As ever I thank my eldest brother Danny for introducing me to YES and Prog in general when I was an impressionable 11 year old back in 1973, I have never looked back. When ever I hear music like this or anything that is just soooo good I always thank him, it is usually whilst listening to Radio Caroline which I thank him for that too. No other British radio station would play this track or Awaken in its entirety. Cheers Danny, see you in May.
This is the most beautiful and sublime song I've ever heard. All of Yes's magic is represented here and lives within this work. I would like to know how this composition and the lyrics have been created.
The original story of love bringing a sculpture to life with love is from Greek myth, Pygmalion & Galatea I think. Then Shakespeare swiped the idea, and he gets most creation credit. Then Jon Anderson changed Pyg's name to Roan (which is cooler, yes) and wrote part of this song. Unbelievable song, i'nt it? This and Awaken are indefinable, uncategorizable.
I read where Steve said the electric guitar part of this piece is his 1956 Les Paul Custom. For those of us who care about such things. The thing just soars sonically.
I second the comments regarding including the frame rate of the slide show in the title. I would rather be there in person to watch the performance. The music is exquisite. I am thankful it is there at all to listen to and confirm some of my own meanings of the lyrics.
A note about music listeners of 1977. Amidst trends of CB trucker music (a dying phase), and a radio bluegrass trend (also dying), and disco (Sat Night Fever time), Yes had schnutts enough to release this, and even better, the fans accepted this most un-rock like song completely, and have ever since. With Turn of the Century and Awaken, you have to ask yourself "what izzz this? How do I categorize it?" The open-eared fans deserve a lot of credit. Very much so. It's also an instance of evidence that the listener & audience is smarter and more capable than generally assumed. Progressive music operates on that tenet.
vzqk50HD Its funny that you include resolution of the slideshow (video) to the video title, like 480p/720p/1080p or even interlaced makes a difference? Your slideshow can also be 360, who gives a shit about the video resolution , as long as the audio is good...
News flash,I don't care how Chucky got restaurant,,I don't want to be mean, get out of my life,I knew things for many years and never did I say anything, IDC

One of the most utterly beautiful songs by Yes. This vzqk50HD video is superb as is all your work for Yes videos. Thanks!
Wonderful memories from my youth.
Same. Yes helped me through some tough times.
Stunningly exquisite elegance and you just know this has to be playing on a loop in Heaven. YES indeed.....always YES!
Masterpiece, emotion!!!!
No matter what is wrong with you you can be loved, but love yourself first
I'll never understand why Steve Howe didn't really like Going for the one. His guitar work is exquisite.
+peter schlingemann / Agreed in the extreme.
peter schlingemann I have thought the same thing myself.
peter schlingemann That’s the case: particularly on this song!!!
He had to be #2 here. Real

Some of us like to play these clips on VERY big TV's - that's why quality matters. Can't believe that would never occur to you...
