- In this HiTop Films Thanksgiving Special, we take a look at Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man and why Spider-Man is a Perfect Thanksgiving Movie. Yes this is yet another Spider-Man video essay, but I felt it was an important one to make. Will HiTop Films ever stop talking about Spider-Man? The answer is no. Anyways Happy Thanksgiving to all of you, and I hope you watch Spider-Man and eat lots of turkey.

I have nothing smart or funny to say here, so follow me on twitter so I can be relevant. @hitopfilms Thank You guys and hope you have a great week!
Are your videos monetized? If you guys cut down the f words I would gladly watch a few 30 second ads for you
HiTop Films You know bitch means fat female dog
Did you get a new mic?
I think a more appropriate title would probably be "Spider-Man has a perfect THANKSGIVING scene"
Just some constructive criticism I actually love this video
HiTop Films can we get a titans episode 6 video?
Norman: touches food
Aunt May: e s t a b l i s h e s d o m i n a n c e
incomplete or co?
And unlike every other scrub she doesn't even need a T-pose.
Aunt May in this scene breaks my heart. She's trying so hard to have a "perfect" Thanksgiving. To her, the perfect Thanksgiving would be in her own home, with Peter and Ben. But Ben's dead and Peter doesn't live in her house anymore so she has to make due, and she is still trying to have control over everything (being in charge of the food, slapping Norman, calling out Harry, trying to cure Peter...etc) only for it to spiral out of control. And a few scenes afterwards she's praying next to a picture of Uncle Ben and then Green Goblin attacks her. Poor woman.
Aunt May is always the MVP
Just like my mom (some times).
Every Thanksgiving...
@Sudhish Bangarusamy
*GLARES IN AUNT MAY*
That's true, if she was a latina she would hit Norman with the chancla.
Pizza Time! no wait, Turkey Time!
Why not both

@@midnighthymn 2 vids dropping very very soon (end of the week), stay tuned ;)
Pizza Time, so great it deserves a capital P and a capital T
I live for Aunt May slapping Norman's hand
When I was a little kid an saw someone do something rude I would slap their hand and say hush Norman.
Hell she could be a better Spiderman than Spiderman
When I was a kid I thought the Green Goblin attacked her because she slapped his hand
"Finish it!"
*I'M GONNA FINISH YOU, NICE AND SLOW*
I'm thankful for you making the first Spiderman film even MORE entertaining than it already is.
Wait, Dragon Ball Black watches HiTop Films?
BlackScape happy to pay the bills Otto
Why are everywhere!
Hollywood been on a Raimi withdrawal for far too long now...
This video was a surprise to be sure but a welcome one
I too like Star Trek: Revenge of Khan

Hello there
"...While Norman is trying to suppress the goblin from straight up murking Peter at the table". I nearly died when I heard that 🤣🤣🤣
Everytime I get depressed, I get myself high on Sam Rami.
i can relate bro
That awkward moment when you have 10k extra views because it has Spider-Man in it.
Theres legit so much tension and high stakes in the one simple dinner scene. Another example of great writing
honestly I re-watch a lot of your videos all the time because they’re so well written and put together. I feel bad they have to be superhero themed just to get views, I hope you guys get more credit man, you deserve it!!!
If just that one scene is masterfully made, think about how much more knowledge can be found from the entire trilogy.
norman: *touches food*
aunt may: i'm about to end this man's whole career
RIP Stan Lee
Spiderman 1 and 2 are masterpieces. Raimi is a genius.
@Adam Warlock still good movie though.
Hi-Top! I just wanted to thank you for your excellent videos. I've been giving your videos in my Advanced English classes in order to show my students how to properly construct their argumentative essays by demonstrating how well you defend your points, regardless of the topic. Keep it up! Much love from Puerto Rico.
That’s amazing! Hopefully your students don’t start dropping F bombs like I do constantly.
The new Titans episode about Jason Todd released last weekend. While the show has yet to solve all its problems I think they portrayed Jason almost perfectly and I loved his scenes with Dick showing their similarities and differences. I can’t wait for you to share your thoughts on it and if your own concepts for a Jason Todd series had similar ideas.
Also, IMO, the flashbacks of young Dick expressing desire of revenge combined with the reveal of SPOILER what he did that resulted in Tony Zucco’s death which lead to Zucco’s Family nearly being killed with his son coming back to haunt him, and that Jason himself has his own demons separate from Bruce’s influence shows that Dick’s view of Bruce is obviously biased and in a way Dick’s method of not accepting his own demons. Bruce himself took him in so he won’t be consumed by vengeance, his actions of violence, like Jason’s are his own.
That tracker thing was a bit paranoid though. They seem to be going for a more post Zero Hour/pre Infinite Crisis super paranoid Batman. Still, I hope my analysis is correct in that Bruce means best and did his best for Dick (which Dick even admits) and that Dick will realize it.
This scene has more emotional content than any other moment with holland or Garfield. Also helps when you've got Defoe
Absolutely not
"Enough said."

only Hitop can make me fall in love with a movie again just on a video essay on one scene
Damn so much went into this scene, never knew that...
What kind of apartment has the oven right next to the front door?
Aunt Mary
A jew apartment
Dude... You got me inn fucking tears. Why do all your Spider-Man's analysis get me like that? It's just so beautiful. You make me realize how much of a masterpiece and a classic these movies are and how meaningful scenes - as simple as a offering a piece of chocolate cake or celebrating Thanksgiving - are. Sony and Marvel should really be grateful to Raimi's work, the guys is really talented (he literally made the first official Superhero movie, if we don't count the 70's Superman).
And this my friends, is why this Spider-Man & 2, are still the best spidey films.
that cameo with that music...my heart
Every time I always said “Spider-Man is a great thanksgiving movie” no one believed me as a kid. Thank you for solidifying my reasoning my man
Character: has blue tie
HiTop: COINCIDENCE? I think not.
I love these videos. I never thought of Spiderman like this.
That cameo in spiderman 3 is so powerful at such a time like now. I mean, I never really thought about it when I would watch spiderman 3, but it seems almost certain that Stan wanted one cameo to stand out beyond the rest, and it was that such cameo that will have people forever thinking about him years after he has past away.
Or just, y'know, the perfect movie
Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,
Not really...
@Custard Karim
then what are you doing here? this video is praising spider man 1 not hating on it
@@custardkarim8209 lol I just mean it's fun to watch any time, although I think it is very well made
"If you have an idea that you genuinely think is good, don't let some idiot talk you out of it"
My mind is blown great vid lad
I love your videos so much, so many people overlook the meaning behind Tobeys Spider-Man movies but you really capture the essence of them and it couldn’t warm my heart more. Keep up the great work
This video was simply amazing, I feel Norman wears Red and Blue because he desires to take down goblin and Peter wears Green because he desires to take down goblin.
The entire Spider-Man vs. Green Goblin thing in every comic, movie, tv show, its all sooooo suspenseful and tense and so awesome! Like in the spectacular Spider-Man, Peter is torn between his life and really his friends and has so many problems dealing with his life and the goblin. It's one of the reasons why i think the green goblin is the #1 deadliest spidey villian in terms of Peter's and friends.
I actually shed a tear. Just at the end when Stan Lee gave his line. Deep down we are all little boys and girls who wish we could be spiderman
Man your videos are always awesome. I find your use of the "f" word hilarious
Time for our annual rewatch y'all
It's the best Spider-Man movie, it always will be for me. I grew up on it, watching it at least twice a month for 8-9 years.
Norman osborn's fight with harry osborn represents bad thanksgivings pretty nicely.
The holiday specials are so fye!🥖🥖🔥🔥🔥
Your videos never seem to disappoint, do they? Every upload of yours is the highlight of my day!!
Thank you so much for the video. One of the best channels on RUclips. Also, that Stan Lee message was straight from the heart. Like a legend once said, "Enough said."
I always watch spider man during thanksgiving....were twins
For the record, I am in film school (animation to be specific) and I've learned more from video essays (yours and other people's) that I have from school.
Is it possible maybe sone day you can talk about Black Panther? Just a suggestion. Huuuuge fan!
I didn’t think I’d cry at the end of this video. Why’d you have to hit me in the feels?
Man thank you for breaking down a scene I NEVER gave a 2nd thought too. All these years and I never realized the characters were all wearing colors that reflected their ideals and goals. Like holy shit
Rest in peace Stan Lee. You are loved by millions and will continue to inspire.
Norman: touches food.
May: Imma lay down the fucking law bitches.
It's also a good Thanksgiving movie because, well, it's a good superhero movie, and who doesn't want an excuse to watch a superhero on Thanksgivings
Peter: "Had to beat an old lady with a stick to get these cranberries."
Norman: "Odd flex, but ok."
It's also, to my knowledge, the only scene in the film where all 5 of the core characters interact with each other at once
At first, I didn't take this video seriously because I thought you were just going to crack a few jokes about this scene. But then when you went into a more depth interpretation of the scene I just couldn't believe it. I went to see Spider-Man when I was a kid so this film has been part of my life since then and you made me look at it differently for the first time since I saw it. Thank you, and you earned a new sub! also thought some of the jokes were funny xD great stuff man
I go to movies now trying to grade them how you grade them because I think these videos are so well written and accurate. Keep it going.
It just says you uploaded it 31 seconds ago but comments say a day ago

Happy thanksgiving, Alex! Thank you for your passionate story telling, great editing, and providing an escape for us for 10-20 mins. You rock dude!
This scene is just my family’s thanksgiving every year
Congrats on already out performing your last holiday special in less than a day. Love the video, super interesting. And thank you for letting me see this scene again. ❤️❤️❤️
I almost cried when you showed that cameo
Love your review it was awesome
Fucking hell Alex, the ending had me in tears. Everytime you talk about the Raimi movies its amazing.
I never knew that color was such an important motif in the Spiderman movie! I might be completely off here, but does MJ's red hair help signal that she belongs with Peter in not just this movie but also in the comics?
I remember when I was only 7 and watching Spider-Man over and over crying every time.the good times
I would love more Spider-Man scene breakdowns like this
Easily my favourite video of yours Alex. Excellent work. Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man is also my favourite Thanksgiving movie 👏🏼

But Homecoming - Spider-Man 3 It`s Worse Movie Really Hate It
Agreed
Tom HD Reactor how is homecoming bad?
@@mattdarwin3978
Homecoming is as bad as Spider-Man 3 (I still enjoyed 3, btw) but in a totally different way. The whole time I was watching that movie, it didn't feel like I was watching a Spider-Man movie. I was hoping for so long that Spider-Man would someday fight alongside the Avengers, but when it actually happened, there was something missing.
I grew up with Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man. I remember it was one of the first movies I ever saw in theaters. It reflected how I saw the world at that time. Simple, fantastic, and lighthearted. Colors were bright, the costumes were comical, and the characters were simple enough for me to understand at the time. Even today, the first Spider-Man movie feels the same as it did at first. That's because it has a timeless feeling to it. It lives in its own world, mostly unmarked by the technology and current events of that time.
Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man, at first glance, was incredibly exciting for me. It was like playing my favorite video game, but with a new and updated look to it. Villains I had hoped to see in the first franchise were instead being used for this new, and darker one. At the time, I was fascinated by adaptations of pop art into more realistic forms (i.e. Minecraft with shaders, or books being made into movies). Watching The Amazing Spider-Man was like watching the first Spider-Man movie, but with a new lens. Of course, after The Amazing Spider-Man 2 came to pass, I was eager for Marvel to take the reigns and write a better story, but not a different character.
And therein lies the problem with Marvel's Spider-Man. He's not the Spider-Man I grew up with. Of course, that's my opinion, but I feel that maybe there's a lot of other people who would agree with me. Tom Holland's Spider-Man is someone caught up in society and trying to impress people. He goes to parties to make a show out of his alter-ego (he did the same thing in Civil War, though in a deleted scene). He is constantly trying to gain the respect of Tony Stark and of the people of New York. He's a self-centered hothead for a good portion of Homecoming. A lot of his motivation for stopping crime and saving people comes from his desire to be an Avenger. This is actually addressed by Tony Stark when he takes the suit away: "If you're nothing without this suit, then you shouldn't have it." To me, what we got in Civil War, Homecoming, and Infinity War wasn't Peter Parker. It was some immature kid from Queens that lived in a world of Avengers. He does learn to stop crime for the sake of justice by the end of Homecoming, but there's another problem.
Tom Holland's Peter Parker has it way too good to be Peter Parker. He lives in a nice apartment, he can use his alter-ego as a means of entertainment and fun, and he doesn't have to worry about money. For Pete's sake, he even got his crush to go with him to the dance! He's not awkward, he has no trouble in school, and no real issues with his friends. When it comes to this version of Flash Thompson, I think Peter needs to learn to lighten up. Getting called "Penis Parker" is not something worth making a rival out of someone for. When Flash said "you're dead" after Peter showed him up in physics class, I really expected a fight to happen. Then nothing happened, and I started seeing Flash as nothing more than a real-world manifestation of a twelve-year-old on Xbox Live. I also began to see Peter as a millennial baby. Both the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield Spider-Men would probably kill to have this Peter Parker's life.
There's not enough real-world stress that's laid upon Peter. Life isn't hard enough for him. And still, Tom's Peter Parker is complaining while simultaneously bragging to Ned that he's an Avenger when he's not. Peter Parker doesn't ditch school for being Spider-Man, at least not with a smile on his face. He's not a juvenile that drops responsibility to play a game of superhero, he's a hero who sets aside secondary responsibilities to stop a fire burning elsewhere. Peter Parker's motto is "with great power comes great responsibility" while Tom Holland's Peter Parker's motto is "with great power comes the ability to forget your responsibilities to chase your desires."
David Tate but mcu Spider-Man is a kid he’s 16 I think he’s a kid trying to become a avenger by showing off to tony stark who’s his father figure in civil war, homecoming, and infinity war that’s how his character was intended to be a kid going in over his head

Why are these films so incredible? GOD THEY WILL NEVER BE TOPPED
Great analysis of that scene bro! I remember when I first watched this movie I was at the edge of my seat! Keep up the great work!

Ya know I hadn't really teared up so much about Stan's passing, but holy fuck that outro really pulled the trigger on the waterworks
Just subbed. Its great to be able to find new meaning in a movie that you didn't fully understand as a kid. You're pointing out things I never would have caught!
