Has Dallas’ depth made them ‘frontrunner' to make deep Cup run?

- The Stars took a 3-1 series lead after winning two games in Colorado, and the Canes forced a Game 6 against the Rangers. TSN Hockey analyst Martin Biron joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss the Avalanche losing Valeri Nichushkin for the playoffs, if Dallas is the frontrunner to win the Stanley Cup, and how the momentum has shifted from the Rangers to Carolina.

Byron has been against Dallas all damn year. The fact that he's finally a believer shows you Dallas is the real deal.
Screw the analysts screw the haters. Everyone in dallas knew the team we had, the heartbreaks weve experienced being here years prior, the moves weve made to become serious contenders. People want to sleep on the stars for whatever reason, they dont seem to care and that is the team i want to see. Bad calls? Who cares, get a shorthanded goal and outshoot the opponent on their own home ice on the pp.
People spend so much time on the final score. Ive said from game 1 the avs were in trouble especially if the gf average goes down. Scoring is the avs bread and butter. If that stat goes down they are going to struggle to find a new game. The stars slowly but surely beat that offense into the ground. avs went from scoring 4 to 3 to 1 twice against a team that revels in tight close games.A team that averaged5 goals a night against a vezina trophy finalist. They are getting the snot beat out of them in the faceoff circle and dallas special teams are skating circles around them. The avs are one of the best comeback teams in the league, but never having a lead makes that pretty irrelevant.
If you want the real reason the stars are succesful thus far bc its not really a mystery. This team is HUNGRY. They have lost to the cup champs multiple times in the recent years and sure everyone likes to pretend they have no reason being here and they arent worth talking about this team has only gotten better in the face of being counted out. They deserve the current results they are receiving. Still a lot of hockey to be played and by no means is this series over, regardless of what socal avalanche fans cry about and try to convince you that it is. the hardest win is #4 and against the avs it aint coming easy. No way in hell it is. while dallas may never get love from the analysts, they are a great team nd deserve some resect.
No doubt, couldn’t have said it better myself. These boys played with hate in the first round for revenge and that has gave them even more confidence and now they are even more hungry for the win. Benn is playing smart excellent playoff hockey and the rest of the team is putting in work as a “team” and Oettinger has returned to peak it looks like. If this team keeps going like they are then they definitely can take Lord Stanley home this year.
Remember back with Byron was adamant Dallas wouldn’t go far in these playoffs 😆
Hockey is so damn unpredictable though 😅
@@waynegreen7634 I hope they jinx stars and avs turn it around lol but seriously how could you predict nichuskin fuck up so bad whole team was like paralyzed and playing against super hungry talented and deep team
Didn’t he say the Stars were fools gold
@@pritok6if one player is that critical to a team there’s no way they make it all the way
Who is "Byron" ?
As a Dallas fan I thought Dallas could go to Colorado and win both games. Just because the commentators and analyst do not like the team doesn't mean the rest of the world cannot see how talented they are.
Oh stop with the "the commenters aren't being homers therefore they hate my team" nonsense.
Dallas plays better on the road than at home
@@LinkRocks You apparently haven't been watching these series then. TNT is the worst with ESPN a close 2nd. Some have been decent but it's a far cry from impartial.
Wyatt Johnston is already a fabulous player... He's a future superstar. This kid is unreal, from his days leading the Windsor Spitfires to now... WOW.
man, and people called me crazy when i said dallas was my favourite for the cup, said colorado would beat them easily lmao. love colorado but dallas deserves the cup
BTW have to win 2 morr rounds to deserve the cup
Thanks for the heads up
Either Rangers or Florida will win Stanley cup. And it's not clear if Dallas even makes into finals. Edmonton is very good team and McDavid might be too much for Dallas.
I'm going to predict Stanley cup finals are between Florida and Edmonton and Florida wins Stanley cup in game 6.
@@aapoheikkila5542 thing is dallas has more depth than any other team still standing and being the best road team, they would destroy even the rangers in new york and florida too
Watch out for Dallas! They have flown under the radar all year and just take a look at what is happening now
@@TheDoooburnerDude, please. I am also a Stars fan but I assure you, the general hockey media in the United States and Canada doesn't think twice about the Stars. They literally almost never even come up in conversation. This team flies under the radar every season, not just this year. It may not seem that way if you live in Texas but to the rest of North America the stars are absolutely the team they hear the least about.
@@brainspout3447As a longtime stars fan Im used to not being noticed and Im ok with it. Let them doubt us! ⭐️ 💪
@@brainspout3447 The NHL hates the Stars for some reason. Even the media does but that's ok too.
@@DubeSkins-ok2dv I've seen that happen a couple times too. What I'm primarily talking about is the daily coverage and banter online and on TV from hockey media. You can watch NHL TV literally for months without Stars coverage. Same goes for NHL radio. I'm actually a subscriber and it is shocking when the occasion happens that they mentioned the Stars.
Can somebody with video editing skills please put together a compilation of Makar "attempting" to play defence in these playoffs?
He's soooo bad lol, we need to break the public hypnosis that he's the next Bobby Orr, he can't defend shit.
Love all the people saying the Avs are a contender when they haven't lead a single minute in this series.
Jim Nill. That’s all you need to know. He is the reason for our depth. We have drafted and internally developed so many of our best roster spots. Plus he’s pulled off some unbelievable trades. NILL is the 🐐
Every team has injuries, Colorado has been absolutely power shafted by the Stars team play and depth. Dallas in 5, close em out and move on!
Lack of effort is why colorado lost game 2 and 4, but ok
@@michaelangst6078 When you realize the Avs have not led one sec of this series, maybe you'll see the light.
Great opening segment. The NHL was like, "do you remember last year how you lost when Val was out," . . . "well we're doing it again."
The short answer is YES. They have the best young talent on any roster producing clutch goals & play. Wyatt Johnston, Logan Stankoven & then their established vets like Jason Robinson, Roope Hintz, Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn & Joe Pavelski plus all star defender Miro Heiskanen & outstanding goaltender Jake Oettinger this team is deep.
As an Avs fan, I hope they go far
Dallas played 2/3 of the game without their #1 centre
I did. If you thought the Avs at any point the were going to dictate this series I feel bad for you and the realization you just got last night. It was always Dallas's series to lose
Go Stars Go! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
No other team has had to go without their top players in the last few years than the avs. We are cursed.
Unless Edmonton can find some stellar goaltending, Dallas will represent the West in the Stanley Cup final.
Edmonton should rightfully be focused on getting past Vancuover at the moment.
@@MatthewSmith-fy5hk Unless Vancouver pulls off a miracle of epic proportions, Dallas will represent the West in the Stanley Cup final.
I had the Avs over the Stars however the news over the last 24 hours has me thinking this is going to go thr Stars way. Losing Toews is insurmountable for the Avs IMO he is too important.
They weren't even winning with Toews and Nichushkin. Colorado's chances without them are slim to none.
Yes
Lmfao, one win away from the 3rd round, I bet you feel smart for saying they just might have a deep playoff run...lmfao 😂
You’re a little late to the party. They are 3-1 up in the 2nd round.
put Justus Annunen in net. Avs will win 3 straight and win the cup.
Rangers 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 LGR
Neon green see threw pants 🌟👖🖼️🏳️🌈
yeah put.... Val and Toews in the lineup... still would have been beat real bad.
It would have been a totally different game, they were crushed by losing nichuskin before the game
@@kalebmcdaniel9147 The Avs haven't had the lead at any point in the series. The Stars are just the better team all around.
@@kalebmcdaniel9147 Get a clue, genius. They haven't had the lead a single second even with those two. Dallas played almost the whole game without their top line center.
Less than a fith is about dallas fix your title
Whoa, Florida isn't as much of a cup favorite than Dallas or NY? Come on now.
I feel like Florida has had weaker opponents than Dallas. Boston is no joke, but Stars had Vegas and Colorado back to back
@chairmanofthebored6860 I totally agree Dallas should be a strong favorite, I'm just saying Florida has looked really good so far. They can only play the team in front of them(regarding competition)
Florida and Edmonton will be in finals.
Canes can beat any team with their best in class defense. If they get their pp together and goalie hot, they jump to top contender.
Florida vs Oilers or Canucks in final.
FLA vs VAN would/will have higher ratings!
@@toorop111ya i agree ur right about that
know one in west is winning the cup
@@bryanwouters443 coming from someone that doesn't know the difference between NO and KNOW 😂
Nope
They are an okay team thanks to great goaltending. Rangers or Carolina would crush Dallas.
Lol. Sure. You obviously know what you're talking about. 😂
There isn't a team in the league that would "crush Dallas" in a seven-game series. Have you even taken a look at the depth they have? No team in the league can match that depth. I'm not saying that New York, Carolina, or Florida can't beat them, but Dallas will at least make it close.
@@billpierce3841 That's all you got...No argument or substance. Typical loser.
@@zubiecup As long as Dallas has good goaltending which they didn't have in they last meet up with the Rangers.
Dallas is a force. Florida will win. Roast me if I’m wrong.
How when Florida has a similar offensive playstyle as the Avs? Take away their rush through the neutral zone or the dump and chase and what do they do? Bob is a wall but walls can be broken down
@@Jedalgo Dallas has a home ice problem. Florida seems to be getting the calls in their favor this year. Bennett / Marchand reminds me of Kadri / Binnington from 2022.
Dallas? The team that barely beat a Vegas team that has to cheat to win?
You really should think a little harder about what you just said. You just implied, with the worst logic I've seen online in a while, that the Stars are bad because they beat a team that cheated to stack its roster. I hope you were drunk when you wrote that.
@@zubiecup Right. That's like you beat Mike Tyson and he bit your ear off.
I don't even listen to other commentators on ESPN and TNT. I put my TV on mute and turn on Josh and Razor on The Ticket on my phone. Definitely cheering Stars for the cup. Been a fan since '93. So happy they brought hockey to Texas. I remember catching games on channel 21, for free, and amazed by the level of skill it takes to play. 💚🏒⭐😮😊
Josh and Razor are THE BEST in the NHL. I have such a hard time syncing it up that it gives me Gordo syndrome.
