Welcome to Hong Kong! I’m glad to hear that you had a great first day in the city! Here are some extra tips for moving around in the city: 1. If you would like to check the estimated taxi fare, you can use Google Maps to do so! Don’t ask the driver about the price upfront or pay in advance. By law, all taxis are required to run by the meter, and let’s just say that Hong Kong taxi drivers don’t have the best reputation, so even us locals often prefer not to take taxis. 2. You can purchase an Octopus Card anytime at any MTR Station Customer Service Counter! Additionally, you can save a bit of money using it on the MTR compared to using a VISA/MasterCard or a physical ticket. 3. I’m guessing this video was filmed around spring? Because Hong Kong becomes unbearably hot from June to September.
Hiiii, thanks for sharing your tips! Very useful 😊 Taxi's generally don't have a good reputation (anywhere) 😅 - only make use when it's really needed! but good tip thanks.
Dutch people are super nice. Went to Amsterdam and on a few occasions (we didn't even ask) random strangers just approached to us asking if we were ok because we looked like tourists and looked a bit lost. I hope you will have a great experience here in HK. Welcome!
Happy you had a great experience in the Netherlands! ✨ can't generalize but most of the people are very helpful yes! - but the same goes for HK and the people, everyone is really helpful and friendly to us. 🥹
As a local Hongkonger I’m delighted you’ve visited my home city and wish you a wonderful time! Hong Kong is a great starting point to dip your toes into the vast country of China! It’s such a uniquely vibrant mix of Chinese and Western culture. I’m sure you’ll enjoy all of what the city has to offer no doubt! Also many HKers - myself included like to travel up the Mainland in neighbouring Canton / Guangdong province for leisure and such, you could give that a try to experience more in-depth Cantonese culture! I believe Netherlands don’t need a visa to even go to the Mainland for 15 days? Would love to see your experiences there! Great video btw. 👌
Thank you for welcoming! and cool to hear you're from HK. True! I looked at doing a day trip to mainland, but due to time will do that next time. My visit to HK made me want to visit so many more places now.
Welcome to Hong Kong ~!! ☺🌆 Hope you enjoyed the trip, and didn't get too overwhelmed by the humid heat, fast pace or the noisy environment there. Ideally, mid-November or after, would be much better for a visit.😻
thank you! ☺ definitely not! I really loved the atmosphere and basically almost everything about Hong Kong. It became one of my fave places ever to be honest.
@oneroomboy hahah I laughed way too hard 😂♥️. Fair point tho, next vlog I am going to show HK Thank you for your comment! Edit: you can actually see the thumbnail without my face somewhere in the video 😋
FYI, you can just buy the Octopus card at the Airport Express booth without any prior reservations.
Good to know! Wanted to be sure the first time but good to know for the next time 🙏🏽
