Ugconnect you letting us know so much yes am in US and you took around our village area, am going to look for you when I get back soon so that I at least I appreciate you
The lady with the motorbike made this exploration more interesting. She well informed of her village historically. Great. This young man is Wode Maya look alike, he's gradually taking over from where Wode Maya left bravo
Kenya's independence constitution was partly written by first US Black Chief Justice Thurgood Marshall who was friends with Kenya Nationalists Jomo Kenyatta, Oginga Odinga and Tom Mboya . Tom Mboya was a Keynote speaker at the March in Washington in 1963 and close friends of Dr. Martin Luther King, Harry Belafonte ,Andrew Young, Sidney Poitier, Ralph Abernathy and other black civil rights leaders . The Kenyan Nationalists and US Black Civil rights leaders set up resources to help educate Black Kenyans denied higher education opportunities by white before Independence in 1963 . Hence Obama father to Harvard .
After Harvard where Obama father had studied Phd Economics, he worked with Nationalist Tom Mboya who was Minister Of Economic Planning and was responsible for writing Kenya's post independence Economic framework .
Obama wrote about his father ,Tom Mboya and their Nilotic Luo peoples( same group as Actress LUPITA NYONGO, Ugandan-British actress SHEILA ATIM of WOMAN KING,LRA rebel JOSEPH KONY against Yoweri Museveni in Uganda comprising at least 20-25 million spread out in 9 territories including Tanzania ,Kenya, Uganda, DRC Congo, Chad, Central Africa Republic, Lower Egypt/Sudan, Ethiopia Gambella/Eritrea) .
Other Africans can learn one thing from Kenyans. Whether its the record breaking athletes, award winning artists or world leaders Kenyans are humble they dont try so hard to show off or isolate themselves from the community. The Obama Family and the Jaramogi home stead are a testament
WOW, it is great to see where the Obama family lives. Lawrence this video should go viral, a lot of Americans want to know the history of the former US president. NICE. Watching from Calgary, Canada
Hei, I come from North Tanzania . We border Rakai distrikt in Uganda. Twins are named if female, the first born is Nyangoma. And the second born Nyakato. Male twins first born is called Ishengoma and a second born Kato. You should cross the border in to Tanzania and see the cultural similarities around the lake Victoria.
Hey, in Tooro, Nyangoma is given to the elder twin (if she is a girl) and Isingoma (if he is a boy) and automatically, the younger 1 is Kato (boy) or Nyakato (girl). I am enjoying your trip to Kenya, nice work.
Grab the book DREAMS FROM MY FATHER by Obama and you will understand more the intricacies of the familial relationships between him and his father, Barack Obama snr
The Banyoro were ruled by the Luo-Babito in Uganda hence the borrowed words from Nilotic Luo like twins . The Luo-Babito assumed Kingship and rulership of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom after the Bachwezi fled and had almost a 500 year legacy that also provided rulerships for the Baganda . The Luo-Babito Kingdom is a case study for major history departments on Black/African history including Harvard and Oxford where Okot P’Bitek Ugandan Luo-Acholi Lawyer and Poet wrote his dissertations on the assimilation of the Langi into Luo .
The Luo-Babito initiated the Abakama Kings adopting local bantu dialects to effect their rulership. This lasted 18 generations . After the death of Omukama Tito Owinyi in 1971 the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom as ruled by the Luo-Babito ended following its 1967 dissolution by the Uganda government and later 1971 by Idi Amin .
The Luo Babito Kingdom that controlled Bunyoro Kitara for almost 5 centuries was led by the Luo-Jo Bito clan. The Jo-Bito come from the Bito tree . This group had moved from Bukidi in Northern Uganda originally occupying Tekidi in Agora mountains .
The success of the Luo-Babito Kingdom was replicated in Buganda and US President Roosevelt would soon visit in 1909 and was stunned at the level of organization that he found in Buganda taking the same principles to influence US democracy .
This is a great video, very informative after that of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga's Home, Moselium and Museum.. after Kenyans, i think Ugandan RUclipsrs are also very hardworking, not like those lazy Tanzanians.!!
The other names for the twins in Runyoro/Rutooro - Nyangoma (first girl twin), Nyakato (second girl twin). Isingoma (first boy twin) and Kato (second boy twin)
First Black lawyer in East Africa and Mau Mau lawyer ,Argwings Kodhek from Gem, Siaya, Western Kenya . Studied at Makerere University Uganda and later also earned his law degree UK at University of St Andrews before colonial Kenya state of emergency 1952 .
Kenya Africa Union was founded in 1951,a precursor to Kenya's independence party . Argwings Kodhek successfully represented at least 48 people accused of Lari massacre . Also was lawyer of Waruru Kanja who was part of the Nationalist movement for independence liberation .
Argwings Kodhek graduated top of his class at Makerere University Uganda and also Earned a law Degree in the UK at University of St Andrews after declining his social science scholarship at University of Cardiff UK .
Argwings Kodhek contested to be Nairobi representative under Nairobi Africa District Congress but lost to Nationalist Tom Mboya under Nairobi Peoples Convention .
President Milton Obote of Uganda had also wanted to become a member of Kenya's Legislative Council while living in pre-independence Kenya but was discouraged by his political mentors VP Oginga Odinga and Tom Mboya . They instead encouraged him to run in Uganda where he was nominated as member of Uganda's Legislative Council representing LANGO sub-region in 1958 .
Argwings Kodhek was member of pre-independence legislative council between 1961-1963 alongside VP Oginga Odinga and also a cabinet minister under Jomo Kenyatta . He died in a mysterious road accident in 1969 in Nairobi Kenya .
Not with the Westerners (Americans/Europeans) who don't have communal "debt" to pay as Africans do. After all, government systems in those societies work well and individuals are not obligated to fund communal projects. With Obama it was even trickier due to constant scrutiny from political opponents while in office. His ancestral kin were cognisant of that fact that he was an American president whose priority was to his country and citizens.
Its interesting that they recognized talent only after the step grandson become a US president that is funny so without Obama her efforts would have gone for nothing, Africa needs to do more
I think we still have the people living at Kogelo, the home associated with former President Barack Obama. They should rethink how to preserve the family home for historic purposes now and for future generations. The compound is large enough but lacks landscaping, and design to show the decency, and hospitality to the home. Dr.Auma has left things awkwardly scattered and animals and birds all over. If the former President Barack Obama wishes to visit, it will take money and good workers to put the home to a better standard. I think we can do better. Yes, we live in big cities, yet we can make our rural family homes more serene and hospitable. In comparison to RAOs family home, Kogelo is below any standard of rating. I am sorry. I call a spade its name. I'm a descendant of a paramount chief in Luhyaland, Shivachi. I often tell people that my Mama was royal, and I am a princess. I have taught my kids to embrace leadership and management of ourselves to depict who we are descendants of. I am not mean, but Obamas, clean up and organize the beautiful home.
Mr Mayanja.... Next time you're in area, I will walk you along Thames Valley, Thames Walk and you will dig deeper into the World of Waterway. water Transport, Water Powers which made up to the Industrialisation of the World
Next time when you go to a place, please ask a lot about the place because that is what we are interested in. This whole business of how they relate to Barack Obama is not necessary because we can easily access that from elsewhere. SHOW US AS MUCH OF THE HOMESTEAD AND THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE THERE AS POSSIBLE. The US president we can find elsewhere! SHOW US THE HOMESTEAD, WHO LIVES THERE and HOW THEY LIVE THEIR LIFE , CHALLENGES, ETC YOu could have asked: How many children did Mama Sarah have. Where are they all now. Who now lives in the homestead . What plans they have for the homestead going forward. etc
If Obama wanted he has enough money to at least help improve the schools named after him, if Obama had grown up in that village he would have done more
He must be avoiding the scrutiny involved with local American politics. He is being closely watched and large donations to his homeland may definitely be flagged by the republicans. Just my thoughts.
Correction: Lake Nalubaale (named Victoria by colonialists after a white woman who never set foot on the continent) is the biggest freshwater lake in the WORLD. Those Wazungu say it is Lake Superior just to make themselves superior over Africa and Africans!
Stop taking us for the ride. This is not Obama's house. His houses are in the US. Kwanini mnatafuta kiki kienyeji hivi? If Obama came to Kenya to vie for even becoming an MP, they would not have allowed him. Our African countries are hypocritical. When a person succeeds, even if he or she doesn't belong to them, they will start priding themselves that they are connecting to that person. The same applies to Indians. Who doesn't know how Indians discriminate against their host Africans. Now, that Kamala Harris a Jamaican with African pedigree is running, they are all pretending to be her relatives while in actual practice she is an outcast since her father is black. Opportunism at best.
I've come to like lawrence so much,,,he gat a sense of humor that so nostalgic!,,,always asking very relevant questions and getting the right answers

Ooh! Thank you for the kind words. A million views isn't bad, though 🫣
Good job 🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪
I love the way Kenya keeps such historical homes. DO we have one for our Former Presidents In Uganda ?
haha in Uganda it's totally different, didn't u see what happened to Ben Kiwanuka's house few days ago 😢
it's not possible in uganda because every president uganda has ever had, took the seat by force... by coup dé tat 😆
@ainebyonayoas5641 what happened? I think the war has also had negative impact on historical houses in Uganda.
Another great episode
The lady with the motorbike made this exploration more interesting. She well informed of her village historically. Great. This young man is Wode Maya look alike, he's gradually taking over from where Wode Maya left bravo
