Nice video! I have an Aero and a Traveler , and I'm thinking of getting this in the matte finish. How do you like it now that you've had it for a while?
Thank you for reviewing this gorgeous pen! I would love to have one. I recently got a Diplomat Magnum in Crow Black. Thanks to you and that young man of yours for the inspiration. I enjoyed it so much I ordered another Magnum in Prismatic Purple from Goulet. I like the broad nibs. Very cushiony nib and a joy to write with. At about the same time I saw that penboutique is getting in the Diplomat Esteem in a Lapis Black finish so I have one of those on the way...hopefully. I pre-ordered it. Still waiting. It looks to be a somewhat larger pen than either the Magnum or the Traveler but smaller than the Excellence A2. Seriously considering the A2...someday.
@@PEIPenGuy I got the Esteem right after I posted about it. It reminds me of a vintage Parker 45 but heavier. It is labeled a but doesn't write as broad as the nibs on my Magnums. The plastic section has palpable injection-molding lines. It didn't come with a converter.I thought the clip might be spring loaded;it's not but works well. I do enjoy writing with it. It is everything I wanted it to be really. The Lapis Black finish does not show fingerprints. The snap-cap is easy, secure and tactile. Very shirt-pocket-friendly. It was $86.
Man, I fancy this pen but It is too expensive. About still nibs: Although I love my Lamy 2000 and my montblanc 146, my hongdian N7 f and n8 f are my top two. Followed by my jingo x159 fine and my metropolitan cm nib. These steel nibs surprise me everyday. They are serious good value. So I cannot justify buying diplomat (even though I currently live in German, they are still too expensive (around 160 euros)). Good video! What are your best steel nibs?

I want one but they’re hard to find 😢
So would you say to start with the Magnum, for the Diplomat-curious?
Yes, or maybe the Traveler.

That Esteem sounds nice!

Are there any issues of a dry nib?
I've heard of people having a dry nib due to the magnetic cap not created an airtight seal
You might want to disregard the opinion of individuals who are unaware that this pen lacks a magnetic cap, as they clearly lack familiarity with it.
Never had a problem with a dry nib.
I love the sound the cap makes when it clicks on!

What are your best steel nibs?
I was lucky to get it on sale, and my Diplomats, and Faber Castel Loom have great steal nibs.
