I'm going this frustration right now with the ToneX One. That is auditioning dozens and dozens of captures. The one good one I've found thus far in the standard free package is the Matchless DC 30. I did want to find a good Fender Deluxe clean. Tone Junkie seem to have some really good ones. But in general, clean captures tend to be very hard to get enough gain to get to the edge of break up or get them loud enough. I did like some of the free non IK AC30's. Will like to try WT AC3O versions.

You don't need they stereo, just insert the tone in the loop of hx stomp or ampero or any multi and the sound si amaizing and stereo, priceless for that sound worth it!

These tones all sound nice, very usable for sure. WT patches are hard to beat. I’ve had their Bethel patch (Helix) for awhile and have tweaked it (mostly EQ) for all of my different guitars. I would like to get David H’s patch and probably will next time it goes on sale… just to compare. Thx, good job 👍🏽
What IRs do you use? I did the same thing with that same preset and made it my own sound with tweaks and using different effects. But I did change the IRs to David Hislop bethel patch ir’s. Wondering how good TM ir’s would pair with it 🤔
@@BlackWolfTribe - for the WT Bethel patch, I’m actually using the new (ver 3.5) Helix cabs. To be honest I have made so many changes to the orignal patch it’s really not the WT version except for the basic snapshot layout and global functions.

I have a question about TONE X. Is this input only mono? or is it Stereo since I want to buy one to run at the end of my stereo chain but I would like to anticipate if the input does accept TRS plugs
This pedal only accepts a MONO input, so you cannot run this at the very end of your stereo chain. I put my stereo wet effects AFTER this pedal. It has stereo outputs because it does have built-in stereo reverb if you want to use it (which I am not). It’s very unfortunate in my opinion and one of the main drawbacks of this device. I would have to purchase two of these to do what I really want to do with it.

I’ll be getting my second ToneX pedal soon so I’ll let you know my thoughts then. Both the FM9 and a pedalboard with ToneX are great options. Certainly there’s more flexibility with the FM9 though

Tone Factor's captures are slightly darker by default just because of how they captured them. However, I think you can discover, the more time you spend with them, that because they're darker they actually sit in a mix in a more pleasing way. You can also use brighter verbs and brighter overdrives to get some of that clarity back. But if you still want something brighter, my captures are slightly brighter and I have some similar amps as what they offer.

I have an HX Effects and rund a Tonex in the Loop. It sounds much better than the amps in Helix Native. Takes in Pedal drives from the HX quite well. Takes a bit of tweaking though to get things right for your setup. I really prefer my setup to a Helix Floor.
Try putting FX in front. I feel like doing it that way, your FX take the character of the amp. When putting FX after the amp, the FX kinda have their own flavor that gets put on top of your tone.

As a follower of Jesus, I do often struggle with convictions that I have too many possessions. It's certainly something I hold in tension and bring to Jesus and not am always sure I handle rightly. I tithe and give of my time and talent and try to leverage my possessions for the Kingdom (thus a resource like The Tone Shepherd), but I likely don't do it all right. How have you handled this tension in your own life with the possessions you own?
The ToneX pedal has a mono input and stereo output. So you can only run mono effects into the front of a single pedal. To run stereo fx into the pedal, you need two. You can always choose to run your stereo effect AFTER the ToneX pedal, however. That way, you can use a single pedal. It just doesn't have the tone that I, personally, go for by doing that.
Its intresting how the AC30 has been taken as the sound to rock to god.....well its kind of the whole u2 vibe has been taken in some way...half epic half romantic....kind of odd but its kind of cool
There are definitely other amps that work well, but the AC30 has a unique tone that is well suited for rock as well as ambient clean sounds. It also makes for a good pedal platform which is important for this genre.

A few reasons why real amps are less practical than modelers: 1) amps are heavy 2) amps make stage volume too high at certain venues 3) amps are generally more prone to failure 4) recreating your ideal settings, mic & mic position every time on an amp is harder. You can turn up the preset volume to get them balanced instead of your master volume. UR tone models are often Kemper copies

I purchased David Hislop’s Strymon presets from Tone Factor a while back and have been using those ever since. Check um out!
