  • Part 31 in Pastor David Guzik's in-depth study of the book of Genesis, expositing through all of chapter 27. This chapter details the supplanting of Isaac's covenant blessing by Jacob, in accordance with God's word in Genesis 25:23, and in spite of Isaac's own preference for Esau. Pastor David expounds and examines the chapter verse by verse, and concludes by highlighting some of the many ways that this chapter parallels the personage and mission of Christ Jesus.

Jesus save me because I’m losing hope. Please come soon I don’t know how much longer I can hang on. But I’m keeping faith. I keep faith even as I constantly struggle to take care of my children and I’m constantly struggling to buy groceries. BUT I TRUST YOU LORD! My husband died years ago. At times I feel so alone. I’m a single mom. I suffered an heart attack a year ago and I’m battling lupus so my health is failing. Both of my sons are autistic. I praise you Lord even as I constantly struggling to pay rent. Help me Jesus as I struggle to buy my children’s school supplies because I want to give up. I don’t know how I’m going to get through this, but thankfully I have you Lord! I know you will provide. Faith over fear! Praise God and his son Yeshua!

We pray that all your needs are met. God will provide. Sometimes He provides through other people or through your church. Maybe ask your church if they could help financially, or if they know of any volunteers who could help, if they could donate clothing or school supplies. Try to find out about any resources through public assistance, disability or medicaid for the kids. MOST OF ALL, may God give you HOPE, PEACE and HEALTH. God bless you.

Pastor David … I absolutely love your ability to teach. The comfortable, easy-to-follow, appropriate depth in the lessons you offer here are remarkable. Learning so much as our class is walking through Genesis in the Lifeway lessons in 2024. Reading, contemplating, and watching your well edited videos are part of teaching-sharing preparation. Thank you again for all the long hours of preparation you put into these videos.

Sometimes in our daily life evading someone else's will may not be deception but rather following the way,, may call for GOD'S WILL ,AND GREATER PURPOSE SO THAT IT MAY COME ABOUT IN GOD'S TIME, not ours

From what I understand, Isaac thought he might die soon afterwards, but he actually only died a year before his grandson Joseph became governor of Egypt.
    Abraham:
-100 years old when Isaac born.
-140 years old when 40-year old Isaac married Rebekah.
-160 years old when 60-year old Isaac became a father to Jacob and Esau.
-Died at age 175, by which time Isaac was 75 and Jacob and Esau were 15.
    Isaac:
-137 years old when blind, and gave 77 year old Jacob (mistaken for Esau), the blessing leading to falling out between brothers.
    Jacob:
-84 years old when married Rachel and Leah and started having kids. (Isaac is 144 years old, still living)
-91 years old when Joseph born (Isaac is 151 years old, still living)
    Joseph:
-17 years old when sold to Egypt by jealous brothers (Jacob, 108 years old, still living, Isaac, 168 years old, still living)
    Isaac:
-Died at age 180. (Jacob 120 years old, and Joseph 29 years old at time)
    Joseph:
-30 years old when becomes governor of Egypt (Jacob is 121 years old, still living)
-37 years old when famine starts. (Jacob is 128 years old, still living)
-39 when reunited with brothers and 130-year old Jacob.
    Jacob:
Died at age 147, after living in Egypt 17 years. (Joseph 56 years old at time)
    Joseph:
    Died at age 110.

Practical application, yes. But in this new covenant we do not have any direct instructions besides what is written in the epistles.
I believe you are missing the forest for the trees. Jacob and Esau are highly prophetic as is Ishmael and Isaac.
Both sets of brothers depict the old and new covenants. That is why the younger son always gets the blessing and birthright which is a type of the real promise
    Of eternal life.
It was Israel in the fulfillment that despised the birthright and gave it up. Israel was God's first born son according to Exodus 422
