      What was your max OC on the strix?

    • @idmooseman
      @idmooseman 7 лет назад +1

      I agree with you. I also see no reason why this graphic card exists. This card could be for those builders with disposable income so high that they "just want" the newest card available.
      Unfortunately, that is not me. I will take a GTX 1080Ti all day, every day, and if it is possible, I prefer two of them, just because.

      So... Why didn't you compare the Titan x Pascal with a founders edition 1080ti ?

    • @ash3sgaming812
      @ash3sgaming812 6 лет назад

      fistsOFfury366 D because he's not that smart, also doesn't specify what his test bench is. That's not very good because as far as I know he's bottlenecking both cards. Those frame rates don't look correct and the reason why is wildlands on the highest settings on my GTX 1080 at 1440p runs at 45-60fps

    Great video as always Kevin! Just and idea maybe put the 1080 Ti against the 980 Ti I know it's not relevant at all but just to show us what kind of upgrade you can get from last gen to current.

    • @TechShowdown
      @TechShowdown  7 лет назад +12

      Might not be possible but it would be a huge win for the 1080Ti, for example the Strix 980Ti does about 123fps in Dirt Rally (1080Ti did 179fps) and 97.5fps in Heaven (1080Ti did 152.8fps) so it would be a great upgrade.

    • @ultimatebikekid
      @ultimatebikekid 7 лет назад +3

      Tech Showdown Yeah I definitely know it'd be a huge win for the 1080 Ti, I was just thinking as a comparison to see how far we came since the last gen Ti. I also use cuda acceleration for rendering and so I never even considered upgrading to the 1080 but now that the 1080 Ti has come out I am planning on upgrading by the end of the year when pricing comes down a bit more.

      I have 980Ti Classifieds in SLI and from what ive seen all over youtube, a single 1080Ti is about the same as 2x 980Ti in SLI which is amazing and I cant wait to get 2 of those bad boys since my 980Ti's arnt quite enough for solid 4K60 Ultra. I dont understand though why this is hardly mentioned, you would think more reviewers would test the difference between the last flagship Ti and the latest Ti?!

    • @ultimatebikekid
      @ultimatebikekid 7 лет назад

      zerocool I agree, it's always nice to see how far the top of the line nvidia gaming GPUs have come from one generation to another. And to show the relevance still of the former top of the line 980 Ti, which I think has been widely shown as a direct competitor with the 1070. But not really ever being compared to the new 1080 Ti.

    To answer your question, it isn't a dedicated gaming GPU. It's a deep learning card. It may still have gaming advertisement because it can be used for gaming, but it's meant for deep learning algorithms more-so. The extra 1GB on the Titan XP is actually a massive boost to that use.
    That said, you should do your homework when that information is literally on the Nvidia's website.

    ii...well,this gpu isn't gonna aim for many people,i guess i'll reccomand it for these who do rendering,modeling,etc that's when titan xp suppose to shine above 1080 ti significantly although i saw no benchmarks so i don't know quite yet,Steve from gamer nexus did a comparision between the vega FE and the titan xp and they were back and forth in these proffesional workloads,i wonder how much does the titan xp beat the 1080 ti in that regard

  • @sadystic1

      I don't follow US pricing that closely but yeah it did seem a bit higher than usual.

    • @sadystic1
      @sadystic1 7 лет назад +1

      I'm guessing you were using newegg for the pricing info? if so you can see who the seller is when you click on the item. the 1000 dollar strix is sold by antonline.com who artificially inflated the price. you can actually click on his name and see other sellers including newegg which will show the actual retail price of the card. yea 1000 is ridiculous when you can get say the aorus 1080 ti for 720. most all aftermarket 1080 ti's perform the same its the thermals and noise that differ

    • @TechShowdown

      Sli is dying my freind. Most games now adays dont support it. And the future holds graphics engines that can utelise mutliple GPU's without SLI.
      I do alot of 3d work and no amount of any cards for 3000 dollars will beat the performance of the Titan V. Ive tired this. 3 way 1080TI, 2 Way titan xp. Nothing comes even close to the performance in rendering and compute power of the Titan V..
      So i suggest you research your shit first before just spewing loads of crap cause you read on the internet that the 1080ti is better than the Titan xp and the V cause its not. Yes OC'ed vs stock it is, but what card is top of the list on 3d mark benchmarks ?? Yes, the titan XP my freind..

    You should consider Unigine's Superposition benchmark! Also, it would be great to have a serious professional benchmark like SPECviewperf 12, when reviewing a semi pro card like Titan. These cards exist for users who are into workstation workloads besides gaming.

    why do a lot of other reviews show the 1080ti outperforming the titan xp?

  • @distortedkid123
    @distortedkid123 6 лет назад

    The Titan Xp is aimed more towards researchers and scientists who use deep learning softwares. I'd imagine they won't care much about cooling and noise as they won't be overclocking the card and use it for games. They would probably care more about the card's lifespan and reliability since these attributes are critical for long term data analysis.

  • @Ervinnd
    @Ervinnd 6 лет назад +1

    No one really over clocks gpu’s it’s pointless. You won’t notice a difference and you’ll burn the card out.

  • @franciscojavieramezcuafern1209
    @franciscojavieramezcuafern1209 6 лет назад

    Put an evga hybrid or custom waterblock to that Titan Xp and overclock it to 2050 or more...You will see more difference in fps, temps, noise.. My Titan XP does 2101 without touch voltage with an evga hybrid kit and shunt mod. Not worth the price for the difference anyways but sometimes that fps increase can make a difference..

    this was a bad comparison, because you didn't even change the fanspeeds for the strix. if you would have given the 1080Ti higher fanspeeds it might be on par with the Titan X or better.

    What about the ASUS strix 1080ti OC to 1708 MHz now!? It is also easy to OC a bit more, it has good cooling for it but I dont think it is worth it, but for fake fps number it could be good lol (about 50-70 MHz more to 1708 MHz) Not sure I would do it for the price of the card tho.

    I think the noise ist not a big problem, because if you in game you wear and headset. And if you not in game the XP will not be very hot, so the XP is quiet.
    The only problem is the Price.
    And I think the only reson why this GPU exsist is that nvidia need a GPU with the GP102 without any locked CUDA Cores.

  • @brianmcelligott6394
    @brianmcelligott6394 6 лет назад

    I believe the Titan Xp was 'officially' released for users in the business of computer learning or virtual neuro network models and the like, according to nvidia, as they frantically rationalized their new card. These use cases would justify paying the premium basically for the additional 256 cuda cores alone, as they depend on cuda count for optimal preformance. HOWEVER, nvidia clearly kept the titan Xp 2017 in the gtx geforce branding, and had "GAMING" literally all over their spec webpage, it wouldn't be a stretch at all to assume nvidia made the new Titan Xp simply to give the Titan line back its "Best of the architecture" title which they themselves took from it with the 1080 ti. Probably some executive at nvidia was like " Oh Damn Vega really wasnt that good!? Well guess we didn't have to make the 1080 ti so amazing it destroyed our own high end line after all...i know lets screw ourselves more relaunch the Titan...X...little p... :D" Lawlz if ur gaming buy the 1080 ti literally the best gpu to come out period. Ty for the review @Tech Showdown. Cheers

    Poor Kiwis/Aussies. Here in the US the 1080 Ti Strix is 749.99 or less if you get it on sale.And c'mon Kevin, your smarter than saying you don't know who the Titan is for. It's aimed at creative professionals and deep learning needs. Even with the GTX branding Nvidia has said numerous times that its not a gaming card. It's for people who have a legitimate need for it's compute performance or just for those with money to blow who want to be able to say they have a Titan Xp GPU.

    • @TechShowdown
      @TechShowdown  7 лет назад +2

      I looked on Newegg and the Strix 1080ti was $999 USD and also don't fall for all of that Nvidia marketing jumbo, it is the same thing with slightly more Cuda cores, TMUs & ROPs.

      I am looking for a new card to replace my aging GTX770, for mostly 3D modelling and rendering, with the occasional gaming. I am currently trying to figure out which card is most suitable as the Titan Xp is priced above the 1080ti/Quadro P4000 and below the P5000.
      Rather than make a comment about not falling for the 'marketing jumbo', as you call it, why don't you do a comparison between the 1080ti and the Titan Xp in 3D modelling/rendering scenarios instead?

      Hell yes!

    • @CrocRock11
      @CrocRock11 7 лет назад

      I would. With the 290x cards getting pretty dated at this point and the lack of good crossfire support on all games, the 1080 Ti would be a great, much more efficient replacement. Even though Vega isn't looking the greatest at the moment (FE performing between 1070 and 1080) the actual gaming cards are coming out at the end of this month and it might be worth waiting to see how they turn out.

    Really if ya look at the 2160p test they were exactly the same in the way of performance only at 1080p was there a cpl pf frames difference and with all the overclocking headroom of the strix it would crush the titan because of thermals ,, i have a asus 1080 strix oc card and in overclock mode it sits at 52 degrees c,,, @ 2100 Mhz... and score about 19,500 on firstrike 1080p ... so yea the strix cards are awesome cards...

    I have seen some people who have bought these cards for gaming, which shows just how stupid some people are. Is it really worth it? Spending $500 for maybe a few fps more? No. On a side note my 1080 Ti has treated me very well.

      Even a good 980TI is going for more than USD$200 ?? .. if you can get working 1080Ti for USD$200 I'll take 50 :-)

    • @Jeebuus
      @Jeebuus 7 лет назад

      Gonna come in here and say my 1080 Ti AMP! Edition runs hot too. I think reviewers like this need to take a leaf from the GamersNexus book and record ambient temps (I didn't see them anywhere). I don't run my ac much to save money, but once I do start my ac the GPU's temps lower by a lot. I suspect this guy's house probably has its a on more often. That's just my guess though.

      Thing is they all bench it on a open test bench, put the card inside a case and it's whole different ball game.

      My 1080ti strix go to about 65-67c 50% fspeed 21c room temp at 2012Mhz.

  • @djgratwanderung
    @djgratwanderung 7 лет назад

    The Titan Xp is only for enthusiasts. If you remove the cooler you can install a water cooling system and then maybe you have better overclocking possibilities (look here in RUclips what "PC Welt" do with the "Höllenmaschine 8"), the Asus Strix is already overclocked and have not so much potential i think. I`m not sure but i mean the Titan Xp is not overclocked?!

      asdasdasd asdasdad awwww are you butthurt, you have a huge lack of knowledge. It only gets hott if you overclock it, which it doesn't need overclock to out perform a 1080ti, plus a easy hybrid cooler install fixes that if I want to OC. I have multiple of both cards so not salty
