@@dove_shampoo2957 if your underwhelmed, do this in greed mode + bomber boy + scatter bombs + glimmer bombs + sad/brim bombs. You will clear the waves easily and stay at full health. Works better the more red hearts you have between floors, just don't use blood bombs, those eat up frames and mess with the layers

One of those items that really requires a good run + character with which to use it IMO, plus you knowing what it does. IF you have a lot of heart containers and some extra soul/black hearts it can work out for you. You _can_ get a lot of use out of it, I guess I just feel like it's the victim of Devil Deals not always offering as many items as they should. Blood Oath's much more situational than stuff like The Pact, Ceremonial Robes, Death's Touch and etc.
I had a crazy good run with Maggy with this item + Bloody Gust. 4 heart containers was enough for 2.00 speed, 6+ fire rate, and very high damage. With Yum heart it was easy enough to heal up before the next floor and get the stat boost again. It's not always a good item, but if you can make it work, it's extremely powerful.
Its great with Eve, you can exchange your life draining active item for something better and pick up health up without fear of wasting soul hearts in your standart form. Samson mabe if you are good at keeping soul hearts up but you want him on lots of red health anyway so the high reward may come at a life starving risk if you don't have maggies bow or other heal boosting items/combos (serpents kiss+game boy). For other characters its either mediocre, useless or life threatening

Honestly I'm surprised they weren't cruel enough to have Blood Oath reduce spirit heart-based characters like the blue baby to half a spirit heart at the beginning of every floor with this item considering how items like the dead cat work.
It’s not cruelty, it’s balance Dead cat gives you 9 lives with 1 hp, Blue baby’s “hp” is exclusively soul hearts (a change demonstrated in how hp ups add a soul heart instead) Normal characters can have soul hearts but that isn’t their hp stat, so their soul hearts are untouched Blood oath is more exclusively about emptying red heart containers. _That’s mechanical consistency, baby_ Besides, forcing you to start every floor with half a spirit heart for non-challenge characters would be malicious beyond any logical through-line. You should have more faith in the devs, they aren’t just dicks for no reason
its good with polaroid, plus blood oath actually forces u down to polaroid status when u go down anyways so ur gonna be completely safe from the troll bombs

Bozo is almost guaranteed to proc the rainbow poop effect since blood oath does ticks, got it from a crawl space during my Bloody Mary run and could instantly heal back to full on each floor
Nothing happens until you swap back to the one holding Blood Oath. That side of Lazarus will then be stabbed :D Also if you swap away, the bonus will be removed. I think it's a bug though.

Teleporting will not help you avoid the stab :D
The stabbing animation pauses as you teleport and resumes once you arrive at the destination

Does blood oath trigger Panic Button? If so, then panic button + book of shadows would negate blood oath automatically
If you leave the room while right as you get stabbed, only a few bombs will spawn no matter how much health you lost.
