    There are several techniques to pay down on credit card debt. One technique I used was to pay the minimum and match the interest for that month's payment. For example minimum payment $100, $85 goes to principal, $15 to interest. Add $15 more for a payment of $115. Next month, that interest will be lower, because the $15 extra, went to the principal. It's a small chunk, but eventually that dent will be bigger.

    That's a lot of money to pay off in such a short time but her tips are more realistic then some of the other ones i've heard over the years

    Where I live I don’t know who can find a place for 35% of income. Would be nice but it’s just too expensive here and a lot of places. Maybe if you had a bunch of roommates but otherwise there’s no way. Or maaaaybe if you rent a really old studio apartment.

      You know a lot of people who live where their incomes don’t belong then 🤷🏻‍♀️ if you want to live some where, you have to make the income for it. If you only have a limited income, you have to live in the place you can afford.

      @@R.M.3.14 but that’s like anywhere around me so I don’t know how they would get people to work at places like fast food and stores if nobody could afford to live anywhere in the area. And I doubt someone is going to drive two hours to work at a fast food restaurant.

    This is not realistic or helpful!! .... “Pay more than the minimum payment to credit cards”..... like, obviously you need to do that but the problem is most of us can’t. ..... “pay less on housing and transportation” ..... obviously that would be great but some people don’t have the ability to make those drastic changes.

      Ivy Nida please check out Dave Ramsey, google him. GMA has no idea what they are talking about... under “others” she contradicted herself by saying necessities and wants in the same sentence..

      Then you shouldn’t have taken out the debt in the first place or lived in the place you can’t afford. No body feels sorry for you for making your own stupid decisions.

    This is absolutely useless. Who the hell doesn't know that you need to make more than the minimum payment on a credit card to see a dent in the balance? wtf? Telling people to pay less for housing? How much does this single mom make? I see her rent was $850. Well good for you. You wont find
    rent like that where I live. This is all good if you are making enough money, but truth is most people are not. By the way, is she receiving child support to help with her expences? GMA come on give real people real information.

      Some people live beyond their means. In the event that this woman is receiving child support (which her child is entitled to) I’m sure it is not enough to live off of or even get her out of financial debt. And it’s best to not even use credit cards, if you don’t have cash to pay for it then you can’t afford it.

    • @R.M.3.14
      @R.M.3.14 2 года назад

      No way anyone is getting $80k in child support in 8 months unless her ex is a multimillionaire/billionaire.
      And it’s not useless. There are more people in debt than out of debt in the US-so obviously even though ‘everyone’ knows to pay more than minimum or etc, there are plenty that don’t do it. If you were as financially literal as you’re trying oh so hard to portray, you wouldn’t be whining about expenses vs income-you would know if you can’t afford where you live you need to move.
