@@AliceFordAdventures : Hi Alice. I had traveled 6700 miles in 27 days out west. I started with Mt. Rushmore, The Bad Lands of South Dakota, Yellowstone, The Grand Tetons, Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon and worked in Hot Springs NP, Arkansas. There are so many beautiful parks in the lower 48 states. Hopefully, these parks will be around for MANY years to come. At Mt. Rushmore area was the Crazy Horse Monument. Thank you.
@@AliceFordAdventures : My Oldest daughter was 5 at the time, but she does remember the trip. She and I hiked up some of those narrow game paths...6 inches wide in the Bad Lands. We also got to see the prairie dog villages. Like I initially said, what great memories even though I cannot do them any longer.
@@dalekundtz4603 I am so glad you have those memories with your daughter what a great way to share a love for the outdoors. My dad inspired my love for nature too
Yes, Death Valley is a marvelous and distinctive park! We've been visiting the park for years and never tire of it's rustic landscape. The majority of the roads are unpaved and many require 4x4 SUV's with HIGH clearance. Fortunately, Jeeps can be rented in Furnace Creek!
I like your icon for this video: Teakettle Junction is a fun spot to visit. I have two teakettles that I recovered from there when the Rangers were clearing them out. One's in my camper, and every time I boil water in it for tea or hot cocoa, I think of Death Valley and the great hikes I've had there.
Alice, you are the PERFECT hostess for your programs. You explain things very well, and the excitement of exploring is your personal touch! Being new here, I have only watched 4 of your videos so far, and I love each one! ❤ Keep Going Girl! I'm with you!👍🇺🇲
Thanks Alice for this excellent video, very informative and wonderful views! I’ve recently passed through DVNP and had no chance to see much besides Zabriskie point and what we see from the road but your video gives me the chance to see what I have missed. Keep on sharing your good work!
Thanks for your video. I stumbled upon it while looking for info about DVNP. I wrote everything down and I think this winter I shall go there. Keep on traveling!
I visited death valley last weekend for the 1st time and iam already planning a return to explore more. The racetrack is a must for me next time and iam looking into zion now. thanks beautiful
Thanks for sharing all of that great information. Those are all some of our favorite places. Zion has to be our most favorite. I don't always read all of the history about the places we visit and just go in cold to see what we find. So I love all of the info as well as the scenery. (sub'd)
Wow Alice you are a plethora of information! I didn't know you could see over 90 miles from one lookout point. I think that is a song! Don't you have to watch the weather when hiking the Narrows in case of flash floods? Did you get water in your tall boots? The glass bottle walls were pretty cool too. You are an excellent guide and such an upbeat person. Happy exploring!
Hi Alice, My brother Ken and I took a trip to Bryce National Park. What is a really cool thing to do is to take the Horse 🐎 Ride tour they offer through Brice. I was nervous that the Horse might lose it's footing and fall off the Trail, but my Horse never did. The Horse Ride in Bryce I recommend 👌 Dave (Driver of the "Going to the Sun Road" in GNP 5 times)
My favorite part of your delightful video is the Death Valley segment. Glad you made it out to the Race Track Playa which most people do not. Your video is peaceful and easy to watch and music adds a fun mood without over powering. Your more distant shots audio would be better if you had a remote microphone. Thanks for posting this to youtube.
Really nice video Alice, you missed Eureka Sand Dunes in Death Valley and they are much nicer then Mesquite Dunes and a LOT easier to get to then the Racetrack. While visiting Bryce you should have driven 50 more miles East to the town of Esacalante and explored the Hole in the Rock Road.
Thanks Mike I hope you have An amazing trip. Buses will be running in June for Zion so keep in mind you will have to take that to all stops inside the main park.
We shot this video in February. It should be a little warmer in October then when I visited, however there will be cooler temperatures especially in Bryce Canyon. If you do all three parks expect to go from the 80's in Death Valley down to 60's and possibly 50's in Zion and Bryce.
The peak season at Death Valley is November 15 through the end of February. During that time window, temperatures at the lower elevations are still mild and you can find shade in the canyons if you are on a hike and it's a warm day. At elevations from 3000' and up, for instance at Eureka Dunes or Wildrose Canyon, Skidoo, and Aguereberry Point, it is very cold at night in December and January; I camped for a week once at Wildrose, in early January, and it got down to 15°F overnight. At Eureka Dunes in January, overnight lows will typically be down in the mid-20's, so be prepared with proper cold weather clothes and sleeping bag if you are going to the higher elevations in the winter months. At Furnace Creek, which is below sea level, temperatures are milder, maybe down to the low 30's at night in December and January. In October or March, it can be over 90°F during the day, and only cools down to the mid 60's at night. I only go in March if there's been heavy winter rain and the park is having a "Super-Bloom" wildflower display, like in the winter of 2015/2016.
I'm a bit confused about something, Alice. I've been told drones are not allowed in NP's? I have one, a DJI Pro Platinum, but figured I wouldn't be able to use it in any of the parks I'll be visiting in a few months. This may be a touchy subject to approach here on this venue, so I'll leave that where it's at. Who knows, we may meet at a park sometime. I'll be on my "Y Tour" of Yellowstone & Yosemite, visiting as many of the grand places in between as I can in this 3-month tour of the west. Starting April 21st. this year.
I'm wondering what footwear would be best for hiking that trail? A good pair of waterproof pants would be a good idea I think for colder weather, but I think my old diving shoes may be best for the warmer weather. What do you think?
For the narrows? It depends on type of year, in summer you’ll probably want a Teva Sandal or something like that. In winter you’ll want waterproof sneakers and waders. Most of the outdoor stores also rent dry suits with booties as well
Yes it is Possible. But start early and allow more time for Zion. In the summer Zion is only accessible by shuttle bus so park in town and take the bus into the park. Once there the shuttle will take to all the trails and points of interest in total 8 stops. Weeping rock would be a short 1 mile hike for your family. There is also a flat trail across from the Zion lodge close to the entrance. If you leave Zion by 2pm you can reach Bryce by 4pm at the latest and explore Bryce via the rim loop by car. If you do have time walk down the Queens Garden Trail.
She's not kidding about taking along a tire repair kit if you drive out to the racetrack to see the moving rocks. I drove there and had three flat tires; had to drive out on rims, which ruined the tires.
If I have watched your video first, I would have tried the pie out. Is this the compilation of your many adventures? I see you have different clothes for different seasons of the year. Great video!
Hi. So glad you enjoyed it. This was actually shot over a one week trip from Los Angeles to Bryce Canyon. All three of these amazing parks can be visited in sequence. they all have very differing elevations and climates, leading to a diverse and unforgettable experience.
Wow, how did you avoid the crowds of people in Zion? We went there a couple of years ago and the roads were worse than a freeway in a big city! Enjoyed seeing you explore God's beautiful creation though! Isn't He awesome?
I went in the off season in March. The river running through the narrows was freezing but we were almost all alone in many parts of the park. Thanks for watching. It really is a beautiful place.
Liked your video, but just wanted to let you know there is some question of whether or not the use of drones to take videos in National Parks is legal. You might want to check into it, as others have been criminally charged for doing so, and by posting on RUclips, you may be leaving yourself wide open to more hassles than it is worth.
Plastic water bottles should be banned from entering the national parks should be a law a proper drinking vessel should only be allowed I went to a national Park and I was disgusted on how many water bottles were laying on the ground blowing in the wind.
They were banned by Obama and sadly Trump overturned it when he got into office 4 years ago. I hope they switch back. This country has a terrible lack of public fountains and options for those not wanting to buy plastic bottles.
I enjoyed the video except for the flying of the drone in the national park which is illegal. The national parks are places of peace and natural solitude which are destroyed by the annoying sound of drones!
nevadaxtube In order to have committed a Crime she would have had to cause bodily injury or damage to Property!!! I saw none of those things!! No Crime Committed!
Well.....that rules out driving too... If noise is considered to be the main problem, they could also make a list of 'silent enough' drones; my brother owns a DJI Mavic Pro that only makes a unobtrusive buzzing sound.
I am now 65 and in a wheelchair. I had visited all oof these parks and have memories of their beauty. Thank you for the reminder.
You are so welcome Dale. Are there any parks you would like me to make a video about?
