rounds would keyhole once it got really hot. Otherwise all parts were fine - nothing replaced. It is the real-deal US AK -finally! Chrome-lined barrel out soon (GF4).
I have a brand new PSA-GF3 AK 47. It jams when loading the first round EVERY time I refill the clip. Essentially it starts to load the round and gets stuck. I'm using Golden Tiger rounds. Only 90 rounds have gone through this gun. The action is very catchy going back and forward. This is extremely upsetting. I cannot believe PSA shipped me a rifle that doesn't even work correctly when brand new. I made the choice to purchase this one because of the AKOU 5000 round review. Big mistake. PSA should be ashamed for such poor quality control.
That's a normal AK issue, hanging up on the hammer. Some people fix that by smoothing it out with sand paper, easy to do. RUclips has videos on it. Other just shoot 1k-2k rounds through it and it'll smooth out.
@@bryanbriseno9299 I had sent mine back to PSA and they fixed the problem. It runs flawlessly now. On the report they stated that they didn’t find anything wrong with it. But clearly there was something wrong and they fixed it. Maybe it just needed some adjustments or needed to be broken in or something. You should call them about sending it back for repairs.
Thanks for the video. We have a Gen2 billet block one. About 1000 rounds through it with no problems. They are now on the gen4. I wonder if the trunnion broke how they would replace it though since I assume they have no more billet ones? How would they replace yours since I believe yours is cast. For the money I’m satisfied with the quality.
My Psak-47 GF3 did the same thing yet it always shot and ejected. My PSA-103 Jammed 2nd shot yet hasn't jammed again. Maybe early tight tolerances before breaking in for us? How much did you shoot it at the time?
I was thinking of getting the psak 47 gf3 after seeing the AK operators union 5000 round stress test review on one and it performed great so your video definitely put a downer on that but then again this video is on the first generation isn't it I heard that the first and second generation had a plethora of problems but I guess they finally got their act together on the 3rd generation by actually getting hammer-forged trunnion bolt and bolt carrier the generations before were cast so idk if that had something to do with it

David Rivera I didn’t mean I always carry them and I’m not saying you will need them just in that platform you should have a spare part any of your weapons you chose for your “go to war guns” you should have spare parts and know how to fix it. And with the AK it’s very easy to fix

If they are in the least bit a reputable company they would possibly replace the internals with all 3rd gen parts, heck they may even send you a new complete gen 3 rifle. Literally none of the gunshops here in North Idaho(gun shop capital of the world/no really) will carry psa new or traded in rifles. A few have dust bins with psa stickers on them. 😬. They say PSA is one of those companies that knows how to market really well. I got a zastava M70 zpap and they are truly top tier. Hope you fixed yours for good!

@@DavidDoingLife I watched your video, check your extractor claw and also check to see if the ejector is pushing out far enough into the bolt face to eject the spent casing. It appears to me like the ejector maybe your problem.

Major regrets for buying mine. I’ve got 140 rounds through it and am not happy. Today on 100 rounds of Sellier Bellot ammo I had two stove pipes, the first time out I only got 40 rounds through it and had over 12 non ejectors or stove pipes. This is my first AK and first PSA and I’m fairly new to firearms. My only other experience is with my Sig M400 switchblade and on at least 600 rounds I’ve never had one issue so I guess I got spoiled lol. Wondering what to do ? Sell it or is it just getting broken in or have a gunsmith look at it. 😢 The kicker is I just bought 849 bucks worth of S&B ammo for it
Uhg. I bought a GF3 a few months ago and haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. Just for kicks I tried to cycle the weapon and was surprised to see my brand new gun is unusable. You can not get a round to chamber from the magazine AT ALL. I've always thought PSA was a good company but this is ridiculous for a brand new gun to be sent out in this condition. I guess now we know why their blem guns don't appear to have any blems. They sell it as a blem when what they really mean is it looks great but doesn't actually work. Thanks for nothing, PSA.
Pretty sure that they can make a new firearm with the same serial number as long as they destroy the original, but it's been years so I can't be 100% certain. Then again this is ATF so they can change their mind fast.
That is possible ^, but large manufacturers alot of times do not want to go through the trouble of duplicating a serial number. They will just grab another off the shelf, send it to you, and mark the other as destroyed. All depends on how they operate, and what stage of production that they serialize their frames.
@@GunsWithGage Agreed. I heard of it with Glock which makes sense, easier to have a plate customized and dropped into a polymer mold then it is for Sig to custom engrave it onto the frame.
Century did that with my C39 micro . It's last time in they replaced the entire receiver and used my original serial number , most of the parts, including FCG were replaced as well .
My Russian Mosin Nagant ran 5 rounds then Jammed by failing to extract on every round. It really makes me question the build quality on such a simple design. Then I realized my extractor was sheered. It really makes me question the metallurgy. Then I put a new(old stock) extractor in it and it ran flawlessly. Absolute Junk. Put Nugget trash rods in the trash where they belong.
Thats bs you shouldn't have to file or do anything to your brand new rifle besides shoot and cleaning it. Id send it back or make them send you a new bolt and you send this one back. That's not just a tiny scrape, it looks pretty substantial and in a bad spot

Got a psa akp at the beginning of the year and I've got the same issues. It sucks because it seems like a fun gun to shoot.

Honestly, I'd go for it. But the PSAk47 is the ONLY USA made ak that id worth buying. They are very good quality.

The GB2 ak is the generation 2 and it is a great ak you just always should have spare ejectors and firing pins

I opted for a wasr it has served me well American AK's just don't cut the mustard.
This^ The PSA ak is the only one i would recommend if someone is dead set on an american ak. Otherwise, Imports are the only way.

My Russian Mosin Nagant ran 5 rounds then Jammed by failing to extract on every round. It really makes me question the build quality on such a simple design. Then I realized my extractor was sheered. It really makes me question the metallurgy. Then I put a new(old stock) extractor in it and it ran flawlessly. Absolute Junk. Put Nugget trash rods in the trash where they belong.

Thats bs you shouldn't have to file or do anything to your brand new rifle besides shoot and cleaning it. Id send it back or make them send you a new bolt and you send this one back. That's not just a tiny scrape, it looks pretty substantial and in a bad spot
