I have an opinion on this. I personally simp for him but not because of him being a murderer, it's simply because his character is so well written you know? He's my favorite character. People who simp/like bad fictional characters aren't bad, i personally like a lot of villains but i don't condone their actions in real life. They are not real and fictional.
The problem comes when you simp/s3xual1ze a character that is a kid, two siblings, and stuff like that. There's where the problem is in my opinion.

Same person. Before he had a canon name, Vincent was the name the fandom decided on because "Purple Guy" wasn't exactly a usable name if you're trying to write fanfic, haha.
Though, "Vincent" and the fandom's interpretation of him kind went off the rails and is really nothing like the canon William Afton we eventually got. Which is expected when you wait 5+ years to provide the fans any sort of personality for the character.

To those who insult people that like William a lot: well, first thing first, he wasn't always dead and he is still human with flesh and bones but immortal and second of all, most of you who criticize fnaf simps/fans are simping over characters such as Loki, Joker, Venom, Lucifer, Deanerys or other member of the Targarian family in Game of thrones (no need to lie to yourselves and act like hypocrites, you all have at least one favorite character that you like too much) and other mainstream villains so you have no right to judge others for doing the same.
