    These are some of the first stereograms I've successfully looked at. I can't even begin to describe how happy I am to finally be able to see the 3D images. Your designs are gorgeous! A bunch of comments really liked the yin yang ones (I love the gold and black one), but my personal favorite is the third design. Seeing those sets of three "petals" nestled inside one another is very satisfying to look at.

    Nice! Could you make an autostereogram video, an animated autostereogram? There are some online, but all the ones I found change the "base pattern" every frame, making them very noisy and hard to look at.

    • @Eyetricks3DStereograms
      @Eyetricks3DStereograms  7 месяцев назад +1

      I've seen some of the animated stereograms online and they are very interesting. We've never really tried a long form one as it would be a tremendous amount of effort. Here is a really short and simple attempt we had at an animated effect.
      ruclips.net/video/4eEEmaMvlOY/видео.html
      In order for the animation to work, you have to cycle through a series of different stereograms (could be hundreds or more depending on how long the animation is) that all have slight variations. It's kind of like the old flipbooks that created an animated effect when you quickly flipped the pages.
      Every time you vary the hidden image slightly, the base pattern has to shift in order for it to work properly. I don't see how you could hold the base pattern constant and get an animated effect.

    • @cube2fox
      @cube2fox 7 месяцев назад

      @@Eyetricks3DStereograms Yeah, of course we have to shift the base pattern slightly, but otherwise it could stay the same, while continuously changing the hidden 3D shape, to display e.g. a bouncing ball or a running dinosaur. It's interesting that you say it would be a lot of effort -- I assume you don't have a software solution which simply gobbles up a base pattern and a height map?

    • @Eyetricks3DStereograms
      @Eyetricks3DStereograms  7 месяцев назад

      @@cube2fox Right, the base pattern would have to change (even if just slightly) for each different change in the hidden image. I can't think of a way you could keep the pattern 100% constant.
      We definitely use software to help put everything together. I think it would be a lot of work, because to have any meaningful animation, we would have to generate say 100 different hidden images (from a 3D model) in the different positions. We'd then have to run them through the software against a base pattern creating 100 different stereogram images.
      Putting these together in a slideshow type sequence with very short transition times could then generate an animated effect (like a flipbook). I'm not sure how fast the transitions would need to be in order to have a smooth animation. A quick Google search says that 24 frames per second is normal in animation. So 100 stereogram frames would generate only a 4+ second animation! You'd need 1,440 images (!!) for a 1 minute video.
      There is probably some software that could help with the manual nature I described above, but we haven't seen it.

    • @cube2fox
      @cube2fox 7 месяцев назад

      @@Eyetricks3DStereograms Yeah, without a full software solution it would be not worth the effort. There is actually a 2014 music video (Young Rival - Black is Good) which is a completely animated autostereogram. I guess they have used special software for it. But they use random noise patterns, which change completely every frame (not just slightly to change the hidden image), which gives an unnecessarily noisy overall result.

    • @Eyetricks3DStereograms
      @Eyetricks3DStereograms  7 месяцев назад +1

      @@cube2fox The Young Rival video is very cool, but yes, the pattern is quite noisy. I found an article where the director talks about how they created it:
      www.indiewire.com/news/general-news/watch-can-you-see-the-hidden-images-in-this-magic-eye-music-video-30387/
