Though I had another laptop, you helped me a lot. I didn't know I needed to use the plastic tool (Although I had it) to open the case, and missed the screws covered with the temper identification measure. Thanks!

I've worked with computers since 1973, although back then they were big remote mainframes, then IBM system 36/38 and AS/400 lots of Z80/6502/M68000 assembler, via MS-DOS 1.25 (!), PC-DOS on 64kB IBM PCs, through CP/M, DR-DOS, Concurrent DOS and eventually big Windows server farms, lots of Linux, microcontrollers, C adn Perl coding, then Cisco networking and security. These days I just dabble in containers, AzureAD, AWS stuff and cybersecurity investigations. RF is very much a sideline for me, but ONE DAY I'll be able to retire from the Day Job and just mess about on RUclips. Work REALLY gets in the way of fun.

No, you don't have to do anything. If they're at least 2933mhz rated then they should run at that without changing any settings. That's the max speed for the 10th gen intel cpu systems

I just upgraded my 15P and it's exactly the same procedure except the wire that goes around the nvme slot is actually below the slot, but you should be okay following this video. In fact, I called Gigabyte and they said remove BOTH thermal pad stickers so @willsilicon was right about that.

It's not, unless the heatsink is really thin. But if you already have one that you want to use, you could take the heatsink off and just a thermal pad should be enough.

I can't find anything showing the exact screws, but it looks like pretty much the same chasis. It probably has the same screws. Just get you a cheap bit set like the ifixit set that I use!

So I think they use tamper evidence tape not for warranty but for things like returns. Ex: Did it get opened to swap good components for your dead ones just to return it and get free replacement parts? Or maybe even for a consumer who buys it as "new, opened/open boxed" so they can see, hey this thing has been opened up inside yet it was sold as "new, opened/open box". Just a thought, nice to know Gigabyte doesn't void the warranty for just removing the lid to do exactly this, considering *some* (mine did) come with extra thermal pads for just this purpose!

Yeah makes sense. Mine came with extra thermal pads too, which is what I used for my added m.2

Gen 3 port. And 10th gen CPU doesn't support gen 4 PCIe
The newer Aorus laptops with Intel 11th gen CPUs should have PCIe 4 slots.

I just installed my nvme drive too, didn’t register. The motherboard can only support Pcie I believe.

I am buying an internal ssd like this one because I bought an external one with a case and it keep getting corrupted... I once lost like 6 month of unreal engine work...

@@WilliSilicon yeah by unreal engine project are like 50-100gb big with tons of 3d assets. Can not use the cloud for that. I use 2 SSD but one is always a done builds behind
I think backblaze is like $7 a month with unlimited storage if you have good fast internet. Do you have this laptop? Is it good with UE?
