Lindsay, you got the wrong idea of Jaq’uen Hagar (the guy in the cage who she gave the ax to) right from the beginning…he was never interested in Arya in an inappropriate way
Bob Newhart will be remembered more by the younger generation as Professor Proton from Big Bang Theory instead of the iconic stand up comedian he was, along with The Bob Newhart Show and Newhart, which I now have the theme song stuck in my head. Thanks Lindsay! I haven't heard those three names since middle school, lol.
Renly annoys me with his laziness. He’s got the biggest army in Westeros and he’s just chilling in the Stormlands hoping the Starks, Lannisters, and Stannis wipe each other out so he can just March into Kings Landing without a fight. But right now with the Lannisters and the Starks fighting in the Riverlands and Stannis on Dragonstone there’s no army between him and Kings Landing to stop him. With a little initiative Renly would already be King.
In the show (at this point), It appears that the Wildlings are almost only seen as ennemies of the Night watch (and the kingdoms as a whole) since like forever. The agreement between the Night Watch and Craster is the only exception. In the books, it's a bit more contrasted. There is some trade going on with certain wildling tribes, for instance.
That's what Craster is. The show, out of necessity and because of time constraints, combined different storylines into one character or setting. Craster represents all of the wildlings in the books that trade with the nights watch.
I think one of the best things about the show (and books, too) is how well it executes the “unreliable narrator”. And as we step back to take a look at the greater picture, it doesn’t necessarily diminish those characters’ viewpoints but rather gives us a better understanding of the characters and their motivations. You get the sense Tyrion is talking to us when he says everybody lies, that some are bad liars, some are good liars, and some are fantastic.
What is dead may never die; This is the common prayer exchanged of those who worship the Drowned God. Basically the people from the Iron Islands. The implication of "what is dead may never die" is basically "I already died once, you can't fucking kill me now." It is followed by "but will rise again, stronger and harder." This basically means that once a Ironborn is dead his soul would rest in peace and he would resurrect stronger and ever harder. It's tied literally to their drowning ritual - you are held underwater and then "resuscitated" to rise again, a tougher, raw-er dude.
Remember, Lord Commander Mormont said he personally wanted Jon and his wolf Ghost with him when they went beyond The Wall. That was after they both saved The Commanders life from the dead guy.

Craster is a Godly man. It's just that Craster's "Gods" happen to be terrible, just like him. Still, it was good of him to return Jon Snow's Valarian sword to Jeor Mormont - and not demand to keep it for himself for the "trouble". Maybe he knew that would be asking too much? Hard to say what he was thinking.
@@MugShotzReacts Yeah. I just told myself that Craster's rage meant all he could think about was "take your stuff and go!" He must not have even looked at the blade and figured it was just another sword.
Sam gave Gilly a thimble of his affection! 😊😊 I have stood next to Gwendoline Christie, and while she is tall (6'3") she isn't as tall as they made her seem in those early scenes. A bit of camera trickery or blocking maybe, or Michelle Fairley was standing in a hole. It's not that we're friends or anything. I went to see her in 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' in London, and if you were in the Pit you could mingle with the actors during a party at the end. By the way: superb production and Gwendoline was terrific. Went twice! Love your reactions, always a treat.
Steph, did you know the actor (Julian Glover) that plays as General Veers in Star Wars V, and in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade as the main villain Walter Donovan. =P
IIRC the whole of the Night's Watch, at this point, is fewer than a thousand (according to maester aemon) spread across 3 of the castles. Lord Commander Mormont set out with a 300 strong force from Castle Black (although we only ever see a dozen or so of them in the show)

a little more on the Theon "baptism" that is not a spoiler just more information... the "real" Iron Islanders are taken out into the water and drowned. They drag them back onto the beach and wait for the person to either die or cough out the water. Hence the "what is dead may never die" but since Theon is weak, he did not do it the traditional way and just let him pour water over his head. No one was impressed.
I love how deemly hypocrit is renly....... He wanted the throne and Ned's support but ned knew stannis is the rightful king and renly knew that they would kill ned so he flew with loras and now that he sees the northern support through robb he says he'll give them joffrey's head and lannister answer for their crimes!!.
In retrospect Ned should have gone with Renly’s plan to use Renly’s men to capture Cersi and her children before Robert died. Unlike littlefinger, Renly wouldn’t have betrayed Ned. Renly probably wouldn’t even require Ned to bend the knee since Ned considered Stannis to be Robert’s heir. Renly would have let Ned go back to the north (with Sansa and Arya) since Renly would name his own Hand (Mace Tyrel probably). Then Ned would either support whichever Baratheon bro who came out on top or declare the north independence and become King of the North.
@@Durran196- true. But I’m saying what Ned should have done. Not what he would have done. Ned didn’t have enough men of his own to enforce Roberts wishes. So it was either use Renly’s men or bribe the City Watch. He chose poorly.

THANK YOU. A bit late, but...thank you. Nobody else is saying this. The H&L videos look back on the previous season and forward to the one they came with. But that's because they're saying it *before* season 1. It's kinda like starting every season on episode 2 and then watching episode 1 at the end...
