My suggestions for improving efficiency of service 1. Maintain cleanness, routine washing. 2. Friendliness with commuters. 3. Ensure Amenities like A/C functioning, bed pillows, seat covers are replaced every day 5.stongly stick up to timings ie departure and destination reach point should be maintained atleast 95 to 98% as stipulated. 6. Unnecessary chatting by conductor or driver while driving. 7, Minimal stoppages should be maintained in order maintain time. 8. Every 5 years upgradation and new buses has to inducted. 9
Metro cities should start 1 to 1 services in order to compete with VANDE BHARAT trains to certain extent. 10. Should halt the buses at good hotels and should have better amenities. The above said post are purely by myself for betterment and smooth efficiency services. Only then SETC could compete with KSRTC orelse total loss to tn transport department.

Your comparison is valid. Obnoxious maintenance. Even Ke.SRTC is now getting revamped with SWIFT and those buses are really good. Even the ordinary express services there seem to be much more comfortable with leg space and those buses seem to be longer to accommodate more passengers (I think 12M/13M chassis)

Naveen Kumar I can understand your disappointment in travelling in this SETC Bus from Shanthi nagar {Bengaluru} to Maduravoyal in chennai which took almost 8hours and 20 minutes. Unga comparison correct anna. KSRTC goes maximum speed upto 110 normal ah 75-80 maintain pannuranga. Pune to Dharwad 415 kms 8 hours la noramal NWKRTC cover pannuranga. Ennodaiya regular route ithu. But TN la intha speed ellam ninaichi koda pakka mudiyathu. But seat is comfortable only in TN buses. KSRTC & MSRTC la back pain varuthu
Private operators like RKK, PMD and others do 2 trips both ways between Chennai and Bangalore. They shuttle between Koyambedu and Madivala in under 6 hours. They also have pickups and drops from Sholinganallur, Thiruvanmiyur, Tambaram at Chennai side and also to KRPuram, Majestic , etc in Bangalore side.
25 years ago SETC was the preferred option. Now it is these private operators, followed by KSRTC and trains.
SETC doesn't seem to put efforts to improve at all.
Cost wise too, SETC is not cheap at all. You get an afternoon trip at RKK for Rs 700 and. Seabird for less than Rs 500

இன்று மாலை நான் பள்ளியில் இருந்து வரும்போது எங்கள் பகுதி வழியாக சேலம் நகர பேருந்து நிலையத்திலிருந்து D. பெருமாபாளையம் (17) பேருந்து பேருந்து நிலையத்திலிருந்து 1 கி.மீ. தாண்டியவுடன் பஞ்சர் ஆகிவிட்டது. எங்கள் பகுதிக்கான அடுத்த அரசுப் பேருந்து 6.20 க்கு தான் வரும். அதனால் நாங்கள் அனைவரும் எங்கள் வீட்டிற்குள்ள மீதமுள்ள 3கி.மீ வரை நடந்தே வந்தோம். 😢 அரசுப் பேருந்துகளை நல்ல முறையில் பராமரிக்க வேண்டும்.
It's a known fact that, SETC service is worst. Once I've traveled from Shenkottai to Chennai by AC semi sleeper. On the way it'd stopped at Tenkasi for 30 mts, like wise entered into all bus stands enroute. Always the conductor was busy in shouting and hawking, calling the people in the bus stands, Chennai, Madurai etc. Very boring, slowest speeds on the NH. I became restless and asked the driver to stop near a suburban railway station to board the train to go to Chennai Egmore. It's started from Shenkottai at 5.30 PM, not reached Chennai even at 9 AM. My request to all, not to travel by SETC.

You are right bro. Recently i have travelled in AC Seater bus from CBE to Salem. Route and timing were ok but the AC was not working at one point and not been resolved. Reached salem without AC in Ac bus.😂
I had the misfortune to travel in this snail from Chennai to blr. Had gone to Chennai to try out Parveen non stop service from blr at 5.30 am. Btw not so hot took 6 hrs nonstop. Wanted AC sleeper on the way back so preferred setc over ksrtc volvo multi, big mistake. Was happy Bus left at 2.45 pm sharp, then pain started. Nothing wrong with the bus pickup was good no strange noises from the engine but the driver never got past 60 kmph. It crawled along nonstop till Vellore where mercifully it stopped for 15 mins. Took full 3.5 hrs to cover 140 odd kms and about 5.5 hrs from Vellore to blr. Finally the misery ended close to midnight. Taking almost 9 hrs to cover less than 350 kms on superfine roads with normal traffic is just not acceptable, mind u this is supposed to be setc's flagship service. Even for a diehard bus fan like me who enjoys bus journeys this was too much to digest. After this I avoid setc day buses as far as possible.
Here I must also mention that I had travelled in a similar mg leera ac seater sleeper from blr to tvm which was quite quick. That bus was certainly not 85 locked and did the trip in just over 15 hrs.

I remember travelling once in Setc bus from Bengaluru to Trichy it took 9 hours to complete 340kms that to without any ghat roads at that time i remembered our legend Ksrtc which takes 7-8 hrs to reach from Bengaluru to Mangaluru crossing shiradi ghat covering 350kms total with enough break as well at good hotels. The reason why ksrtc became top govt bus transportation is due to its staff who takes care of the bus like their own. Even the Ksrtc values it employees more recently they have introduced 1 crore insurance to the staff if they die in accident while driving the bus.

Leyland gives buses at subsidized rates being in TN. Similarly, Karnataka gets buses at less rates from Volvo who holds factory in hoskote.

l would like to share a real experience of mine here.
At a time when we didn't have car we used to go to our native in Kerala from Bangalore via Ernakulam Intercity Express. We did the same for a trip and one more thing was we had a family function to attend at Coimbatore and we were at Thrissur that day. So we had 2 options KSRTC Kerala Ernakulam to Coimbatore and TNSTC Ernakulam to Salem. We decided to take TNSTC(A very wrong decision in my opinion). They both reached Thrissur the same time somehow. Both our TNSTC and KSRTC left Thrissur at the same timings after Passenger pickup since both buses have already started at Ernakulam. TNSTC Bus didn't even reach 50kmph. The driver was new to driving and was so scared to put 5th gear itself. But KSRTC Kerala drove so fast and reached Coimbatore on time. Joke was we actually still didn't reach Coimbatore but that Kerala Bus which left Thrissur with us is returning back to Ernakulam again and we still were crossing Walayar Toll Gate now. So that was my real experience with TNSTC.

I too travelled through TNSTC AC Bus from Chennai to Trichy. It took 7.10hrs to reach. It went inside Villupuram town. Max speed recorded was 72KMPH. The condition of the bus was so bad that the seats were very rough, the poor cleanliness and inside smell was the worst. The suspensions were so bad that for two days I had back pains. The Mobile chargers and the study lights were not at all working. The AC was also not that effective. All in all the experience was very bad and I suggest people not to travel by these buses. Worst maintenance of vehicles.
Same thing happened in the past, Chennai to Bangalore, same timing, to get passengers entered many bus stands, waited ,not so good hotel stopping, average speed. Less the amount more the time, SETC should be at par with KSRTC maintain less travel timings,more comfort, little more money doesn't matter.
Eliminate corruption, rest everything will be alright.
