I have a gen 7, installed gen 8 portal axle conversion kit, element stealth tranny, tires, wheels, shocks and brass. now one of the most capable crawlers I own.
Just ran across your channel today , bought my v2 a week ago and for the money redcat nailed it, i have the traxxas sport and the defender. your opinion is right on point with mine sir, redcat is producing great RC's to get folks in the door love it. Watched all your video's on it, and subscribed, peace my friend.
I love our gen8 v2. Such a capable truck, although a bit topheavy. Im adding brass portal covers and a brass front diff cover to prep it for horizon fest this weekend 😁
Love my gen8 v2, first big crawler and totally impressed, bought an scx24 to see if I enjoyed crawling as much as bashing- now I'm equally addicted to both.
The Gen8 did great thru out, but the Gen7 did better than I thought with those straight axles. The 7 really surprised me on the first part at Deadmen Pass. You have instilled a healthy respect for Redcat in me.
To me the Gen7 Pro is more aesthetically pleasing, and I really like the hinged body system..... but it's hard to argue with those portals, and I think you could probably outfit the Gen8 for aftermarket bodies a little easier..... it's a really tough call, but luckily there is a portal upgrade kit available for the Gen7.
Agreed fenris! I love the gen 8 because it's a accurate scout, but in the world of made up trucks the gen 7 body is great add the simplicity and durability of the chassis and it is one fine truck!
Sorry I just realized that I hadn't subscribed yet I am now. This is a great video. I'll have to say Redcat his pulled me back in that's hard to do for a company that comes out week and then to pull back strong is good
Course looks good Gerry! I was gonna say.. i reckon most of your 1:10 will make it up the pass.. ad more rocks? Or make some large concrete blocks to climb up.. just a thought..
Hey marco! Still working on some kinks, funny you mention concrete blocks I just found a few by my shed!! I just started building a wooden obstacle yesterday and I need some more big rocks!! My big idea is to use gates and make different timed courses!
Hey how's it going I'm a new subscriber to your Channel. I have my own channel but it's not very good. LOL I seen one of your other videos where you were reviewing the scout I love mine I used to have one when I was younger it my opinion is it is actually a lot bigger than the BroncoII that I had. it was all wheel drive all the time huge V8 engine and I believe that they are way bigger than the Bronco. I wish I had another one it was a beast. And I love what you did with your scout just enough detail to make it look a little different than everybody else's.
Welcome aboard MV Nichols!! And thank you! This has been a hot topic of that video, I misspoke when saying bronco II but on tonight's video I will clarify the specifics that I failed to research! Iam glad to see so many scout lovers out there, so many more scouts servive here in Alaska then broncos (first gen)😁😁

Glad to see you like the 8 Ray! I also like the 24, but I find I like the 18 scale a bit better. For working on I find the 24 just to small😁
I am binge-watching Gary's old guy reviews right now. LOL
I did the same with your channel today while doing some work in the shop!!😁😁

Glad I could help steve😁😁 the axles are big on the 7 , similar to a og scx10, but for the price you really can't go wrong with a redcat!!

did i make a mistake buying the gen 8 over the gen 9?
I don't think so grumpy! Not enough new in the 9 for me. 8 is still one of my favorites.
The new trails are looking good you can see all of the hard work that you have done to them job well done
Thanks fred!! Wife just thinks iam 🤪😜🤪 but she's gonna drive this weekend!!

Hey redcat has done it right, some of their cheap rigs are still pretty good! But make a flagship truck and keep improving it!!
That gen8 is SUCH a good-looking truck. It looked a bit harder to drive smoothly at really low speed than the gen7, though?
No they are both a bit fiddly at low speed, its mainly the radio you have to apply more throttle then I like to go slowly 😉
💯💯💯💯
Thanks masonic87!!😁😁
Gen 8 won but I would take either one I like red cat
At less then 200.00 the gen 7 is very nice!
@@gerrysoldguyreview do you have any cen f450 trucks
Yes sir, doing a build right now have 2 video's

The gen 8 reciever box is waterproff???
Hey jordano! It is not, it's just a box with no seals. But not to hard to seal it up wit some rtv or grease!😁 thanks for subscribing!
Love the gen8 design. Classic. Though realistically I think it’s too top heavy. Makes a great trail rc. Rock crawler. Not so sure about that.
So true, but being top heavy makes it very realistic!🤣🤣
@@gerrysoldguyreview still love your videos though!
