I am dumbfounded at just how bad this thing is. Let's compare it to the DCS, since that's it's most comparable competition: If hitting the chest on Devs, the DCS kills in 5 hits. This lets it kill 3 Devs per mag. The Accelerator needs two bursts to kill Devs with chest shots, so it kills ONE. Things get even worse when hitting headshots: the DCS can one-tap heads, so it kills 15 if your aim is perfect. The Accelerator, on the other hand, kills a whopping three. And that's not even considering the fact that it requires at least two of those shots per burst to hit the head, not just one. They needs to bump the damage up big time. It should be 350 per SHOT, not per burst. It'd be a powerhouse, but it'd also be extremely poor for chaff clear--the DCS and Dominator would be able to clear chaff much better, but would trade single-target damage for that.
Yeah, it sucks absolute ass. Then there are RUclipsrs, saying it’s unter their Top 3 choices for Automatons?? Like BRO pretty much every weapon is better that this pos.

In most cases during Killzone: Mercenaries, you would likely want to take a gun thats not the VC39 (The guns actual designation) due to its very inefficent time to kill and the fact its not silent. There wasn't many reasons to use it in Killzone other then the novelty, but in Helldivers it has a chance to redeem itself as a genuine option with time.
Yeah effectively it only has 24 shots the way it is now 8 mags with 3 burst shots each. Basically, it runs out of ammo to fast. I like the damage but its not worth taking. I do like the WASP though it rocks
The sniper rifle is based on the VC39 Accelerator Rifle from Killzone Mercenary and it functions quite similar, being needing to be charged and firing in 3 round bursts. It's been so long since i played Mercenary so i forget the actual mag size of the gun but i think it also had a low ammo count. The only difference in Mercenary the gun had heavy armor pen due to its explosive rounds so if there is a change i would like Arrowhead to do is give back it's heavy armor pen for the gun in Helldivers 2.
It did have very poor ammo economy. In most cases it wasn't worth taking since maps in mercs were small, with relatively short sight lines. Plus anything you could kill with this sniper could also be put down faster with the other ones, and ammo wouldn't be too big an issue.
Just increase the ammo per mag from 9 to 15 to make it 5 burst per mag. Buff the damage from 116 to 260 with increase in aoe. This will one shot any medium enemies decreasing the frequency of reloading
It fits with its Killzone incarnation, where its strong but not so strong it punches straight through the armor of tanks and heavy infantry. It makes me nostalgic.
If they made it low recoil and not a burst, I think it would be hard competition for the DCS and AMR. However, as it stands, I don't really see its place in the lineup. The AMR is high recoil, high damage, and low ammo, the DCS is medium recoil, high damage (respectively) and has decent ammo. Both of them can also accurately target weak points. This new one seems to not do anything especially well or better than the other offerings. I love the idea of a sniper purifier/scorcher though. I think it just needs a few tweaks.
I tried it vs the bots and illuminate, and I think it does the same single target as like the purifier, but with less explosive dmg. Not bad I don't think. Not sure how I like it taking 3 ammo per shot though.
The lack of explosive damage might explain why the purifier can kill overseers in two charged shots anywhere on their body, compared to the sniper needing 4 shots (a full burst and the first shot of the 2nd burst) to their torso.
I am so close to loving this weapon if it were to fulfill its intended purpose just a LITTLE bit better. I’m taking either an increase to AP and/or damage, or a fire mode switch for better ammo economy or just something that makes it feel more like a SNIPER rifle. The gun looks like a tech rifle from Cyberpunk 2077 so it has that going for it
It's ok against Heavy Devastators. I recommend the Diligence Counter Sniper if you're a good shot. You'll take out far more bots landing a few headshots, have a faster reload, and the ammo pool will go further.
What arrow head should do with this sniper. Is keep the charge up mechanic. But also be able to shoot it without having to charge it. Kinda like the loyalist. But instead. Add the option to switch from semi and burst. While when having it on semi, the gun should be a little stronger since it'll be combining 3 shots into one. I'd think that'd be cool. Instead of having it only charge up 3 burst.
It does not one shot the shield and spear overseers. I was excited to use a new sniper. Thought it would have the power of a high-precision red mist making beast buuuuut no. Highly disappointed but still grateful for the awesome addition of the illuminate.
It's a scorcher-sniper So far, it's quite good against the squid's Overseers, which takes two bursts to kill. Though considering both the Scorcher, Purifier AND Loyalist do the same with less shots, I don't see the point - apart from the fact that it has better range maybe. It's cute, but nothing amazing as of yet. Unless I'm missing something?
Add a single shot mode. Or at least let low charges/taps fire only one shot ala the Purifier. Do that and up the damage for single shots and it should be a fair alternative to the DCS
those are classed as marksman rifles in the game. not sure how they are distinguishing them exactly but the only """sniper""" in the game prior to this was the AMR
Diligence is light armor pen and a marksman rifle. Counter sniper would classify but the game considers it a marksman. Eruptor has a limited range which by the way the scope out zooms. Meaning it's scope ranges past its hard set detonation limit. Which is criminal. The dominator is the furthest thing from a sniper. While hard hitting its only real comparison is accuracy otherwise. No long range scope or even high velocity. The shots are very slow. Only up side to them is they fly perfectly straight. We need actual snipers more like the counter sniper. God forbid they put a scope on the constitution and give it good stats as a variant making a good bolt action sniper.
It needs Heavy adjustments. Ist just a worse scorcher/whatever the other weapon is called. Just give it more damage or armor pen or bigger mag or at the VERY LEAST a stronger single firing Mode.

I think they could change it so the max default mag amount is 5 but have 15 bullets in one mag so 5 burst with one mag would make it solid weapon

It /can/ 1 burst devastators. You just have to be stupid accurate with all 3 shots in the burst. It's not consistent by any means, but you can do it.
Imo if it had a single fire high velocity round for headshots.
And the burst if you needed "burst damage" I'd have no gripes.

cn probably one burst a dev if you land all three shots from a burst in the mid section. Also I dunno if this gun has a good bit of damage drop off
