Had my paternal grandparents not gotten out of Vilna 90 years ago, I would never have been born, and now I am a grandparent.
❤
I am not Jewish, but I am with you with my heart! G-d bless you all!!
made me cry AM YISRAEL CHAI!!! JEWISH PEOPLE WILL LIVE ON!
Now after the terrible war that broke out on Simchat Torah this song takes on a double meaning. After the terrible and cruel massacre. And yet in the most difficult moments the beauty of AM YISRAEL is revealed.
am yisrael chai
This is a song I understand, it is so sad. I am a gentile believer in your God, like Ruth, Rahab and Tamar. I pray for the peace of Jerusalem, your soldiers and hostages, every day. I see the unity of the soldiers in Gasa and love it when they dance with the Tora and sing to the God of Abraham, Isaack and Jacob.
beautiful. thanks from Israel 🇮🇱
I am not Jewish but I understand your pain and memories.
Voices are so beautiful.....God bless you all!🙏
A beautiful memory...and beautiful that 2 brothers could sing this together
Stunning voices and so beautifully matched as if you were related. That familial DNA must have stretched for you both to be so together not only in pitch but the richness, depth, projection and emotion…… I’m speechless at this masterpiece…. Well done for sure !!!!
Wow what a beautiful gift from God. As a Christian brother I want to say I keep coming back to listen to this over and over again. It has touched my spirit in ways you can’t imagine.
Thank you for sharing the gift God has granted you of music. May we all learn as God’s children to share the gifts he gives us.
Shalom
Everyone who complains about children in Shul could learn from this song.
It is a challenge to keep children orderly in Shul... but it is the energy of those children in Shul who are the promise of an energetic Jewish future.
The message, the music, seeing the two brothers... May Hashem grant them Menuchas HaNefesh, Menuchas HaGuf, Brocha and Hatzlocha!
Very well said! Great perspective!
Absolutely!
Well, if the children are disturbing the davening then it's actually halachically problematic to bring them to shul.
@@abekaye8317 Kids can be a distraction to people who are looking for distractions to complain about - instead of concentrating on a relationship with Hashem. Gad Elbaz was in our Shul and someone complained there was too much singing and liveliness. Complainers should learn about serving Hashem B'Simcha.
I hear that in conservative and reform prayer gatherings there are no children. You might like to try going there. They are great at your so called Halacha of not being disturbed by children. They also don't want their lives/careers disturbed by children.
@@alizak770 What a ridiculous response! I literally said that it's halachically problematic, which, if you researched, you would see is a fact. I did not say that ALL children shouldn't come to shul, just children that are disturbing davening, which is a real thing, and not dependent on the person trying to daven.
A shul is a makom kadosh, not a place to have fun. Making noise or running around shul is objectively disturbing to people that actually know how to daven according to halacha.
It's also ridiculous to suggest that I should daven in a conservarive or reform "shul"; as I clearly stated, it is HALACHICALLY problematic. You can't disregard the halacha because of your personal feelings.
All that being said, the message of the song is that children are the future of the Jewish people, which is of course true, but obviously not that small children that can't sit still or keep quiet should always be brought to shul.
This song sent me into instant tears. Shulem's music does mean stuff to me
In 2009 , I was standing in the Crematorium of Terezenstat Concentration Camp. This was the song I was listening to to fully be present in a place of personal loss to my family. I had my 2006 iPod in my ears , before our trip I sat down with Abie Rosenberg's CD and listened to each line, writing down each word so I could learn the lyrics. This is the song that both shatters and builds. It's a tremendous part of my life journey. You did justice and completely respected the style and the inner voice of the song. Thank you for this !
Growing up in Skokie Illinois ( I am almost 60) I knew my share of survivors. This includes an uncle from Vilnas. This song brought me memories of that generation who are mostly gone now. May their memories bless us all.
My mother grew up in Skokie, she would have been around 60 now.
Not only do both brothers sing beautifully and with palpable emotion but the song itself has me weeping.
Дякую Богові і Вашим Батькам за те,що подарували Світові Такі Таланти!!!Здоров'я,Миру і Любові!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
З повагою.Київ!!!
I can’t stop crying. The most beautiful song I have ever heard. What a mitzvah to bring light to the suffering of the Jewish people during the Holocaust and the hope for a better future. Am Israel Chai.
Incredible singing and amazing arrangement. Tears. Shout out to Abie as well.Legend.
Just a few weeks ago a Holocaust survivor in my shulwas telling me that it's such a pleasure seeing children in shul, rowdy or not. He recalled coming back to his shul in Ungvar after the war and how all the children who made so much noise before the War...were gone.
My father, a survivor, a.h., said the same thing. After the war, he realized there were no children in shul. He vowed then that he would never stop children from making noise in shul.
I vividly recall the Simchas Torah my late husband broke down in tears at the Seudah (festival meal) . He was not aggrieved, he was actually elated by the dozens of children rowdying around the tables in the Shul basement. He told us how joyful the contrast was to the Simchas Torah of his childhood when the adult survivors filled the shul, unable to dance or sing…and yet they came. Childless, many widowed, they came nonetheless…he and his brother, both Americans, were the only children present. The contrast brought him to tears.
Your rendition of these events bring tears to my eyes now…thank you.🤗
Oh dear Lemmers, how I am hearing this now.
My heart flooded with sadness, followed by sweet hope and faith. Am Yisrael chai.
WOW! What I’d give to hear you two singing together at Shabbat services! What a blessing that would be! Peace ☮️
So very beautiful . Marvellous to see Yaakov and Shulem sing together. How a CD of Yaakiv and Shulem together. Would be amazing.
Your voices blend as one so beautifully.
Hashem bless you both.

I'm in tears. This is one of the centuries,
best & beautiful. Just the short verses breaks my heart for what happened. Thank you for making me even more aware.; and for the touching music. God's Peace. Shalom!
More Lemmer brothers duets PLEASE!!!
I found you on Christmas Day, the seventh day of Hanukkah, a Jew in a flood of Christmas songs and madness. Thank you for this time to remember why I chose Judaism to fill my heart, "children in the shul", being celebrated.
OMG I can hardly breath through my tears! That was beautiful and moving Brothers Lemmer! Keep going.....
I am a finn and from christian background but learning from my messianic jewish friends about Yeshua's and his disciplines jewish identity and lifestyle I have become more as a jewish in my heart and I really feel I want to do my best to restore and keep living jewish faith and culture. You are my jewish brothers and sisters who I am ready to protect and stand with in every situations. I want to share your feelings, sorrows and joys, feasts and habits and live together. I want to serve Avinu Malkeinu and love Him with whole my heart and soul and with all my strenght. In the end of the world, according to "the New Testament" my rabbi Yeshua will judge every person to heaven or eternal flame about how they have treated jewish brothers, did you know that? In the Christian Bible reads that and it's Yeshua's own words. The following of Yeshua is about to follow His Jewish footprints so being a good christian needs to have a humble jewish heart. This song was very touching and you guys are incredible, God has given you great voice to serve Him, rebuild and restore and to teach jewish living tradition. Shanah tovah! ❤️📜✡️👑😍
Beautiful world, thank you for love❤
How appropriate for these times! Am Yisrael Chai

Greetings from Holland to Shulem and Yanky. Beautiful song. 🙏
Lyrics:
I met a man last Sunday; he was on his way back home
From a wedding in Chicago, and was traveling alone
He said he came from Vilna, a survivor I could tell.
And I helped him with his suitcase-
He could not walk very well.
A steward gave us coffee as we settled on the plane.
I asked him why he bothers - at his age there'd be no blame.
"No simcha is a burden, although I miss my dear late wife".
And then he shared with me the story that has changed my view of life.
He danced round and round in circles as if the world had done no wrong.
From evening until morning, filling up the shul with song.
Though we had no sifrei torah to clutch close to our hearts.
In their place, we held the future, of a past so torn apart.
I remember liberation, joy and fear both intertwined.
Where to go, and what to do, and how to leave the pain behind.
My heart said "Go to Vilna", dare I pray yet once again,
For the chance to find a loved one, or perhaps a childhood friend?
It took many months to get there, from the late spring to the fall
And as I, many others, close to four hundred in all.
And slowly there was healing, darkened souls now mixed with light
When someone proudly cried out, Simchas Torah is tonight.
We danced round and round in circles as if the world had done no wrong.
From evening until morning, filling up the shul with song.
Though we had no sifrei torah to clutch close to our hearts.
In their place, we held the future, of a past so torn apart.
We ran as one towards the shul, our spirits in a trance.
We tore apart the barricade, in defiance we would dance.
But the scene before our eyes shook us to the core.
Scraps of siddur, bullet holes, and bloodstains on the floor.
Turning to the eastern wall, we looked on in despair
There'd be no scrolls to dance with, the Holy Ark was bare.
Then we heard two children crying, a boy and girl who no one knew.
We realized no children were among us but those two.
We danced round and round in circles as if the world had done no wrong.
From evening until morning, filling up the shul with song.
Though we had no sifrei torah to gather in our arms.
In their place, we held those children.
The Jewish people would live on.
We danced round and round in circles as if the world had done no wrong.
From evening until morning, filling up the shul with song.
Though we had no sifrei torah to clutch and hold up high.
In their place, we held those children.
Am Yisrael Chai.
We danced round and round in circles as if the world had done no wrong.
From evening until morning, filling up the shul with song.
Though we had no sifrei torah to gather in our arms.
In their place, we held those children.
The Jewish people would live on.
Am Yisrael Chai.
The Jewish people would live on.
The Jewish people will live on.

It is gorgeous but the message made me cry. Sometimes I think about the Holocaust and I feel guilty not help the Jewish people but I wasn't born at that time. I believe that this feeling is because I hate the injustices action even more when it is with G.d people. Thanks for the message.
The story told in the song is a true story told by a rabbi. The boy who was lifted up revealed later on, "I think I was the boy in the story."
