      its called a crystal, they are made naturally not by people who cut them

      Technically Feldspar would probably outnumber quartz. But that doesn't really change anything, both Feldspar (especially potassium) and quartz are beautiful

    Awesome job on the video, great explanation without annoying voices, love the way you use the camera and close ups for explanations! The only thing you didn't do was explain the equipment you used to beginners, but A+ job!

      it is very good indeed!! not only when you're starting, but also when you want to perform some new cuts or when you still have trouble with micro scratches. If you master the basics, you master the advanced!!

    watching this you have really changed your cutting style i watched some of your more recent ones where you cut and polish facets before moving on to the next step seems to me to be the way to go. Lovely stone you ended up with.

      You are correct, I am adapting my style. There are different methods to faceting. Cutting and polishing in sequence is more accurate in my opinion, but more time consuming. Cheers

      +Ian Jennings Stick with it Ian. Messing up is all part of the learning process. I remember that the first couple of months I didn't have clue what was going on (especially with polishing). Joining a gem club and having a experienced faceter teaching you is well worth it. Cheers

    Please forgive a fellow cutter for making an observation. I think some corner facets may have added a bit more sparkle. Of course I probably would have done the same if I had been cutting that stone. It's easier to suggest when you have nothing to loose. Very nice job. Every facet met at the proper point. The polish is perfect. I always found quartz one of the most difficult to polish.

      This particular design had no corner facets. I agree, corner facets look better and are a better option to have set.

    Imagine doing this with a tiniest diamond. How on earth can they cut all the sides in something as small as a grain? It was so educational to watch and it turned out beautiful!

      I believe the diamonds of that size are cut by machine, while the bigger ones are by hand 👌

    He definetely takes it to that artistic level. Has patience. Nature made it, man perfected it. Wondering what a " Blaze " cut would look like on a quartz? Let me know if you ever do. But with your skills more than likely another work of art a masterpiece gem :)

    I am very new to making cabochons and faceting. Is that an optimal cut for use with quartz? It's a cushion cut, yes? You do beautiful work, but it looks like a lot of light is escaping the stone. I'm just curious if a different cut that has facets of optimal angles, designed for quartz, would result in a finished stone with more brilliance. Thank you!

    Not sure what lap you use to polish, you should try a Darkside with Cerium Oxide.
