You know, junk food can improve symptoms in some cases if the person is sensitive to fibers, oxalates, lectins and phytates because processing removes these. It can feel good for 2 reasons-1 there is less antigenicity, and 2 there is less antinutrient "stealing" of minerals, vitamins, amino acids and fats from the intestinal lumen. Hello dr, I m 38 yo, male. I have started to feel gut problems when I was 30. Two years ago I developed a lower back disc degeneration and my life became a hell. I found some relief after I switched to keto. My gut health improved too but not very well so I began taking digestive enzymes supplements which really helped a lot. Even my body got fitter without working out. I am very happy with this outcome. Is it dangerous keeping on taking them continuously? Thanks 😊
I think pineapple can be a good food, but because it can cause chancre sores on the mouth it may be more powerful to get concentrated powder for enzyme use as a supplement when needed. However, there should not be a long term need for these if the life is balanced.
This video was very informative, thanks! One thing that's unclear is how many enzyme supplements to take with a a meal. The labels on the packages seem vague on purpose.
The labels are vague on purpose to appease the FDA. Generally with enzymes and digestive herbs I start with a micro dose if the patient is sensitive, see what they tolerate, and then increase the dose with meals over days until I reach a max effective dose. ITs an experiment for each person. Enzymes can be taken beyond the max label, after all they are food anyway. some people get a burning feeling with lots of Bromelain and have to stop.
Great video ...I have had my gallbladder removed about 27 years ago and have all of these symptoms you talked about ..ie gas belching constipation etc..any advice please about supplements when bile is not available in its concentrated form from the gallbladder ?..THANKS
I don't know about your specific situation but luckily generally most adults are considered to have so much space available in the tubes (ducts) of the liver and pancreas separate from the gallbladder that we can store nearly as much there as we can in a gallbladder. The loss of the gallbladder should not preclude a person from good digestion by itself, but if we don't fix the cause of why it was removed, the digestion may suffer until we figure it out and rebalance the bile. In my experience most gallbladder removal patients who truly corrected their diets had no problems without a gallbladder. That often means bucking the severely outdated US dietary guidelines, however.
@@cameronfredericks1145 I did take one this morning on empty stomach, I felt so sick for about 1 hour I was about to walk to the hospital? Then I start to feel warm even my feet were, always cold, my left side didn’t hurt at all
many acupuncture, cupping and chiropractic methods can also help in addition to diet. These are clinical findings, not always validated by placebo controlled studies due to budget and special interest politics.
I am not sure there are safety issues, but I do not take them at the same time-I separate them by 3 hours I do not want them to mix in the stomach with each other.
No gallbladder. Heard about oxbile. What is your take on taking oxbile? I take a probiotic with enzymes. I take a multivitamin. Vitamin D3 and magnesium.
I think that an animal based diet will not need digestive enzyme supplements in about 3 weeks-unless they have abnormal liver or pancreas enzymes, gallstones, high triglycerides, insulin resistance, or chronic pancreatitis (does not show up in bloodwork-sometimes shows fecal chymotrypsin). when my patients and I eat a mostly plant based diet, we need enzyme supplements frequently but not continuously.
I have some gallstones small, without any obstruction or pain. Will digestive enzymes help me to digest fat cause I feel bloated sometimes if I eat high fat meal. I am on key
I see you are on keto from your other message. I cannot tell you for sure, but generally I see this a lot-where people need to support their bile function when on low carb or keto or carnivore diets. I did too for myself. It took me a few weeks to make my bile stronger and I used enzymes, ox bile, zinc lozenges for stomach acid, lecithin, and magnesium, and some L-carnitine and L-taurine to support my bile. Some people have a chronic heavy metal burden that complicates this through toxic bile recycling. Now It is much easier to digest saturated fats and more meats. I had to reduce grains and dairy too, although many are fine with organic dairy. (As a chef, don't get me started about access to raw dairy and other raw foods!-that's another topic) Thanks!
I am confused when to take the digestive enzymes.i already take betaine HCl as I start my meal and I feel like this improved my digestion but more with proteins than starchy stuff.i want to add enzymes.should i wait until an hour after eating so the hcl doesnt mess with the enzymes.
Actually digestive enzymes require low (acid) pH so combining them with HCL supplements is a good idea. The time is not crucial as long as they all mix with the food during the 3 hours spent in the stomach.
My experience is not validated, but I see food lectins inhibit the function of the liver and pancreas chronically, and stopping antinutrient intake (grains, beans, nuts and seeds) tends to help EPI. This observation is unproven with controlled trials, but thats what I observe.
Hello, I have recently become vegan, and I am eating mainly legumes, fruit, vegetables, and whole grain bread. Since I started, I have been getting a lot of gas and bloating, not just after I eat, but all day. I have been taking a lot of Gas X, sometimes it helps a little, but it's not supposed to be used long term I assume. I am trying the low FOBMAT diet, and I am not yet sure whether it's working. The low FOBMAT diet doesn't seem too sustainable because you are missing out on a lot of nutrients that you need from fruits, vegetables and legumes and for vegans legumes are the best source of protein. I assume that I am having trouble with all the fiber. I have wanted to try BEANO which I believe is a digestive enzyme, but I also know that there are others brands that might be of a higher quality. What would you suggest for me?
Now tends to be a reliable inexpensive company, generally I like bromelain and other enzymes like amylase and proteases from a store that is a member of the NPA natural products association.
I've noticed that a wee pinch of salt in tap water causes the water cells to plump. That's outgoing and absorbing. It has a slippery feel to it. What do you think? Would that help this mouth dryness? I just quit smoking because it dried me so bad, plus, it offset my breathing and I couldn't trainnmy breaths to stay normal. I'm about past that. You'll save twice as much. Anyhow, the dryness. It makes people angry or depressed or quick to snap. It hurts. What pills might help? Do 'Fitumins' work as enzymes? Which ones if so, for saliva dryness? I have no bile. I had the surgery as a young adult.
Salt increases surface tension of water, this may explain what you observed. Also, smoking drains zinc and other minerals from the body, and this loss of electrolyte balance can be subtle and dehydrating. Do you mean vitamins? I don't know what fitumins are. A trace mineral formula can help with dryness, as can vitamin A and saturated fats over time. If one has surgery to remove the gallbladder, the pancreas and liver are always still there or you are dead, and they continue to produce bile, and store it n the ductwork of the organs-less efficient, but quite adequate. If bile is insufficient, it usually can be reversed. Lectins inhibit bile production in some people.
Its not uncommon for indigestion to cause gas pressure that presses up on the diaphragm and cause palpitations. Correcting digestion can help generally.
In your clinical experience.. Have you had good success using certain anti-microbials to rid the intestines of bacterial and fungal overgrowth.. I've tried Oregano but didn't do much
You know, sometimes herbal and other natural preparations are super effective but when they are not, I have seen 3 main reasons. One is chronic heavy metal exposure and retention which just fuels bad bacteria, fungi and even cancer cells. Two, poor gut motility from a brain injury concussion, and three, too much carbs ratio to fats and protein (usually grains and nut flours in otherwise healthy eaters). Look for a reason if you can win the battle against bad organisms. Ultimately we have to find a way to starve them (the bad flora) while keeping the person alive and thriving.
Yes! wonderful books by Densmore. I believe history (schoolbook) is written by the victors, and big agriculture won the contest for health books in schools. Too bad. I wish we had a survey of more options growing up in health class.
@@TheHumanCondition Well said. I am happy to have found your channel, Densmore gave the theoretical foundation and I believe there are still more advancements which can be made. From this video I got information about protease and lipase where Densmore only wrote about amylase. In my own research I found hemp to be the ideal hygienic fabric for me, which fell below the radar when he was writing Consumption and Chronic Disease. There is even a new formaldahyde free milk protein fabric re-invented in Germany about a decade ago, which I have not yet been lucky enough to experience. I could go on and on but I'll just let you keep making videos!
What about the issue with the lack of enteric coating on the supplements? Will the pills survive the journey through the acidic stomach? Prescribed digedtive enzyme capsules are coated to ensure they reach the small intestine.
That can be a problem. Some digestive enzymes can be activated by stomach acid or even survive stomach acid. There has been a story told in medicine that all proteins are destroyed down to amino acids in the stomach, but when you analyze healthy stool you see it isn't mostly happening. Inefficiencies are common in biological systems and that feeds the next downstream organism in the food/waste chain. Probiotics and enzymes often make it through the stomach in practicality, and so do many large molecules as plant medicinal compounds. Otherwise plant medicines could not work and they do make it into the bloodstream when eaten. An enteric coating does help some patients.
Tough one-I do try many herbs for support but this is dangerous parasite of freshwater contaminated by feces, and it is mostly outside the US. I would work with a tropical disease specialist and rotate drugs and retest until it is gone. sorry, I'm holistic mostly but not this time. I am not sold on the idea of vaccines for parasites at this time. Wormwood has been used around the tropics for some time and increasing bodily resistance through diet and hygienic water supply can help. Wormwood can be toxic too, so we must be careful. The liver and the bladder can fail with this disease, so whatever is tried-testing is required as these worms live a long time. www.nature.com/articles/s41572-018-0013-8
Hello doc. I have a long term problem with fat digesting and got sticky stool. Sometimes its all good and sometimes the sticky stool problem comes in.. I generally eat a wide variety of plant and animal based foods. Can a short course of digestive enzyme help me with it? Thanks doc
Have you been diagnosed with anything? Asking if digestive enzymes will help makes me think you haven't... Look up exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. I was diagnosed and suffer awful with digestion and fat even on enzyme replacement.
Many people use digestive enzymes for their whole life in order to digest food fully and to support healthy weight. The idea is that if we digest and absorb more nutrients, we will crave less calories and carbs and thus maintain weight.
If the goal is to build muscle and gain weight, then enzymes also help to again absorb more nutrients-protein for muscle, fat for fuel and carbs for the insulin surges needed to build muscle mass. Of course more exercise and calories are required.
generally I have seen this to be true, although i tend to see best results when lowering all carbs and processed dairy proteins. I see acne in the ring of the face and the chest and upper back clear up. Let us know what happens.
I have had the head of pancreas removed along with part of my stomach and spleen and have been on Creon for years. I now have no insurance and need help finding something that will work OTC. Since being off Creon I’ve lost over a 100 pounds so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I was Creon for 3 weeks, caused dehydration and I collapsed was unconscious waiting in hospital to see Dr's! The FDA published the study on Creon earlier this year. 377 patients became dehydrated and some patients committed suicide! I think this drug is dangerous, and it damages bowels! Did you have bowel problems whilst using Creon??
I tend to avoid drugs if I can. I take patients on medications and work with their pharmacists and prescribers to reduce number and dose if at all possible using other natural methods.
@@TheHumanCondition you are my kind of doc. If I can avoid big pharma meds, it's the best . I had my gall bladder and gall stones taken out , is it better to take digestion enzymes , and I keep track of bile .
Please can you tell me why my husband ate meat 🥩 for 33 years meat and his digestion was really bad now change plant base is better but not as bad. Is very sad to make specific groups as bad or worse as HUMAN we are all Different.
some people need different diets, I would ask about the quality of the meat, the grass fed option, what other foods he ate, and whether they were lectins, and what the digestive problems were. A lot to unpack here. Your lesson is a good one-no perfect diet for everyone.
hi, i have my gallbladder removed 2months ago and i feel weak everyday and not interested in foods i eat a little also i think im having a malturition. can this supplement help me? can i take this enzymes supplement and not ox bile supplement? or should i take both supplement? i was planning to take ox bile supplement only but after i see enzymes supplement im kinda confused.
Both are helpful after one is cleared from surgery to eat. Enzymes and ox bile are different. Ox bile contains bile salts that are part of digestive juice, and enzymes are also part of digestive juices and come from food. They are very safe supplements. I took both as a way to help me get used to carnivore eating.

I'm very careful with my patients and I cannot give personal directions here, so I use microdoses at first to see how any new supplement is tolerated. It is not usually necessary, but my patients tend to be sensitive. I tell my patients to consider a part of a capsule or tablet of ox bile with every meal and increase if tolerated to a level that improves digestive symptoms.
The iliocecal valve should be closed, and dysbiosis with gas and bloating keeps it open. Some people have more serious gastro (and intestinal) paresis, which is a weak gut muscle. Getting rid of processed food and adding butyric acid to feed healthy gut bacteria helps. A lower GI barium x-ray can show if the valve is open. It is not usually, but it can feel terrible.
@@TheHumanCondition I believe I have had that test . GI barium xray. The stuff I had to drink was horrible . It's been a long while since I had that test done. What I could do like Monday and see if I can get a copy of it. It could been for the Ucler test . Again I'm check it out . What I really need is a "low stomach test done .
A lower GI or barium enema study can help too as you mentioned. Motility is messed up when minerals are imbalanced and from excess plant fibers in my experience.
@@TheHumanCondition Thank you for taking your time and explaining all this to me. I do appreciate it . Long story short, I stopped eating Processed foods , junk foods, and soda since 2012 - present . Hi I'm at whole foods right now the brand that you have super enzymes advertising it has that magnesium stearate and I heard that is not good for you why should we not use magnesium stearate can you please answer me right away so I can purchase it or not
Magnesium stearate is a common additive and most people tolerate it for convenience. However, some people have autoimmune problems. allergy or GMO reaction or acute concussions or other GI or gluten sensitivities to Mg stearate. It is not necessary and it a fat additive to supplements.

I did take one this morning on empty stomach, I felt so sick for about 1 hour I was about to walk to the hospital? Then I start to feel warm even my feet were, always cold, my left side didn’t hurt at all
Hello doctor is chronic pancreatitis is reversable?
Mostly yes, an ultrasound of the live may help see if there is scarring.
liver and pancreas Ultrasound or MRI
Can it also help in rapid gastric emptying where digestion is very fast and unaablee to absorb nutrients?
yes, but usually with dietary changes and bile support beyond enzymes to regulate speed of motility. Chiropractic and acupuncture also help here.
@@TheHumanCondition u mean to cupping etc?
many acupuncture, cupping and chiropractic methods can also help in addition to diet. These are clinical findings, not always validated by placebo controlled studies due to budget and special interest politics.
Is it safe to take digest of enzyme while our mastic gum?
I am not sure there are safety issues, but I do not take them at the same time-I separate them by 3 hours I do not want them to mix in the stomach with each other.
@@TheHumanCondition Gotcha 👌 Thank you
No gallbladder. Heard about oxbile. What is your take on taking oxbile? I take a probiotic with enzymes. I take a multivitamin. Vitamin D3 and magnesium.
I love oxbile, it is useful and available. Your supplements seem good too. Try it and let us know.

so many, I like NPA member stores.

My second question after how long someone who is taking digestive enzymes and hcl should stop taking them?thanks doctor
@@TheHumanCondition thanks much doctor but my 1st question about shistosomiasis has not been answered yet
I cannot find your schisto question-send it again for me.
Oh my goodness I burp so much it’s annoying to everyone around me. Plus it is painful in my chest, I sure hope this helps.
Me too! Let us know what happens.
I have some gallstones small, without any obstruction or pain. Will digestive enzymes help me to digest fat cause I feel bloated sometimes if I eat high fat meal. I am on key
Keto*
(As a chef, don't get me started about access to raw dairy and other raw foods!-that's another topic)
Thanks!
@@TheHumanCondition thank you
I am confused when to take the digestive enzymes.i already take betaine HCl as I start my meal and I feel like this improved my digestion but more with proteins than starchy stuff.i want to add enzymes.should i wait until an hour after eating so the hcl doesnt mess with the enzymes.
Actually digestive enzymes require low (acid) pH so combining them with HCL supplements is a good idea. The time is not crucial as long as they all mix with the food during the 3 hours spent in the stomach.
@@TheHumanCondition thanks for the reply.
What if you have EPI and take creon,
My experience is not validated, but I see food lectins inhibit the function of the liver and pancreas chronically, and stopping antinutrient intake (grains, beans, nuts and seeds) tends to help EPI.
The low FOBMAT diet doesn't seem too
sustainable because you are missing out on a lot of nutrients that you need from fruits, vegetables and legumes and for vegans legumes are the best source of protein. I assume that I am having trouble with all the fiber. I have wanted to try BEANO which I believe is a digestive enzyme, but I also know that there are others brands that might be of a higher quality. What would you suggest for me?
Watch Paul Mason lecture on fiber and lectins on youtube, and search for other fiber could be bad lectures on LowCarbDownUnder youtube
I was a raw vegan/fruitarian for 7 years, and it destroyed my digestive system.. The oxalates caused massive kidney problems..BE CAREFUL
Do you have a recommendation on a digestive enzyme for someone who gets a lot of heartburn? To add to a good diet.
I experienced heart palpitations after taking them is it normal?
Its not uncommon for indigestion to cause gas pressure that presses up on the diaphragm and cause palpitations. Correcting digestion can help generally.
Hey doctor… how can I reach you for a consultation?
I do non-doctor coaching education calls on my new website humanconnditionlab.com thanks
Have you read Emmet Densmore? I've followed his hygenic theory for years on my own with good results. Some of the things you've said call him to mind.
Yes! wonderful books by Densmore.
Thanks for the comments, feel free.
Thank you for the information
@@TheHumanCondition Hello Doctor, are digestive enzymes fatal to Candida fungus?
No, I like to starve candida with a low carb diet.
do digestive enzymes from supplement last long in the body? can i take now but my next meal is maybe 4 hours later, the enzymes are still there?
no, they should be gone in 4 hours. Best to take near a meal.
@@TheHumanCondition thank you very much. i will take mine close to meal time.
Hi doc.please which herbs do you suggest for shistosomiasis parasites because I took praziquantel 4 times but nothing.

Have you been diagnosed with anything? Asking if digestive enzymes will help makes me think you haven't... Look up exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. I was diagnosed and suffer awful with digestion and fat even on enzyme replacement.
@@richiep3520 now i got no issues..

Can we use digestive enzymes for better digestion for weight gain to consume more calories. Can we use them for long term.
@@TheHumanCondition Thanks for clarifying the doubt. Means alot ❤️👌
You bet!
do I have to stay on digestive enzymes forever with epi or can my pancreatic enzymes normalize with proper diet
When one gets off plant lectins I have seen the pancreas restore function.
Does an elevated lipase means I need enzymes?
Maybe-more history and exam is needed.
can digestive enzymes help acne??
generally I have seen this to be true, although i tend to see best results when lowering all carbs and processed dairy proteins.
Thank you!
Reducing lectins and carbs helps a lot in my experience with these surgeries.

Please can you tell me why my husband ate meat 🥩 for 33 years meat and his digestion was really bad now change plant base is better but not as bad. Is very sad to make specific groups as bad or worse as HUMAN we are all
Different.
some people need different diets, I would ask about the quality of the meat, the grass fed option, what other foods he ate, and whether they were lectins, and what the digestive problems were.
@@TheHumanCondition can i take ox bile supplement and digestive enzymes supplement in every meal? or only if i only eat fatty foods?
and how many ox bile supplement and digestive enzymes supplement do you recommend should i take as a starter? i ordered 125mg ox bile capsul.
and
thankyou so much for taking time replying to my question. i really appreciate it god bless
IS there a test to see if your valve is open or close ?????
