Yes I agree! I wasn’t born in and only lasted three years in baptized, plus the before baptism study/getting recruited time. But it was enough to where it blew the whole family apart. Born in is one thing, but being recruited in is quite another, like a long or short term “War” you’re fighting and coming back to an absent family. It was like an accelerated life-that three years was so deadly and serious. Then to be turned in to Elders by a JW husband for not agreeing with the Blood Doctrine, having to choose life over death, being dsfd and shunned, losing all you had and loved, ending up fighting for your life in hospital abandoned...yes, we need to hear much more from those not born in but recruited in. Thank you for this. 😢

I love hearing these real life JW experiences. Thanks for sharing yours🙏🏽. You got sucked into a high-control religion and then they wrapped you in the F.O.G; FEAR, OBLIGATION and GUILT. And once you’re baptized by them it really starts: the nitpicking, behavior control, the constant scrutiny, the demands for JW culture conformity & judgement.
No different from any other religion there are some very sincere, god-fearing, well meaning people, BUT the cultish culture and control fostered by the leadership on down is insane ! Add to that the arrogance, hypocrisy & gaslighting from the leaders.

What a story! Your delivery style is so apt to the nature of this tragedy - slow and deliberate. That is just how the induction and indoctrinate proceeds. It really causes the emotions to surface. Those years when they emotionally kidnapped you (mid 20s - early 40s) are one's prime adult years. Squander them, and one is left hallow like a doughnut's core. Anyway, glad you woke up. looking forward to part 2. Former teacher here who also escaped.

Remember, we inherited the Sinful nature of Adam & Eve. On average most JWs have a past, like another Religion or are in search, if they were not born into the JW Religion, so previous to that of becoming a JW you are straddling the fence, thinking seriously but yet not committing wholeheartedly to become a JW, as the Religion is very much a Cult.
I was Married to One and never became One. Met her through my Sister at my Mom's, house on Thanksgiving Day, Dinner Party in 1984 and One Year later we were Married. Dedicated to the Marriage but not JWs teaching and indoctrination; as I eventually became divorced with One child 10 years later and now neither One, are speaking to me; daughter is married to a JW, planning no child birth, so, I won't be Grandfather. Another thing JWs interfered with my Marriage and Bedroom. I fell Hook Line Sinker for her, but she was more dedicated to them, than me.

    1. **Initial Introduction and Relationship (**00:02** - **01:36**)**
The narrator, T, shares her story of dating a Jehovah's Witness (JW) at age 26. He was born and raised as a JW but was not baptized. Despite his stance on their relationship being inappropriate, they continued dating, and he shared JW beliefs, particularly about paradise and resurrection.
    2. **First Kingdom Hall Visit (**02:31** - **04:26**)**
On her 27th birthday, T decided to attend a JW Kingdom Hall meeting to understand her boyfriend's beliefs. She was intrigued by the punctuality and structured nature of the service, especially compared to her Baptist upbringing.
    3. **Bible Study Initiation (**08:49** - **12:19**)**
A JW member offered her a free Bible study, which she accepted. They started with lessons that resonated with her, such as why people die. She found the couple leading the study friendly and welcoming, which initially made her feel positive about the experience.
    4. **Doubts and Tensions Arise (**13:48** - **15:20**)**
During a Bible study session, another JW member joined, leading to a tense and uncomfortable interaction. T felt judged and criticized, which made her reconsider continuing with the studies. She noticed the group's controlling behavior.
    5. **Feeling Manipulated (**16:45** - **17:59**)**
T started noticing manipulative behavior, like being pressured to provide explanations for her absence from meetings. She felt the group was trying to guilt her into compliance, which made her question their intentions.
    6. **Deciding to Get Baptized (**38:37** - **40:23**)**
Despite her reservations, T decided to get baptized as a JW at age 30, encouraged by the acceptance and attention she received. Her mother and grandmother supported her, even though they felt uneasy about the teachings.
    7. **Change in Treatment Post-Baptism (**45:37**)**
T describes a "bait and switch" experience, where the kindness and attention she received before baptism drastically shifted to control and demands for conformity after her baptism.
    8. **Realization and Conclusion (**47:26**)**
Reflecting on her experience, T feels that the organization’s methods were manipulative and designed to separate her from her family. She plans to continue sharing her story to stay true to herself, despite the emotional and relational challenges.

This organization literally ruined my childhood and my mentality,, and sadly.. I'm starting to realize it now at 20 years old. I remember being so utterly depressed as a child, I went to school and I was treated by "worldly" people so much better than witnesses. In fact, I would get bullied, picked on, and pushed away by elders, kids, and adults in this organization. I'd get nasty looks and I didn't even know why.. It was at EVERY congregation. They'd be nice for a bit, but then they change on you and treat you badly if you literally miss a few meetings or if you don't go out in service. It's scary going out in service as a kid, I got threatened, doors slammed on me and told cruel things which really still affects me.
When I was a child, my mom was very sick, she was in the hospital and also in mental hospitals as well and almost died and few times. The elders turned a blind eye, the congregation turned a blind eye. Why? Because they thought my mom was on drugs and my dad was an abuser. They treat my brother who is autistic very badly, as if he couldn't understand them when he is one of the smartest and nicest guys I know. Thankfully however I did meet a few nice Witnesses. But most of them were horrible.
What REALLY woke me up was when I began to pray and ask to be fixed because I was bisexual but I prefer women because of how badly I was treated by men in the organization and out of the organization. I was so scared, because I'm always taught that if I go against Jehovah, I will not make it to the new system and I'll lose everything and everyone. The constant panic attacks and fear I always felt when we had talks about this exact thing is too much to handle. I almost put myself into the mental hospital because I felt like I was on the verge of a breakdown and I just wanted to die so I couldn't experience the pain anymore.. No one should ever have to go through this, ESPECIALLY kids..
Thankfully I'm fortunate as my parents said if I do leave the organization, they won't kick me out and they still reassure me that I am their daughter and that they love me. So, I left last week. It still feels so weird though. I just wish they could leave too, it's very sad because sometimes my parents look so depressed, especially when they can't make it to the meetings or go out in service. I love them so much, I just wish they could wake up as well. Thank you for sharing your story. ❤

I really loved your story I was right there with you! Especially when you mentioned the shoes and the skirt-I had the same experience: an “older” sister came with tape measure to measure if my dress was covering my knees enough, I was indignant and told her to leave my home. But my husband told her to stay and explain “submission”. And I recall also my own mother crying and worrying about what I had gotten into. Three years in, I was ds’fd and shunned because my own husband reported me to Elders for refusing to go along with the No Blood Doctrine when it came to my child. @@eyeswideopen8570 in JWs I never thought we’d be naming brothers and sisters the way we did when we were kids in CATHOLIC SCHOOL, but we sure did! We had, in Catholic grammar school, Sister Mary Discipline, Father Fartalot, (sorry but it’s the truth), Sister Floatzonair, Brother Blessesstuff, and Sister Woe-be-to-you! But even though we became adults and put aside childish things, we couldn’t help naming those varied looks and personalities of JWs! Elder Turky was our favorite. Honestly, because he laughed at us in our innocence as newbies and called us “turkies”. So we all became turkies. He was precious because he laughed and enjoyed our little family. But he was eventually ds’fd for alcoholism. His wife had a “nervous breakdown”, she was sweet and lovely and I don’t know why all of these things had to happen. But anyway, yes, naming them was pretty cool, it kept us secretly laughing when Armageddon was coming in 1975.

This comment is not coming from my personal experience (I have never been JW) but my husband grew up in a JW family (he was never committed or baptized. He was disfellowshipped and grateful that he was 😊). Listening to you had me recognizing the red flags 🚩.
    1. The guy that introduced you to the JWs and kept saying “we shouldn’t be dating” was already showing his hypocritical face. He was right. He shouldn’t haven’t been dating you because you were “worldly”. 🚩
    2. He wanted you to come to the hall but he flat out refused to go to church with you. 🚩
    3. He asked what you wanted to do for your birthday when he’s forbidden to celebrate birthdays. 🚩
    4. The couple was 💯 love bombing and gaslighting you. 🚩
    5. The ladies who declined to study with you were judging you because they run each other over trying to get those studies to prove themselves. 🚩
Finally, once they felt that you were “in”, the guilt and shame proceeded.
I’m sorry you went through this but praise God you made it out. Can’t wait to hear more. Blessings!

Pointless hating people - while I understand those strong feelings, the reality is, we are subject to our genes, our environment, our peers and the pressures upon us. All of these conspire to push us in a particular direction. This is a deterministic universe and we are puppets being played by nature. JWs are as much a victim of this world, as the next man or woman. It's very frustrating at times, but better not to hate imo

I love my family. As a JW, you turn your back on your family, disown them, shun them, throw teenagers out of the house, let children die rather than give them blood yet you’ll guzzle down the blood of meats, your suicide rates are higher than the National Average, you feel empty and depressed and are jealous of one another and hate charitable people in the world. Your god is “a god” as you say, and you are so narcissistic as to care only about getting your own skins to a paradise it will take you aeons to rebuild after your sword-swinging Governing Body and their god destroys it. Hypocrite! Pharisee! You who polishes the outside of the cup so that it glints and glimmers yet inside is full of filthy lies and jealousy. Go to your Armageddon which you will make happen yourselves. Follow your eleven men in New York. But as for me and my household, I will hold fast to the Lord, Jesus Christ. Now leave!

"Jesus didn't come to bring peace but a sword he's more important than friends and family"
Maybe Jesus was wrong then - especially if that teaching applies to Christians arguing over interpretations of speculative texts?
Do you think it is a "loving arrangement" to push a teenager out of the house for disagreeing with the Tower?
Or to isolate a man or woman who clearly has mental health issues, because they fail to meet Tower standards?
I don't, but then my ethics aren't dictated by a council of men obsessed with a rigid delineation of old scrolls.

@ Excellent reply. Also, “Jesus came not to condemn the world but to save it.” That sounds like Peacemaking to me. JWs only listen to the NY GB. They have no clue or education of Scriptural speculation except what the men dictate. I hope they will find Peace and stop rooting for wars.
