Hi. Thanks for video. Very practical use of the rope. The rope is so useful in different ways, all for member safety and confidence. The simple overhand knot used to such good effect. Many thanks. :-)

Genuine question: I’m 110 kilos. I am the person that you are looking after in this scenario. I slip on a steep section. Can you do anything to stop me falling/pulling you down with me?

Hello, sorry for my really slow response! That is a good question. Confidence roping should only be used on really quite simple ground, just to give confidence. I think of the example of someone who was fine before they slipped and banged their elbow. The bump has shaken them and they have lost all confidence and they are really concerned that they will slip again. With some people, getting the rope out will give them a mental boost. If I was on ground where I felt at all at risk of slipping then it would not be a suitable technique. I would be able to use it on slightly steeper ground with a lighter person.

    Good video, helpful information.
I do miss North Wales, mountains every weekend, lovely in summer but I was growing webbed feet in winter.

That's a good point. When I finally get time for more videos, that is one I should add to the list.
