@willmallory9085 I'm clearly a black woman, and a few Europeans still shouted "OBAMA!!" at me while I was overseas during his presidency. They said it with a big smile, in a celebratory way. Funny Story: I live in burbs of Philly (97% white ... I'm black). One day I drove up to my home and a white man who was canvassing the neighborhood for some politician was leaving my driveway... as I drove into MY driveway the dude asked "Can I help you?" (Like I wasn't supposed to be there) ... I replied "Can I help you! This is my house". #TheBlackExperience 😂
I became a professor at 27 and I look very young. When I was walking across campus while in grad school someone approached me and asked if I needed help for freshman orientation. They thought I was 18. I have had so many similar situations. The most obvious was another young black female nursing student. I could see the hate on her face and the attitude in her voice from day one. She went off on my in one of the classes and said that I just taught them something wrong and that I needed to explain this to her. She mentioned that her theory professor taught her something else (most professors are white). As her lab professor, I remained calm and kindly corrected her by pulling up the information that her theory professor taught (I teach the same theory class also). She looked so foolish and ashamed that she left the class. Usually it’s my white older students. Or administration when I go to ask for something and they tell me to ask my professor. I always have to respond, “I am the professor”
And don't give us those commercials featuring a white man with a Black woman as a couple like we need a white person to make us look affluent or going somewhere...give me a black man and a black woman...married and that's good enough coz then commercials like that .......it's never a black man with a white woman ..it's always a white man with a black woman
I'm a professor as well. Sometimes, my older students refer to me by my first name. I try not to dwell on the isolated incidents. I say, congratulations to you a wish you much success. Keep up the good work! Your students who appreciate you outweigh the entitled and standoffish ones. 🎉🎉🎉

PERFECT TIMING! I spent yesterday in a science conference. Among the 23 scientists speaking of their research, there were the usual Chinese and east Indians. But I was so pleased to note that 6... SIX of the 23 were young people of our community!
no one has a problem with black folks being successfull, but there is a group within the group that a lot of people including black folks have a problem with.

My daughter gets this a lot. She’s black in her twenties, successful, home owner drives a nice car. Cops stop her all the time asking for license and insurance. She’s too young and BLACK to be driving a car like that. When they find out it’s hers lol nice car what kind of job do u do. My daughter always say an honest 13 hours a day shift 😂🤣😂🤣
@Angela-qc1ex wow, that is unfortunate. I tend to have an older person from the caucus mountains be my mouthpiece for real estate. Same thing for appraisals; make it appear as if a Caucasian person lives there for the real value of the home.
We can't be stopped, 8 rental properties deep and 3 of them are all cash with no mortgage, so we are coming for what God said we are entitled to abundance!!!
Remember when I was over a friend house and their parents told me I don’t act black…🤨 I asked them, “what is acting black?” That my parents raised me to be a decent human being like any other responsible human and whatever they think acting black is , it just made up propaganda to many others fall for. Should of seen the looks on their faces 🤭
I remember getting pulled over while I working a second job. The officer asked how could I afford such a nice car. I told him I work! I am truly proud of the young generation! Go forth and conquer!! Make em mad!!
It threatens everything they tell themselves about us. In their delusional minds everything that's happened to us is for our own benefit. If we can do on our own, you know like the freed slaves did immediately it shows how they've always lied about what we are capable of. So it's got to go in their eyes. Ain't a new phenomenon it's damn near the American way by now.
It's called fear because no matter what they do, we overcome and outshine. 💯 Now that Black men and women are seen as the prizes we are, others fear they will be seen as less desirable. ☺️
I see this on Instagram. I love animals and when I wonder onto a page clearly named something lime blk people and pets they are in there judging. One post got them so upset because the girl said she is testing her dogs blackness. They were walking and she yelled who dee who. The dogs turned around and she said yep, still blk. The pitch forks came out.
That part! Left a car dealership because I wanted to buy a brand new car cash for my hubby & that YT girl talking bout some financing options, paystubs etc before she even asked me how I was going to purchase. Took my business elsewhere. In 2024 and beyond-I’m standing in and on business and ain’t fooling with folks and their prejudices!
Most people finance their vehicles. That's not prejudice to assume you would finance the vehicle. It's prejudice to assume you wouldn't qualify for financing.
Most people of all demographics finance cars when purchasing from a dealer though. That may be why she started out talking about that, unless there's more to the story. I purchased a car about 10 years ago and they were surprised that I brought my own financing bc most people go with dealer financing.
Just so I am clear, what is the percentage of people who pay for cars with cash? Everything aint racist its a numbers game, 90 percert of blacks want financing.. jeez
that bs and you know it in this day n age. You be same folks that be support the ignorance in the black community, calling important career lame and wonder why people in this day n age look us the way we are. Preach, Shuler! A group of us Black bankers were standing in the bank lobby waiting for other Black bankers so that we could go to a lunch meeting together. A white banker walked by and said something about us looking like a powerful group. Interesting. All of us just looked at each other and wondered out loud what that was all about. Some folks get nervous when they see a bunch of Black people together whether we're professionally dressed or not, and whether we're professionals or not.
@@marcellmonroe5727 All of us were wearing suits; the men and the women. Plus, the guy making the remark knew who we were, because we worked for the same bank.
Yes I am actually shocked that this is still happening in 2024. We live on a street with 7 houses. My wife and I are the second black family to purchase there. The older couple in the first house told the sellers of our home that the 1st black family were probably drug dealers. “It’s the only way they could afford the house”. Mind you they are working Professionals from Kenya. Nursing and Accounting. The Kenyans were so happy when we moved right next door to them. God only knows what they were saying about my wife and I. Smh….there are countless more encounters of people being shocked in this day and age that black folks lead normal and sometimes exceptional lives.
Lol! Well I saw a co-worker driving in my neighborhood and she almost broke her neck when she saw me. I didn't understand why. Our neighborhood is very diverse and she's an immigrant too (from an African country, I think it's Malawi). I just thought it was funny how even some immigrants think BP are just a bunch of hoodrats. The Kenyan nurse and I had a good chuckle over this woman's arrogance. We all have the same title too. She's already had her humbling experience😂.
Why move into an all white neighborhood tho? There are always nice middle class and affluent black communities in every city. Seems like yall willing to endure mistreatment to be in proximity to whiteness.
I've known this for awhile--but yes, there are folks who not only don't believe that this demographic exists, but fear this demographic with all their heart!
My neighbors stared at us when we moved into the neighborhood. It took them almost a year to say hello. Only one couple really talked to us. They thanked us for buying the house because it brought their property value up.
@@Roccofan As a collective We own 0.01% of the gross national wealth in this country it's been that way since slavery. Look it up. Black business folk have always been here. What to consider is, what resources do they have access to and how does U.S. media portray black Americans? Thinking African Americans only exist as negative stereotypes is closer to white supremacist rhetoric.
It happened to me and my wife , this white real estate agent told us that house we wanted to check out is no longer on the market. We drove out there just to find out it was lie. We got to a wonderful sister. She was available and professional . Two months later we both a beautiful house.
Excellent point! As black professionals the most likely place to guarantee that you're getting the right help is another successful black professional.
@pennydink72 I'm an African American real estate agent. A majority of the black realtors that I knew have quit. I'm usually the only black realtor in the rooms. I keep trying to get more blacks to become realtors, but they won't budge. Then I tell them to stop complaining if you don't want to be part of the solution!
@@domesticviolencemastery3609 I have so many questions 😂 Why are black realtors quitting? Does it have anything to do with recent changes in the law? Are they themselves facing discrimination? Are you implying something else? And why do you deem black people who don't want to become realtors are part of the problem of (presumably) housing discrimination? Is it not acceptable that black people may want to pursue other professions? Are black lawyers or executive part of the problem? Are black realtors, by that same logic, part of the problem of discrimination in healthcare because they are not black doctors?
@lailas.3205 Because they complain and don't want to be part of the solution! That's my opinion and my experience. Being that I've been a realtor for eight years. They were doing it before all of the recent changes.
When I tried to buy my condo in a high end neighborhood the white property manager said the condo was NOT available and was only available for rentals. Of course I put two and two together and bought the condo anyway.
We are RISING and thanks for covering this ....I remember pulling up at a gas station and I came out of my porsche and that 70yr old white man looked at me like how the hell can you afford that this does happen for sure. LET'S KEEP RISING YA'LL.
Right on Shuler 👏🏾👏🏾. I live in a high end section in DC. I was speaking with a colleague at work, this "pale" jumps in our conversation and said "wow" My husband and I were looking at that area to buy a home, it is really expensive. Bish, I know what you are implying, "I'm an attorney", and you're just an executive assistant . How can you afford that neighbor. Looked her dead in the face and said, "wow" to bad for you, it's a great neighbor. She got the hell away from me. The nerve of some of them SMDH.
You better preach! That's where me and my husband are now...people looking at us like something wrong with us because we're a responsible, successful Black couple. 10 year anniversary is next month too.
Sometimes it's our own community. I am a frugal shopper and I enjoy shopping at the Dollar Tree and the 99 cents store. Several years ago when entering a 99 cents store a woman was set up inside the store giving away free phones. She was black and saw that I was black and asked me if I wanted a phone. I told her no, thank you. She kept trying to get me to get it stressing how it was free and I could choose from a variety of phones. I explained to her that I didn't think I qualify for that program that gives free phones. I made too much money. Now without going into my situation I'll just say I was in the Air Force previously and I have a MBA. She gave me the nastiest look like I thought I was better than her. I don't think I'm better than anyone, I just knew I didn't qualify for that program that was for a lower income than what I had. Sometimes people without our own community judge us and expect us to have nothing. While we collectively say we want to see successful black people and have successful black leaders, do we recognize that everyone has a different story? Do we fall victim to our own bias of each other?
These are all great questions. Caucasians are not the only ones who have been indoctrinated and whitewashed. Many of us are to each other. Well, too many anyway. The best thing to do is ignore, pardon, and keep thriving despite the ignorance and immaturity faced ya know.
They would feel the pressure to do the same, and know they're not "standing on business", like they should. Me? I hope you excel and do well--I may not have the same drive or inclination to do the same, but perhaps one day I can be there and help what you've put together, develop further.
I went to Atlanta for an eye appointment at America's Best. The entire medical staff was black. The receptionist was a white male, the only white person on staff. I was so proud of my people that I had to shed some tears 🤗

This is how I see it, I pray… when God says yes nobody can say no! If God doesn’t open up the door for that specific thing, he has something better. And this is one reason (out of many), why I stay close to God❤️❤️❤️
Exactly, this is why there’s such a fight to get Donald trump back in The White House. Because, the perception is he’s going to stop all this and “MAGA”
Yet there are some blk people lining up to vote for him. This is if God doesn't suck the life out of him before that day comes. Evil can only last for so long.
Some agents don't even call you back. I watched a property/land sit for a few months and never received a call back. Neither I nor my husband could get a response. We knew what time it was. smh! We just let it go.

You are preaching Shuler some of them still can't believe we know how to read. Sad that we work so hard to get the nice things in life just to be judged & placed in a box because some people are hateful & jealous.
I had a neighbor (from across the street) who never spoke to me/engaged me/waived back....she walked into my duplex (did not knock nor ring the doorbell) while contractors were onsite doing repairs and asked them if the unit was for sale or if they were getting it ready to rent. When I returned to the property early that evening, the contractors informed me of what happened. It was unwise and rude for her to walk into my property uninvited. Secondly, she could have encountered danger by just walking in. I knocked on her door, introduced myself as her neighbor from across the street and the owner of the duplex property. I told her what the contractors told me she did earlier in the day. And, I told her to never enter my property without permission again or I will call the police on her. I also told her to never inquire with any serviceman, contractor or anyone performing work or providing a service at my property about the status of their work nor my property. I told her that in the future if she is curious about anything related to my property, that she is to ask me and only me and I will determine if I feel compelled to inform her.
People who are like that struggle with who they really are. They see how their own people are not living up to standards and feel jealousy, envy, and anger. Then they set-up the system to make it "Fair" for all people. We know better and we are prepared with our own lawyers, doctors, and the like. We are not alone.
How about you stop thinking like they even care about what you have going on. Every second you think about them thinking about you is a second you’re not progressing to another milestone.

And don't give us those commercials featuring a white man with a Black woman as a couple like we need a white person to make us look affluent or going somewhere...give me a black man and a black woman...married and that's good enough coz then commercials like that
.......it's never a black man with a white woman ..it's always a white man with a black woman
Love it,love it love it! Tell them everytime,I AM the professor..So powerful..Peace,love and continued prosperity Queen ✊🏿🙏🏾
I'm a professor as well. Sometimes, my older students refer to me by my first name. I try not to dwell on the isolated incidents. I say, congratulations to you a wish you much success. Keep up the good work! Your students who appreciate you outweigh the entitled and standoffish ones. 🎉🎉🎉
@@KaElSah yep! Me too! I treat it as I do most people and situations. If you have a problem with me that’s your problem not mines. God has a way of humbling people right in front of me to see when I let him take care of it. They just end up being really kind or avoidant afterwards.

That part!
Everything aint racist its a numbers game, 90 percert of blacks want financing.. jeez
The more successful we get the more racism we experience.

Yes. Goodness.
Facts!
Paranoid. Thats an old wives tail. That only happens in affluent neighborhoods. Your are a peasant it does not apply.

It has been like this for years. It makes them very uncomfortable when you know what want, know more thn tem and can do it better.

Hell no, these particular blacks are oreos. Most of them.
What's so crazy is there are also other black people that don't want to see other black people come up.

You are absolutely correct.
