- Hi everyone and welcome back to our RUclips channel!
This is last video in our series about Oslo and we want to share the top attractions of our capital. Today, we’re starting with the Oslo Opera House. Even though it is very summery in Oslo now this was filmed in November on a beautiful, but a cold day.
Join us as we explore this architectural marvel, completed in 2008, with stunning acoustics and a roof you can walk on. Learn about its history, cost, and the Snøhetta architects who designed it.
Next, we’ll head to the Munch Museum, which took 20 years to build and now enriches our lives with its extensive collection of Edvard Munch’s works. We’ll also show you the impressive “Mother” sculpture by Tracey Emin nearby.
We’ll walk you through Karl Johan Street, from the Parliament to the Royal Palace, and share tips on seeing the Nobel Peace Prize laureate at the Grand Hotel. Don’t miss the National Theatre, National Museum, and more!
Finally, we’ll visit the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, designed by Renzo Piano, showcasing works by Damien Hirst and Jeff Koons.
If you enjoyed this virtual tour, give us a thumbs up, subscribe, and consider joining our membership for exclusive content. Thanks for watching, and we hope to see you in Norway soon!

Thank you for the visit to central Oslo this morning. I haven't been there for about 37 years and am surprised by all the changes. My grandfather stood guard at the royal palace at the turn of the last century. One of my cousins stood guard at the palace years later and others were connected to the band. My grandmother stood in front of the Grand Hotel when King Haakon and his family arrived in Oslo and she told of seeing the royal family walking in the park.. Some relatives lived on Kral Johan years ago. The West Train Station brought back memories for me as I took the train to Larvik several times from that station. Akershus was a favorite place to visit and have ties to those who built the fortress centuries ago. Good memories. Thank you for sharing. 😀😀
What a lovely Sunday treat. Thank you!
How lovely, Oslo seems like a city with something for everyone. Thank you for showing us around
Beautiful city...thank you for sharing ❤❤
Thank you for watching!
Happy Sunday! What a beautiful tour you gave us today. I can only dream about seeing places like this, so thank you for sharing.
I hope you have a wonderful week. Hugs for Freja! ❤🤗😘
Enjoy your week Cheryl!
I visited Oslo beginning of May, beautiful city I am going back soon, growing up in Mexico City your country has always been present in our food, we love Bacalao (cod fish) so Norway has always been present in our culture, one delicious fish that we have to thank Spaniards for bringing it to America.
We have Baccalà in Italy, also salted cod.
Oslo is such a walking friendly city. We have enjoyed so many of these places and it was a pleasure to revisit them with you. I hope this video inspires lots of people to make it a priority for them to see for themselves. Thank you 🙏
I enjoyed your walk through Oslo.I am an armchair traveller now due to old age. Norway was on my bucket list but it didn’t happen.
Thank you greetings from Australia. 🇦🇺🇳🇱
Lovely contrast with what's going on in the war zones !!! You people seem to be so far away from any kind of conflict 😂👏💪
What a beautiful place. Would live to visit someday.
Hopefully you will make it one day!
We are coming this summer on a cruise. Have enjoyed all of your videos. They are very helpful when planning our excursions. Thank you.
We are glad you find them useful Mary!
I had to smile when you began to Stand and Knit for a Bit! You are so generous to share your country with us!

What fun to explore Oslo through your eyes! This has been a treat for sure! Thankyou guys!!! Much love and hugs sent your way! ❤
Carlos and Arni, this video makes me want to move to Norway so much!! I used to live near San Francisco in California here in the states!! I went to the opera, I went heard many Musicals, And Many wonderful Orchestra!! Oh, how I miss that!! Now I live where there is nothing!! I can't even go to Detroit! I don't even know if there is any kind of theater groups or any thing like that!! Where I live, there is basically not much in the way of culture!! It gets very Boring!! I would love to go to a big Museum but the one that I could go to is mainly filled with cars!! And very expensive to get in!! This area just doesn't have anything, not even a nice quilt shop!! I have to mail order everthing!! You have the best of everything where you are!! Well all for now, I hope you are both are well and are staying safe!! God bless you both! Thank you for another wonderful video!!
I am so happy that we have planned to fly into Oslo before joining your Svalbard Express cruise this August! I’m looking forward to touring this city, before taking the train over to Bergen. I noticed what looks like streetcar or trolley wires overhead--are these for electric streetcars?
I wish I had done the same, and then taken the train cross-country to Bergen before the cruise in March. The Train sounded excellent from other travelers’ reports.
Thank you for being great tourist guides ❤
Thank you for joining our tour❤️
Thank-you, Carlos and Arne......very good, enjoyed every second of it. ...........mc
I just came back from a trip to Oslo! It’s my favorite of the Scandinavian cities! Thank you for this video!
I enjoyed this episode very much! Thank you! Very fun tour. 😊
Beautiful! I would love to see Norway! I join you in the love of opera and ballet.
How beautiful!! Thank you for showing us around your lovely city!! ❤
Thank you for joining!
Absolutely charming...what a wonderful ad for Oslo! I'm packing my bags...I'm on my way! You two are amazing!
Beautiful -- thanks for sharing. Wonderful memories of our visit in February. Too icy to climb the Opera roof but looking forward to doing that next time. 😍
Love you guys ❤ thank you! Such a lovely visit to Oslo with you. Thank you for showing the beautiful city 🥰
It s a month since I’ve watched your videos - this one was lovely! I dream of visiting Norway one day. You make it seem possible.
This is one of my favourite videos from you. I loved it, and the other Oslo videos too. Thank you for sharing them with us. Unfortunately I won't be able to visit Norway as planned this year so I will make a play list of all your Oslo videos so I am ready for when I can visit. Your comments about having Munch in your life resonated with me. I have favourite artists who enrich my life and bring inspiration, yourselves included. Life would be very dull indeed without Munch and the work and shenanigans of ARNE & CARLOS.
Thank you for sharing some of Oslo with us. It looks like an amazing place.
Thank you so much for sharing your visit. Norway is such a beautiful country - you are so fortunate to live there. ❤
I enjoyed visiting the Munch museum when I was in Oslo.
that for sharing me and my difficulty planning on going to Opera its on our to do list
the information about the palace seem amazing
Awww. I didn’t get a chance to walk on the roof when I was there. Will have to visit again
What a wonderful treat. Thank you.
I really enjoyed your tour of Oslo. Thank you.
Sublime is such a lovely word.
Hi guys it is great to walk on the roof what a view look at all the glass thanks for the tour it looks chilly
It was very chilly😍
Fabulous, as always. Thank you for taking us along and showing the amazing sights!
You are welcome!
I love that you are carrying your knitting.
This was so cool! What a beautiful city.
What a beautiful tour. Thank you.
I love that they used Snohetta for the designer - so beautiful. And like the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, people can enjoy the exterior even if they can't buy tickets to the inside. It's for EVERYONE! Wow, I think you could spend 10 days just in Oslo and still not see it all. What a lovely city; thank you for the tour.
Thank you for joining!
So lovely! I adore opera and ballet.
very nice - seems so fun to visit - thanks
Tell us about Arne’s mittens!
Thankyou for taking us around Oslo my husband and I were there in 2017 and thankyou for the memories I love Oslo and Norway
😍😍
When walking down the beautiful opera house roof, I highly recommend watching your step and NOT getting up close and personal with the marble by falling flat on it (speaking from personal experience 🤣) -- ouch!
The princess' sculpture garden sounds enchanting. Next visit...
Oops
Thoughtful and informative to show us Oslo. My nephew loves Norway. Now I want to read Isben! I have an undergrad degree in English lit and of course read Shakespeare, Chaucer, Hemingway and some very obscure romantic poets…on and on. But Isben! I’m digging into it now.❤
I watched the Doll House starring Jane Fonda as Nora. It was engaging and gave me insight into culture at that time. My old eyes can’t read as quickly as watching a film.
Maybe one day I will see it for myself, thanks for the inspirational tour. Beautiful city. Well thought through by the urban architects.
You are welcome!0
Brilliant to design the opera house as a glacier coming to the sea!!! Wow!!! And thanks for this video. Oslo looks like a very special small city!
You are very welcome Jamie! Thank you for watching😍
Gosh! That looks like a great city to visit! I was there 50 years ago and HAD to go to the Kon-Tiki museum, having read the book about 6 times. Not many of the buildings you showed us even existed then.
Thanks for the tips!
It has changed tremendously in the last years.
I have been in Oslo the last time in 2016 and it changed so much around the harbour 😮 I'm going to visit it again New year's Eve and the beginning of January and I am very excited 😊 have you any tips for Oslo in that time of year?
You should do the sauna and cross country skiing! Go for a walk and have a coffee at Frognerseteren.
Wonderful interesting city. Now definitely on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing, it's really nice to hear your opinion about all of it.
Thank you so much for watching!
Thank you for taking us with you on your walking tour. Looks like a beautiful city. Maybe someday I will get there.
Hopefully you will make it one day!
Great architecture. I sure hope this was recorded much earlier, and it isn’t that cold in Norway at the end of May! It would be wonderful to get permission to see inside some of these buildings sometime.-Mary
It was recorded in November, now it is warm and sunny😍
Thank you for sharing! I always love your videos. That was really cool. You saw someone wearing a hat you designed
It was a beautiful day!
Great tour! Thank you. Carlos, I like the way you look in the red hat, more than the grey one (although it is very lovely as well). The red color makes your face look so alive, and young.
Thank you!
How fun , Thank you for sharring , Blessing to you both ..
You are welcome!
Thanks, kids!
You guys are the best, I just returned from Norway and loved every minute.
😍
Loved! ❤
Thank you so much for the tour! Oslo is amazing!

You are welcome!
My father sold candy at the theater in 1935
Wow
This was just awesome , Thank you ! The city looks so clean and well kept
You are welcome!
Just booked my holidays in Oslo 🥰
Yay🎊
I got the chills as I watched this video. I was there 2 years ago and I miss Oslo so much 🥹
I was there 17 May 2008 staying on Inviks across from the opera house, fabulous
It must have been a beautiful day.
@@ARNECARLOS cold with snow flurries. But still a beautiful time
This brings back nice memories of my time in Oslo before the cruise. I probably asked our guide at the time, but I have forgotten what the sculpture that looks kind of like a sailboat is that you can see between the opera house and the ferry to Denmark. Does it have a name, or is there anything you can tell me about it? Also,I’m glad that when we were there, the museum had a couple of your Christmas balls on display.
Do you mean the SALT house?
@@ARNECARLOS I found it online. It’s the floating sculpture called She Lies by Monica Bonvicini. It looks like a sailboat made of glass.
This was great - thank you!! ❤
You are welcome!
I very much enjoyed your tour of Oslo. What a beautiful city! Thank you so much for taking us along! I would love to visit some day.
Very enjoyable! Thank you.
You are welcome!
What a nice episode. Thank you for showing us some of your favorite places in Oslo.
Thank you 🙏 what a beautiful city it’s made my evening ❤ x
Does the slante marble roof of te Opera get slippery when it is icy ?
Yes, and also when it rains. There are signs telling people where to walk😍
@@ARNECARLOS Good caution !!!
The interesting construction and architecture of the Oslo Opera is so unique and truly beautiful. The everyday walking around the property/roof, provide another way to enjoy this place together.
It is so nice that it is designed for everyone to use.
I can't even imagine having my work on permanent exhibit in a national museum! You both are amazing!
Thank you so much!
Well, this was fun, and quite unexpected. I'm curious: when did you film this? You're bundled up to the teeth, your breath shows in obviously frosty air, and it's now the end of May. I'm sitting here in 90°F (32°C) Washington, DC. Frosty air is a long-ago memory!
In November! It is one of last one we have in that series. We are filming again in June.
Thank you for an interesting tour of Oslo and the top attractions. I hope I can get to Norway and see these museums and go to the beautiful yarn store.
I love these episodes. Thank you so much. It's a wonderful city.
Thank you so much:-)
