The company I used to drive for had a rule , you must refuel before you finish, tidy the vehicle and leave clean , then do all normal checks you would do when you start away . If you find a truck empty of fuel, rubbish inside and no checks done , you report this to the transport manager - simple works every time Advantage quicker off the mark in the morning and to start work quicker !!
As you are the main driver of that truck, the company should have a policy that if you drive another truck for the company the cab should always be left as you found it. All trucks should be fuelled up ready to go. This is obviously a management problem letting drivers be lazy. Lets hope 2025 gets better.
Completely agree. I understand not everyone is as clean as othered. But As a driver also, theres nothing worse than getting in another truck that’s shitted up, half a tank of diesel or adblue or no screenwash!! You just want to get on the road not wipe others arses. Down to the company though to set the standards for people to adhere too 🤷🏼♂️
Here’s the thing Gary. If I don’t care about the truck, I’m told I don’t look after it and don’t deserve it, if I do care about the truck, I get told it’s not mine. I literally can’t win either way 🤷♂️
@@gary63693 Utter rubbish. When you finish a shift, particularly over a holiday period you fill up, diesel adblue, screenwash, wash truck, put trailer plate in cab locker, you complete a nil/defect report, tell offfice where it is parked and hand keys and paperwork in. The ownership of the truck is a total irrelevance.
Happy new year Luke. Sorry you had so many issues to sort with the truck but you dealt with it as quickly as possible and got on with your day. Great video as always thank you x 🏴
I run my own landscaping business, and all of the guys have their own vehicles and take pride in looking after there appearance. They treat them as THEIR OWN and all staff respect that.
Hi Luke. I know that area around Diglis, Worcester, that you went to. You're correct in saying that sign sending lorries to the right is only advisory, but I think it's trying to help drivers. I think the idea is that trucks going out go to the right, but trucks going in go in the way you went. That avoids meeting another truck in the narrow bit.
I hated it when I left my truck fuelled, hitched up and ready to roll the next day or Monday only to come in and find another driver has took it (always mine) left it parked elsewhere no fuel, coffee split and left and rubbish & banana skins in the door cards 😡. Manager never did a thing every time I brought it up.
I bought that book that you promote, really good information inside. I passed my HGV theories on the 10th Dec, im just waiting to start doing my practical training. Drive busses currently and need to get out of passenger transport. Thanks for another great Video Luke! Hope to see you out on the road soon! :D
I had 6 months off with a shoulder operation the temp driver scratched every panel, didn’t clean a thing and I found 3 dead mice in it. To say I was pissed off is a slight understatement
Hi Luke, a very happy new year to you and your family as well. I know exactly where you're coming from. I really hate it when things don't go as planned. When its happened to me, its like doing catch up for the rest of the day. My really pet hate. I was a secretary before I retired, and every time I was away on holiday or whatever, I would have to go through my desk, see what needed filing, what the other girl had left for me to finish off, answer my emails (work related) and they hadn't been dealt with. It puts me back a day before I can start getting on with stuff
Just discovered your channel, loving it, you are definitely a driver who does RUclips as opposed to a youtuber who does a little bit of driving, if you know who I mean 😅. I plan to sit and binge watch some more of your vids. Ps, just one thing, , ,and this is not a criticism, in fact probably more a criticism of me being a bit OCD, the sign hanging behind you should say Luke C in "AN" HGV 😂
The pidgeon was carrying a branch at the time. Know how you feel . Used to hate others driving my truck. The more you look after it the more the other driver seems to want to muck it up. All the best for the New Year. Mick
I cab hop so pretty much each time it's Adjust the chair, adjust the mirrors, CLEAN the steering wheel and fuel up. The laugh is that we have a post check form which demands the truck is fueled for the next driver.
It does boil my piss too when you get back into your own vehicle after time off and there’s crap everywhere. The fuel side of things is kinda forgivable, but to just leave bottles and food wrappers laying about etc isn’t.
Chep, Swindon I always end up in the queue normally about midday when I’m getting my collection sometimes I’ve sat there for four hours queueing down the road
Luke, that was out of order by the driver who had your truck. I used to work part time and I was always in other drivers trucks and I always made sure that they were clean inside, clean outside, even if it was just the glass and mirrors and they were always re-fueled (no pigs p*ss in them days) ready for the main driver to take it. I learnt that if I did this, then the other drivers would leave their personal kit, such as TV's and boxes of maps (yes before sat/nav) and tips on ferries/drops/country info etc. for me. It's just common courtesy really, I just don't understand other drivers who would do this, they are lazy sods. Happy New Year Luke
Love your videos Luke. Note sure if anyone else here mentioned but pretty sure that sign pointing to the right read "All Trucks" meaning you cannot go left.
No it doesn’t mean you can not go left. It’s only an advisory. It’s like seeing a brown sign to the zoo. It’s a recommendation of route to take but in reality you can go which ever way you want. If there was a weight limit down the road I took, (which there wasn’t) then yeah okay I shouldn’t take it. But yeah there wasn’t so all legal Thanks for watching mate appreciate you loving the videos ❤️
After driving a shitbox of a truck for 3 years i got a brand new rig went on holidays after a week of getting it came back it was damaged and smelt like piss in the cab i lost my temper altogether
I’d certainly expect the truck to have at least been fuelled and had ad blue, the third plate to be on passenger seat, etc. and tidy. Next time I borrowed someone else’s truck, I’d think “stuff it, you couldn’t be bothered, why should I?”
Such a pain having to find a number plate for the trailer. Why don't they leave them on? Is it in case they get nicked? Might just be a UK thing to do. I've never had one nicked and it would be a pain if one did as is would be annoying to explain to the police it is actually registered.

Another great vlog Luke 👍🏻 think it’s ok to ignore HGV route signs like the one you did. There’s one on the A350 heading south towards Blandford Forum. The sign says to take a B road past Melbury Abbas. Lot of HGV’s ignore it and carry on down the A350 as that B road is dog 💩
Yes but there are a few places along that stretch of the A350 from Shaftesbury towards Blandford Forum, where there is not the room for two HGV’s to pass and then they cause blockages, hence the reason for Southbound HGV’s should take the B Road past Melbury Abbas, which should not be used by Northbound HGV’s for the same reason.
@ Very true! I was taking the HGV route to Blandford southbound and a French driver was going northbound on the same route. Absolute chaos. I had to reverse into a side lane with the help of a car driver who was my banksman. Both ways are a ball ache
Luke i know how you feel i need to change vehicle i usually end up with the dirtiest one hasn't been cleaned in or out for weeks. Mine i clean inside daily outside try and get 2 times a week its not just my comfort but my passengers too

Leaving somebody else's truck like that is just disrespectful. No matter you want to be home for xmas etc not good enough. If it is an agency driver then tell your boss, if it is one of your own colleagues have a quiet word. Your boss should have processes in place to stop this from happening.
Why are they wasting your driving hours, dicking around with stuff a yard man can do, my dad's last job was a shunter for a bus and coach co, every vehicle fueled oiled parked and ready to go and he wasnt aquiring driving hours as he never left the premises. DOH.

Its taking pride in your work place and when you spend more time in it than at home you like it to be clean 🤷♂️ greay content tho
Wow a few sad people in the comments triggered by you again referring to it's your truck ffs,ive gotta say luke that if i owned a company and i had drivers like youthat take care and look after them then I'd be more than happy for you to say it's your truch as there are far to many drivers out there that dont give a shit about the lorry so i know which driver I'd prefer but people like gary can't understand that as they obviously have a pea for a brain
Well Luke what happened at the start of this vlog,is wrong, you got up at 4.30 expecting problems and they have it to you in spades,no diesel no ad blue unit under another trailer and another unit you had to remove from the trailer you needed,Luke there is no way to spin that.
From Bristol back to yard is 1hr 10 minutes. It’ll have been 2hrs and 20 minutes return journey instead of just 20 minutes. 2hrs fuel is more than the cost of a night out thus nighting out is cheaper for the company
Unfortunately Luke, whilst watching and listening to you on your vlogs, it seems your boss and now work colleagues treat you with utter contempt. There are other companies pal.
In reality, it's a company truck you are assigned to. It's not "your truck". When you pay for one, you can control everything that happens with it. As far as him changing things around and not putting things back, that's between drivers. The fact you are ALLOWED to do youtube and earn $ doing so is a blessing from your boss and instead of whining you should remember that and just be grateful for every day you are allowed to film in a company vehicle. I'm 100% positive you don't give them a % of your youtube money. Stop being entitled and understanding your youtubing has actually caused your employer issues as you have been banned before because of filming.
As someone who also works for a firm where we are assigned vehicles, we are responsible for looking after them (cleaning and minor bits of maintenance such as checking fluids etc), and it's common courtesy to leave these vehicles, as you have found them, or as you would expect to have found them (cleaned and ready to go for the next driver). If someone jumped in your office, messed it up, and didn't leave it as you did, you'd be pissed off. It's the same for allocated vehicles. These are our offices at the end of the day. And cleaning them if you're borrowing one for whatever reason, is just basic respect for your fellow colleagues. Mirrors and seats out of place etc doesn't fuss me. People need to be comfortable and be able to see, But a messy cab and no fuel/Adblue is just disrespectful to my work environment.
Fun fact, one of the places I’m banned from is a place that the work come from a customer who gave my boss the work because of my channel. I was also requested. I didn’t get banned because of the filming, I got banned because I told them they were being unsafe and they didn’t like my attitude. The fact it was put online didn’t help, but wasn’t the main reason. My boss also gained other work from me. I can 100% tell you that the company have infact benefited from me, more than lost out. I’m told to upload content on socials. I’m questioned why I haven’t uploaded anything if it’s been a while. But yes you are right it is a company vehicle and I am only the “allocated driver” I know that, which is why I have not had a go at anyone or confronted them even though I know who it was. Because I know I do not have the right too 👍🏻 End of the day, it’s just manners. I’m assuming you don’t have any if you don’t see a problem.
@@crstudios4457 common courtesy? Absolutely correct but this complaining about it on camera is childish and solve and serves nothing. You call the driver and air it out with them and end it. The guy was an ass for leaving it so but, what's done was done. Just sort it and move forward in life.
i would hate someone using the truck that's usually mine. ur bed your space and someone's just messed it up. i know it's difficult because the trucks needs to working all the time but even so...

Because I know I do not have the right too 👍🏻
End of the day, it’s just manners. I’m assuming you don’t have any if you don’t see a problem.
Enjoy your day too 👍🏻
@@crstudios4457 common courtesy? Absolutely correct but this complaining about it on camera is childish and solve and serves nothing. You call the driver and air it out with them and end it. The guy was an ass for leaving it so but, what's done was done. Just sort it and move forward in life.
@@YARCHLRL DIDN'T YOUR PARENTS TEACH YOU THAT IF YOU HAVEN'T GOT ANYTHING NICE TO SAY, DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL?
