Leather laces would be fantastic to have, must also consider to feature chocolate brown🧡 red❤,black🖤 and your normal green💚 laces on your accessories 🐸
Slight warning for owners of African Buffalo Rangers - If you wanna use beeswax, just be aware that unless you like having them turn a deep dark-reddish chocolatey brown, use the nubuck spray instead. I've posted images on the Jim Green subreddit.
Im not opposed to the darker colors some conditioners can result in but that Houston brown deserves to shine as it is.
Big yes to leather laces
Thank you so much for doing these comparisons
Excellent comparison, n great informative vid 👍
I love the dark beeswax Huston brown on my baobabs. It kinda dresses them up, and I really like it.
Love my Ranges and I'm waiting for my new pair of Baobab's to arrive.
Very nice. I like the options to darken or preserve the color and the ability to provide water resistance if necessary.
I have so many boots this color and have been scared to put beeswax on it. Thank you for sharingto help me decide my cleaning route! Which I think I will be going with the suide cleaning method.
Thanks for the informative video! There's so few resources on how to maintain and care for oiled nubuck leather (I have them on my Birkenstocks). I'll try the dry brush + saddle soap + suede protector route as I like the lighter colour. Thanks again!
I like the leather laces, would love to get a pair for my Baobabs
Thank you for this video. I've been wanting to clean up my Crazy Horse Leather Vellies and wondered what they would look like after a coat of bees wax, or similar. :)
Thank you
jim green is so cool
I use mink oil on my Baobabs and they turn dark like this as well but I love it.
It might be because I'm more used to it but I like that darker look from the wax :P
It is nice to see how the different products affect the different types of leather though, great knowledge to have!
If you want to use the wax for extra protection but think this get too dark you could perhaps go for the fudge leather instead
I've always wanted to try leather laces, it would be cool to include a guide on how short to cut your laces for the various boots you sell, like what size for vellies, what size for razorbacks and for African rangers.
Another interesting and informative video. As it pertains to leather laces, I'm not a fan. Leather laces tend to stretch and often don't want to stay tied. I much prefer flat kevlar laces. The flat laces don't create pressure points under the eyelets, they don't stretch, they don't break, and they stay tied. They're also better when it comes to withstanding the effects of water and they won't dry out and get stiff like leather can.
Thanks for the great feedback! We shall take this into consideration for our leather lace options 💪
Really interesting results! Most info I see online says not to use saddle soap on suede/nubuck leathers. Why do you recommend it?
Great to see the difference in care and how they look from the care. Many boots come with 2 pair of laces. You could put a pair of regular and leather laces in each box. That would give the customer the ability to try and use there preference in laces.
Would love to also see green laces available for purchase.
The leather laces look good, always good to hsve more options. I currently use beeswax on my baobabs for the water resistant qualities but man that suede cleaner looks awesome ss well!
We always recommend a Beeswax clean and condition 💪, thanks for the support and enjoy the journey ahead this week.
I have to wear beeswax due to the work I do. I love the look that the beeswax gives to the Boababs. However, the Shoellies look sophisticated in their natural look. I love Jim Green Fridays 💪🐸
Thanks for the support as always Zach! Enjoy the weeks adventures ahead 💪🐸💪
I'd love to try your beeswax product- do you have any idea when it will be available?
What an interesting comparison! I am still blown away at the awesome craftmanship of the Baobab boot! I typically use beeswax based product on my leather products including my leather shoes and it seems to work really well. I have heard of saddle soap but never seen it in person before. It seems to work really well! Thanks for sharing!
A good Beeswax and conditioning goes a long way for your boots 💪 Thanks for the support and all the best for the week ahead.
@@JimGreenFootwearOfficial Thank you and have a great week as well!😃👌
Go really light on the mink oil like he said a little goes a long 2ay
I think the leather laces look great. Hum, I’m sure my RAZORBACKS would look amazing with them.
We are hoping to get our leather laces rolling out ASAP 💪 We are sure there are going to be some great combinations with the leather lace 🐸🐸

Awesome, sounds great.
I used a beeswax product on my Houston Brown Baobabs that I'm wearing right now. I love the rich dark brown color and the beeswax sheds water nicely. I've not walked thru any deep water with them, but in rain and puddles, they have been watertight. 😃
Glad to hear the Baobabs are doing their job 💪 You can never go wrong with a Beeswax clean 🐸🐸
Could you show how your 🎉 shoes look and what kind of wax you used
So can i use boot oil? I though bees wax was mostly just for waterproofing, while boot oil is better for conditioning (not sure about for the suediness though). I just got the barefoot boots today and already said I'll probably never buy regular shoes again lolol
thanks for an informative video.
is there any chance that you would, on your website, include the EU and nato sizing (length and width in mm)?
Good day, we are working on a new sizing chart that will include EU sizing and will be more accurate.
Before I put leather balm/beeswax on my Shoellies i let them sit out in the sun for about an hour to help 'open up' the pores to help absorb the product.
Looking to get the Baobabs soon and hopefully leather laces!
A resting period after each step does the worlds difference in allowing the leather to soak up all the nutrients from the clean 💪
Didn't expect beeswax to turn the boots nearly black, I'll opt for the suede protector spray myself for the Houston brown. I really love the deep brown color the wax gives the fudge jim greens.
Agree.
Just waiting for my Baobabs to show up....looks like I need to get some suede protector.
We look forward to hearing the journeys ahead with your boots💪💪
Hi. Great video. I requested leather laces for my custom boots a month ago and was told you don't do leather laces ?
Good day! We have looked into leather lace options for our boots and have tested a few sample products, for the time being we are not 100% satisfied with the result as we believe they do not live up to our Jim Green quality. Hopefully in the near future Leather Laces will be available for purchase 💪🐸
Perfect timing! I was just getting ready to clean my baobab boots. Will water stains on the toes come out with the saddle soap? BTW, I love these boots!
With each boots wear and age being unique it is hard to give an exact result however, you should notice a difference once cleaned and conditioned to the water marks you are mentioning. We would recommend a clean as soon as your boots are off from the day where the water was encountered for the best results at eliminating these marks 🐸 Please get in touch should you require any further assistance 💪💪
No leather laces for me. Look great but work poorly.
Hello, i would like to know if the wax that you used is the same as leather balm with wax form your website, i order a pair of baobab and i want to make them more protected from elements. Im wondeing if its necessary to clean them first or i can instantly cover them in wax (brand new pair)
Good day, the product used in video is not the same as our bees wax available however, it is of a similar solution that we have been testing for our new accessories we are aiming to add to the range in 2024 💪🐸. We would recommend following the full cleaning guide, despite the boots being brand new, as the oils and treatment can soften the leather slightly and improve the break in period of the boot 🐸.
I just got a pair of baobabs. Would've prefered to get leather laces.
We are working on releasing our own range of custom Jim Green leather laces. 👀🐸
Once we are satisfied with our results of our in house testing of the leather laces we shall release them for public purchase 💪💪
how did the sizing feel? especially the toebox? Have the rangers and like the generous toe box. I like the Baobabs too
The sizing is great, toe box is the perfect size. Not too wide.@@cwr8618
Just curious: does the beeswax prevent the leather from "breathing"?
No.
Is beeswax enough to moisturize the leather or is more treatment needed for it to stay soft and not crack?
@PluraJohnsson the beexwax is enough to moisturize the leather yes, we offer a leather balm which provides a protective barrier against water and stains. Ideal for outdoor use, this balm keeps leather boots durable and looking new, enhancing their longevity and beauty.
@@JimGreenFootwearOfficial nice
Now I'm really confused again - that squirt-squirt bottle with the suede cleaner. What is that? Its not your suede cleaner aerosol you have on your website. Don't think you mentioned it anywhere.
Good day Johann, thanks for the interest. We are slowly phasing out our current cleaning products to make way for a new and improved range for Jim Green boots. The Suede Protector used in video was a local South African brand 🐸💪
Beeswax
No thanks on leather laces. They hold a knot poorly.
