That’s ok man, the best shooters in the world miss on a daily basis but that’s how you get better, be conscious of the mistakes you are making and correct them, just keep working and give it time.
So in short 1. When your planning to shoot , look at the basket as soon as you get the ball (start looking early) 2. Look through your eyebrows ( don't tilt your head) 3. Don't pull the ball towards your body to Inc strength rather keep it a little away from your body Anything extra , do suggest what I missed
I’m the same bro when I’m shooting spot ups I tend to miss more, but when I shoot off the dribble it’s catch I believe it’s because the momentum transfers to your shot.
Yeah I tried this and I missed almost the whole time I can’t find a good video on shooting Hey it’s me again about 2 hours later and turns out I just needed to to practice with I’m starting to get the hang of it, so that’s my bad and good video
This is soo accurate i havent played for a while my shooting gone rusty and when i watch my old shooting tape i did excatly what you said in the video. Thank for helping me out coach
I was one of those people that shoot with their head up. This cause me to shoot really high because my set point was high. Thank you for telling me looking through my eyebrow is normal cause it’s very different for me to do.
Are you keeping your follow threw. because that's one of the main reasons people miss shots. I use to shoot like 5/40 and then my dad started helping with keeping my follow threw and I was like 18/20 in just a week.
Airballing is fine, as long as you're not doing it too often or during normal games. You just have to learn to shoot with your legs to be more accurate. The more strength you put into a shot, the more likely it will be off. Momentum is important, so you have to find a point where you both have enough momentum and enough accuracy to consistently make shots.
Wish these vids were in play when I was in High SChool and College.....But having developed my shot on my own and getting some coaching along the way with this is hella rewarding for todays young hoopers Thanks for the Assist Coach!
I used to have the basic elbows in with both feet pointing at the basket form.(this is what my coach taught me) because i had a tilt in my feet and my elbow sticking out a bit. I tried to shoot like what my coach had taught me and I couldn't make any of my shots that season. Now I have a different coach that lets me shoot however the way I like to shoot and as long as I can consistently make them i can keep shooting. My form isn't the best looking but it works for me and is more consistent then trying to shoot both feet squared and elbows exactly towards the basket. Using my new form I can now shoot and make three pointers unlike last yr when I couldn't make a three. Now my teamates and coaches are confident in me taking shots even as far as the half court logo
It's hard to keep my head flat, i wear glasses and the little space when you look up, is empty, and i have HORRIBLE vision, i cant see the basket, so im forced to put my head up a little
On targeting I always remember the great slow mo in Hoosiers of the Jimmy Chitwood character catching a pass no-look because he’s looking at the basket
if you upload a video (and tag me) of you shooting 10 free throws, 10 mid-range and 10 3-point shots recorded from the side view I will upload a break down commentary and a video of me on the court showing any advice I might have for you. Shot mechanics are often different for females and I have been studying the difference for a while
About the tilted head thing. It’s actually not bad to tilt your head if your struggling with arc. I had struggled with a flat arc myself and was given advice to tilt my chin up just a bit to raise my arc. It worked but it’s more so about not overdoing it and finding out what works for you.
Can you do vids on what different type of sports helps you when playing basketball and the effects them sports have on your basketball skills. For examle I'm playing soccer right now in would like to know the effects it have on my basketball skills?!
one thing i realized recently is that you need to know your form. i cannot stress this enough. know what you do when you shoot and every aspect of it. because when you're cold, you're doing something you don't normally do and if you don't know what it is, it'll be hard to get out of the slump and maybe you'll end up making whatever you're not doing correctly a habit.
Hey coach I have a very weird and unusual problem. I try to keep shooting the ball in the air at my home because I have no rims but at least I can develop muscle memory. When I shoot the ball in the air it's a perfect shot, al the fundamentals are right and I feel so much comfortable. When I hit the court, I swear to god I forget everything and my shot changes completely to a very ugly and wrong shot and I try to shoot like I shoot in the air but I swear whenever I see the rim it's like my memory is erased and my shot is so broke. It's so frustrating and I can't fix my shot
You're right I'll try to not think about anything when I shoot I'll just shoot normally from close range and try to be comfortable even if it doesn't go in at first
awesome i'll give the head tilt a try i couldn've figure what was the problem with my shot for several years, and i wear glasses now this makes sense . Thank you
The issue with my shot is that it takes so long for my hands to feel comfortable shooting off the dribble. Often the ball slips a bit in my hand and then ive lost control of the ball as i go up. What can i do about this?
Just like the other dude said.Powder up your hands or do drills to the point that you feel comfortable shooting off the dribble.Only repeating the same move will make you better at it.
Thank you for the video. You brought alot of things to my attention that I was doing wrong with my shot. It makes alot of sense now. You are the GOAT on youtube with the videos. Thank you and keep it up. 💯🏀💪
Thank you so much i followed all the steps you said and from two terrible matches with 7 and 8 points today i dropped 27 by regaining my broken shoot 🙏🙏
I have the weirdest looking shot and constantly get heckled on the court for my form.. then I drop buckets from around the arc and silence the haters.. feels pretty damn good. One dude on the court said my shot was broken so I challenged him to a 3 point shoot out.. made 14 straight and 21-25.. is it too late to really get proper form or should I just continue doing what I’m doing?
Hi Coach, I've been a subscriber since almost a year and I never miss any of your videos here on YT! Besides of being grateful for reading my comment, I'd be even more grateful if you could help me with a little advice about my shooting form: As you have taught us, tilting our feet is very important in order to get the elbow inside and below the basketball to avoid side misses. I'm lefty, I tilt my feet and I've tried to imitate Curry's shooting form (changing what needs to be changed from a lefty perspective), but I'm still often having issues with my shot that lacks of arc and my unwanted pinky and ring finger release. May you give me some advice please? I know that you don't teach "the perfect form", but to me Curry's form looks so easy and successful to not pretend to imitate it! Thank you and keep it up with the great work!
I'ma a dumbass I thought if your starting go up with your jumpshot you need the ball close through your body, Man that's why the ball keeps missing going from left to right
I need help. I feel like I have good enough handles and a good enough shot to succeed, but my middle school coach is holding back my talent. He ALWAYS has to be angry and yelling. I'm 4'11 and I find a wide open hole inside, and then my coach shouts at me telling me to get open outside. When I go outside, he tells me that I'm too close to my teammate. If I go into a triple threat, he shouts at me and tells me to get moving and start dribbling. Then, he'll tell me that I'm dribbling to much when I'm just trying to get open. When I pick the ball up and pass to a teammate, he tells me don't pick up the ball. I can never showcase my true talent if he's always intimidating me and he never tells me how I can adjust to his play style. If I do something wrong he thinks that I'm not listening or not paying attention. And that can cost me playing time or a spot on the team. Does anyone have any advice?
GangstaPenguin yo lil bro i know what you mean, some coaches are just like that man. Some advice is play your game until he takes you out. Forget what anyone is saying to you, you gotta block out all the noise, when you get the ball or when you are on the court do what is the best for THE TEAM at the moment. If that means making the right pass taking the open jumper or driving to the rack just do it. Forget what everyone else is saying
Tell him, like when he tells you you dribble too much tell him you said it first but respect him and if you are confident you can score in the paint and he suddenly shouts GET OPEN OUTSIIIDE just finish this play cause it is too late anyway to get back outside you will try to get open outside next time and stick to the gameplan of your team, if the gameplan is small ball don't go inside alone then. And if you worry about your gametime focus on practice and show him you have good work ethic that always work
i shoot with my right hand but my left hand isn t looking like an arm so it s harder to stabilize the ball so i needed this video ,thank you and god bless yall
okay I need actual help here. Im not one of the kids who "OH IM GONNA PLAY IN THE NBA IM GONNA DO IT AND IM THE BEST" So please dont try to 1 up me and say WELL IM BETTER THAN YOU AND I HAVE A BETTER CHANCE AT GOING PRO. I want to talk athlete to athlete. I dont know why its so hard without pissing someone off. Basketball is literally all I have. I need some advice about my shot. I shoot some days 10/10 from 3. Moving shots I do kyrie leg swing so I dont move when "fading". Then a week later there is just SOMETHING about balance idk what it is, but its my balance I cant like... control the ball or control my arms I miss left and it feels retarded. It comes off flat and just if there was something I could explain it with it would be the word retarded cuz it dont feel like im shooting. It feels like Im pushing and it slips off my hand weird. I shoot from the mid region of my face. Im not gonna pull the ball to the side of my head. I need help. Its a 1 motion and all and there are 3 people I watch shoot that help me. Kyrie, KD, and Damian Lillard. The shot is a big problem. I have the best handles out of anyone I know. I cant be good at dribbling but horrible at shooting. I cant score 20-30 points anymore without my shot. Oh also my arm hits my face... it didnt used to.
Well your supposed to have control how you grip it so you can shoot straight. Have you ever seen a guy playing who jumps up but the ball moves all over in midair? he looses control and creates bad mechanics...
BMike TN3 How about a unorthodox idea you've never thought of? Try subliminals they work for me especially hypnodaddy. You just have to believe and be consistent on listening to his "improve basketball skills subliminal". Try it out bro you'll be amazed i was hitting so much shots just listening for 3 days. My 3 pointer went from 20% to 30% in just 3 days or don't listen i dont really care what you do just telling you that it works :)
Hey, so I'm a big/forward 5 11 and play center for my school and start and uasually shoot 60% threes what our coach says and this video helped me out a lot since I'm one of the leading scorers for my team
just practice shooting threes for an hour and all of the were airballs and i dont know what i did wrong... cant tell you how much this was helpful to me... cus those were all the little mistakes i did and i know now how to fix it
Honestly, my biggest problem is an inconsistent shooting form. Even if I have bad form, if I practice enough, I can make it work because it’s consistent, but when my form is constantly changing, I’m never gonna be s solid shooter.

I was the best shooter on the team now randomly i have a chicken wing and shit

I’ve been the best shooter for 2 years and I can’t even make a single shot after lockdown

I am more comfortable doing a Pull-Up off the dribble Jump-shot, rather than a spot-up jumper. Any tips & who's with me
Same here
Same i have no idea why my jumper feels much smoother of a pull up rather than a spot up.

Hey would you mind posting a video of your before technique as a Trial&Error and After technique is Progressive Mastery
Yes I got it
Can you make a video on how to make more contested jumpers?
ChainSwang 22 Dont get scared by the defense and try to use the same exact form that you would normally use
Do some drills with your friends, have them run at you, forcing a quick release. But practice keeping the same mechanics as an open shot
ChainSwang 22 also when practicing go game speed and high arc
ChainSwang 22 practice unbalanced / uncomfortable shots on a daily.

Colin, you're awesome man. Thanks for putting out these videos. You've got this sport down to a science.
Targeting and spacing will be my focal points this week, great training tips.
Thank for the tips I'm a need it for high school basketball games when I play
If y'all shot is broken nothing wrong with it just keep on grinding, get better what u love playing.
Nah sometimes there is something actually wrong and it’s better to fix and become better than grinding towards nowhere
I was one of those people that shoot with their head up. This cause me to shoot really high because my set point was high. Thank you for telling me looking through my eyebrow is normal cause it’s very different for me to do.
I found more space in between my feet make my shot more accurate
Thank you sir. I won my school match today and now I’m going to practice that when I’m at the trampoline park with my friend.
I could shoot but i always brick from the 3 but i never airball

Amazing tips ! I never realised I had been doing it all wrong ! Thank you so much for this enlightening video :))
#2 is absolutely spot on. had a problem with inconsistently tilting my head back before shooting which led to random hitches here and there.
His shooting challenge isn't free. You click the link and it tells you to purchase :/

Damn my shot that bad, RUclips even knows it, thanks for the tips I need them
That advice with my head position.really.helped me out. Thxs
Recommended to play at speed 0.75x. SOunds natural and not crazy slow
Thanks coach I really need this!!thank you for uploading :)

Can you pls do how to increase range without 'thumbing' the ball because I can't get the strength to make it to the basket without thumbing the ball

I was doing my first jump shot and it managed to get in almost perfectly, thanks for the tips!
Hey coach, thanks alot! I find your vids very helpful. Loving your content 👌🤘 keep up the good work bruh 🔥
Thank you for this video. There are many things in that video that I can apply for my shots.
Bro i changed my form to this and instantly started makeing more shots
one thing i realized recently is that you need to know your form. i cannot stress this enough. know what you do when you shoot and every aspect of it. because when you're cold, you're doing something you don't normally do and if you don't know what it is, it'll be hard to get out of the slump and maybe you'll end up making whatever you're not doing correctly a habit.
I want this guy as my trainer
Just watching the vid to support Coach Collin. My shot's not broke, but I'm in a slump right now.
This helps
Watch this video late last night, went to the gym this afternoon, by far I was the best shooter in there today. Thank u
Do I target at the back rim, front rim, or in between the rim?
Front of the rim
+KrispyKidTay ni
+KrispyKidTay.*no
just look at the basket, overthinking will make it worse
Yea I never try to "aim" at anything I just look and shoot
When I shot like this I don't seem to get any power, but when I do it in a "broke" way I can hit half courts easily (power)
yeah the main problem was my elbow
Thanks for the tips 👍😁
help me my shot is perfect but when i go to three i loose it all
CasualAmar start from inside out
sounds like its not perfect
what do u mean
if its not going in its obviously not perfect
3 point shooting is more so in ya legs than ya arms. Proper power and balance is important.
Bro thank you so much you helped me and now I'm on the varsity lineup as a freshman thx bro
Jared Prather Nice, hope I can do the same

Bro I swear whenever it's the rim I cant do anything it's like my brain prevents me from shooting it correctly this is so weird and frustrating
Gator Melon it's all mental try focusing more but not too much
You're right I'll try to not think about anything when I shoot I'll just shoot normally from close range and try to be comfortable even if it doesn't go in at first
Gator Melon when ever you get to a basket just get in front of the rim and practice on your release form that should help
awesome i'll give the head tilt a try i couldn've figure what was the problem with my shot for several years, and i wear glasses now this makes sense . Thank you
Pretty Amazing .Thank you . God Bless Even More 😄💯
Thank you so much man! You smashed this video coach. That's what I was missing! My head placement and something else I think.
The issue with my shot is that it takes so long for my hands to feel comfortable shooting off the dribble. Often the ball slips a bit in my hand and then ive lost control of the ball as i go up. What can i do about this?
Miguel Danlag baby powder ur hands
Just like the other dude said.Powder up your hands or do drills to the point that you feel comfortable shooting off the dribble.Only repeating the same move will make you better at it.
a confident dribble off the wood and zero in like the video teaches. keep shooting until youre out of a slump!
Practice and repetition. Try thinking ahead of what you're going to do during the play, so that you're more comfortable when shooting off a dribble.
Practice grip
Thank you for the video. You brought alot of things to my attention that I was doing wrong with my shot. It makes alot of sense now. You are the GOAT on youtube with the videos. Thank you and keep it up. 💯🏀💪
Sir, I want to know when to jump in your jumpshot. I mean how to sync the shot and the jump.
Aniket Dash Shoot the ball as you're still rising in your jump for maximum arc and range

1. You watch too much NBA. 2. Your broke for basketball classes. 3. You rage when you miss the shot.
i shoot with my right hand but my left hand isn t looking like an arm so it s harder to stabilize the ball so i needed this video ,thank you and god bless yall
Man U have a good shot but your haircut it’s horrible
No cap he need to see this
Noticed a huge difference by shooting through your eyebrows thanks for tip
So don't shoot like Lonzo. Got it
Hahahahaha
Thanks so much
okay I need actual help here.
I can send video if you can help... or just send me a video of how to help with gripping the ball when in midair.
BMike TN3 your suppose to grip the ball in mid air?
I don't shoot 60% threes lol I mean our team has to shoot about 60% threes and 40 % 2s lol
Shot mechanics plz can you give me a shoutout that would be amazing
just practice shooting threes for an hour and all of the were airballs and i dont know what i did wrong... cant tell you how much this was helpful to me... cus those were all the little mistakes i did and i know now how to fix it
There is no secret to shooting.... Just practice practice practice
Caleb Primbs Yeah there is actually
Yes I found one of problem that is the head point thx
Ayy who a warriors fan too? Like if you agree 😉👍🏻
Honestly, my biggest problem is an inconsistent shooting form. Even if I have bad form, if I practice enough, I can make it work because it’s consistent, but when my form is constantly changing, I’m never gonna be s solid shooter.
