रूह बेचैन है इक दिल की अज़ीयत क्या है
दिल ही शोला है तो ये सोज़-ए-मोहब्बत क्या है
वो मुझे भूल गई इसकी शिकायत क्या है
रंज तो ये है के रो-रो के भुलाया होगा..
वो कहाँ और कहाँ काहिश-ए-ग़म सोज़िश-ए-जाँ
उस की रंगीन नज़र और नुक़ूश-ए-हिरमा
उस का एहसास-ए-लतीफ़ और शिकस्त-ए-अरमा
तानाज़न एक ज़माना नज़र आया होगा..
झुक गई होगी जवाँ-साल उमंगों की जबीं
मिट गई होगी ललक डूब गया होगा यक़ीं
छा गया होगा धुआँ घूम गई होगी ज़मीं
अपने पहले ही घरोंदे को जो ढाया होगा..
दिल ने ऐसे भी कुछ अफ़साने सुनाये होंगे
अश्क आँखों ने पिये और न बहाये होंगे
बन्द कमरे में जो ख़त मेरे जलाये होंगे
इक-इक हर्फ़ जबीं पर उभर आया होगा..
उस ने घबरा के नज़र लाख बचाई होगी
मिट के इक नक़्श ने सौ शक़्ल दिखाई होगी
मेज़ से जब मेरी तस्वीर हटाई होगी
हर तरफ़ मुझ को तड़पता हुआ पाया होगा..
बेमहल छेड़ पे जज़्बात उबल आये होंगे
ग़म पशेमा तबस्सुम में ढल आये होंगे
नाम पर मेरे जब आँसू निकल आये होंगे
सर न काँधे से सहेली के उठाया होगा..
ज़ुल्फ़ ज़िद कर के किसी ने जो बनाई होगी
रूठे जलवों पे ख़िज़ाँ और भी छाई होगी
बर्क़ आँखों ने कई दिन न गिराई होगी
रंग चेहरे पे कई रोज़ न आया होगा..
होके मजबूर मुझे उस ने भुलाया होगा
ज़हर चुप कर के दवा जान के ख़ाया होगा.

उस की रंगीन नज़र और नुक़ूश-ए-हिरमाँ
उस का एहसास-ए-लतीफ़ और शिकस्त-ए-अरमाँ
तानाज़न एक ज़माना नज़र आया होगा
(क़ाहिश-ए-ग़म = दुःख की कमी), (सोज़िश-ए-जाँ = जान का जलना), (नुक़ूश-ए-हिरमाँ = निराशा के चिन्ह), (एहसास-ए-लतीफ़ = कोमल भावनाएं), (शिकस्त-ए-अरमाँ = अभिलाषाओं का भंग होना), (तानाज़न = व्यंग करता हुआ)

12.10 AM here. and who and what else other than this legend of the music all around. alfaaz aur awaaz dono ek doosre se badhkar. ameen. sochne aur rone pe mazboor kar deta tha yeh insaan ke roop me roohani jadugar
Nothing s more coherent and relevant as this line is " Rooh bachain hai " as one listens to his rendition .This is what the magic of the maestro is . Is it not amazing that while most want to laugh and be happy, there are some like us , who while listening to this from the mastero , feel like crying . Its so theuropatic. With his singing expression, he paints this poetry better than Hussain or Picasso ever did or could with their brush.

He was the master of composing Nazms none of his contemporary Ghazal singers could composed as mellifluous as melodious like him..You take any of his composed Nazm..Right from Baat niklegi, Tum nahi aaye the jab, Bahut dino ki baat hai, Wo kagaz ki kashti..and on and on..

Can't and never ever will get enough of this. It's like talking to yourself which is perhaps the most honest feeling one can have to oneself. The Mastero lives on Will always live on. Eternal. Dare I say who can even attempt to sing this. Well above us all, he is in a better company. He is there where that place deserves him and happy because of his presence there. Lord we are thankful to you that you sent him to us, for us to feel happy and uplifted and feel a little bit more closer to you , just because of his voice and music. Amen.
