Every parent ought to have a better choice, a choice of spending more days, weeks, months, time with her/his newborn baby without worrying and stressing about work in order to put food on the table or pay bills for essentials.
My dear mother experienced what in Buganda traditions was like a leave. A new mother could get help ( other women(relatives) could help with housework and cooking for like a week) and that was all.
What is worse than what my mother experienced back then is that there are many parents today even in the so-called developed countries who do not have a choice.
If I was a great leader with great influence in politics and economics or if I was very rich, I would make sure that every parent especially mothers experience to choose Paid parental benefits and leaves like the one I have experienced in Norway.
