For future reference, I am going to explain the naming structure to you so you no longer get confused. In Ethiopia we only have First names, my First name(Given name) is my First name, my Middle name is the first name of my father, and my Last name (Family name/Sir name) is the first name of my Grandfather. Our naming structure can be fully understood by foreigners now. ለስምረት ደግሞ፣ First name(Given name) ከተባለ ያንቺን ስም ማለት ነው፣ Middle name ከተባለ የአባትሽን ስም ማለት ነው፣ Last name (Family name/Sir name) ከተባለ ደሞ የአያትሽን ስም ማለት ነው። In other countries, when two people get married the Wife takes the last name of her husband and officially changes her name however in Ethiopia there is no such thing. The wife keeps her name. I don't know the norm in Japan.
I wonder if it changed depending on the area. I’m also Ethiopian and I wasn’t given a middle name. I just have my dads name as my surname. My uncles also just have their dads name as their surname.
@@Lgisas Nope it does not. And Sorry I don't get what you are saying. What do you mean by "My dads name" which name? his first, middle, last ? i.e most habeshas get confused when going abroad and just skip the middle name all together and use their dad's first name as their last name.
