Haven’t opened Pokémon cards since I was a kid in 1999. Somehow started watching this channel recently and you’ve totally reignited the fire in me to start collecting again.

Chilling Reign is underrated, the Blaziken, the birds and gold Snorlax are awesome

I just love silver tempest. It got so many beautiful cards. All of them have a nice value and PRETTY additions to the collection.
Chilling Reign & Evolving Skies are my favourite sets. I think fusion strike would be up there if the pulls where a little bit better!
Evolving skies is obv the top pick for these sets overall, but so far I think Crown Zenith has been my absolute favorite to open!

hoesntly same here, i had opened my first etb in my life and it was crown zenith. And i’m glad it was. I got two 2 secret rares. hoesntly opening a set you had never opened gives you the best luck. Nice to see someone agrees :D

The Pull rates for evolving skies are a bit rough for me but definitely one of my favorites to open
Really? The pulls are crazy for me but I stopped opening them because they basically doubled in price and its way to expensive for me.
Just started getting back into this after 20+ years I like fusion strike. I bought the etb and got the alt mew. Was a nice reintroduction to my childhood card game.
Evolving Skies and Brilliant Stars are my top 2 as well!! I love how much variety they both have.

Evolving Skies is definitely one of my top favorites from the era. I opened one of the Japanese sets for it and managed to pull the Rayquaza V alt art from it. It went straight into a top loader the moment I pulled it. Silver Tempest is also up there since I pulled the Rayquaza Vmax gold card from it at the start of the year
I somehow pulled the lugia v first try
I got the Lugia from silver tempest in a random singular pack!

The trainer gallery really made the end of the sword and shield era insane. I think I agree with your line up!

Evo skies is definitely my favorite too. So many beautiful alternate artworks and the set literally feature Rayquaza, Dragonite, and the eeveelutions

I really think Fusion Strike is a pretty solid set as well. It’s got quite a few awesome looking alt arts, but not as many people tend to not go for it.

I got the espeon vmax out of a $20 box with only 2 fusion packs. I think it's gonna be worth 2× within the next year

Those pulls are crazy! My top five sets would be silver tempest, fusion strikes, brilliant stars, astral radiance and evolving skies.
For me all of these sets are absolute fire, but i think Fusion Strike should get some love too!

Watched this and then picked up a Crown Zenith booster. First booster I ever bought and first time buying cards since I was a kid. So much fun opening it, saving some to open later on but over halfway through the box got something cool in every pack!

I will always have a soft spot in my heart for astral…. That was the set that got me back into collecting and I pulled the alt art machamp on my first booster box

Evolving skies is awesome as well but the pull rate can be tough. Price is blowing up as well. Get them while you can if you wanna chase that Moonbreon. Probably cheaper now buying the card lol... Not the same as actually pulling it yourself. Cant beat that feeling! Love the content man. keep it up.
I pulled the Umbreon a year ago it was my greatest pull ever and I so regret selling it
I found myself collecting again thanks to this era and channels like yours! The Lugia alt art from Silver Tempest caught my attention because it was my favorite legendary Pokémon back in the day. Due to that fact, I will have to say Silver Tempest. It was my first booster box ever and I’m now the proud owner of 2 Lugia alt arts!

@@b-games5582 as a kid my mom could barely afford the booster packs she bought me let alone the whole box. As an adult with my own money to spend, it’s been cool to live out my childhood dreams of opening packs! If there’s ever a set you really like and you have the money, get one!!

Crown Zenith and Evolving skies are sets where the prices reflect the worth. The arts are nice and the hits are plenty. Hope to get that booster box
Just getting back into collecting after a 15 year hiatus! Starting with Silver Tempest, I’m trying to pull that alt art Lugia 🤟
Crazy pulls and trying for finish the binder for crown zenith love the content and keeps on motivating me trying to finish the whole set even tho i tell myself that i won't be able to love the vids
i came back to the hobby of collecting pokemon cards again during this crazy era. i just loved the alt arts and trainer galleries. im really looking forward for scarlet and violet that is coming up. hope you all get great pulls!

@@JingYiYuan alt art palkia v is cool. my favorite alt art in this era was probably the raquaza v alt art in evolving skies.
I'd agree with Evolving Skies as my top with Crown Zenith as close second! I love the alt arts in ES, pull rates are so sad though lol. I feel like the reprint has been even more tough to get pulls in my experience too. Crown Zenith has been super fun to open up recently with the fantastic art and great pull rates with the gallery cards! ES would be next level if they had introduced gallery cards at that point lol
Crown Zenith was the first set I opened since I was a kid, pulled a VSTAR mewtwo on my 2nd pack. Now I'm addicted.

I’m so glad ex cards are coming back! Man, sword and shield sets had the most beautiful artwork in my opinion, especially the gallery cards.
I'd say your choices are good. I'd probably do the same. Evolving Skies is immediately my favorite set. It's really hard not to choose that. Haha The next era could be our most insane era of artwork and pokemon. I can't wait!!!

Sword and shield was the generation I got back into Pokémon with and it’s super cool to look back on all these sets! I remember seeing all these sets teased and leaked and being so excited to get the beautiful artworks they made. Love the vid!
Your top 5 list is pretty solid! I'd probably have brilliant stars in the #4 position personally, but evolving skies is defiantly the #1 set!

It was surprising to see that Crown Zenith was not your top 2 picks. The pull rates are insane and the amount of really good art cards is insane

I was lucky enough to pull the alt art lugia pretty early after st came out. It's sitting in a case till I can send it to be graded.
My son pulled a lugia alt art card his was super excited and I thank you because he has watching you for a while now and he says that’s how he got back in Pokémon so keep it up rev😊
I agree with your top 5 (even 7) sets, but I’d rank them differently:
5. Brilliant Stars (if no zard, it would be a meh set)
4. Silver Tempest
3. Lost Origin
2. Evolving Skies
1. Crown Zenith (as you can see how fun it is to open with the increased pull rates)

My favorite from the sword and shield area is crown zenith.
I can not fully say what set I like best from sword and shield. I've pulled then Alt Art Dragonite V from Evolving Skies was so excited about it. Great video Rev!

I pulled the leafion vmax
When I saw crown zenith was 3rd I was pretty confident evolving skies would be first. It’s the only set I’ve got so far in a sealed ETB. Still tempted to open it day to day. First pack I bought when I got back into collecting, eeveelutions are just too good.

My favorite set out of all seven of those was definitely crown zenith because of the pull rates!
Honestly, I love Evolving Skies, and everytime I see it in stores, I don't hesitate to grab myself some sleeves. But buying it online is so hard because it is much higher than MSRP currently, and the only way to get it for me right now is buying single boosters off Stop N Shop shelves, or praying to the Pokemon Gods that any of my local card shops have ANY in stock. (Which is never the case). I am always on the hunt for that moon-breon VMAX and I pray the day comes that I pull it!
i relate to this comment so much! i am always on the hunt for evolving skies at my local stores. i am still hoping to find the etb’s as well. but i love the set because eevee evolutions are my favorite. i hope one day to collect all the eevee evolutions from this set!
Solid video. Top five sets from this era are 5. Silver tempest 4. Celebrations 3 crown zenith 2. Brilliant stars 1. Evolving skies. Overall this was a pretty solid generation for cards. I think the first year was pretty rough but they finished out the generation with solid set after solid set.
My top 5 (personal opinion)
1. Battle Styles
2. Evolving Skies
3. Shining Fates
4. Astral radiance
5. Chilling Reign
Evolving Skies is by far the best set no doubt! I would love to open up one of those booster boxes🤪
Evolving skies may have the second to worst pull rate out of all these sets, but it definitely has the best alternative arts
I have pulled the umbreon vmax reaching for the moon and the rayquaza vmax in my first 25 packs it is sooo easy to pull a banger!

I just found my Pokémon card collection from when I was a kid. I have a bunch of first edition cards in there. I'm excited to see what they are valued at and now I've been reinspire to collect a little here in there again. Thanks for the dope videos. They are super exciting.

I think I'd replace Lost Origin with Celebrations, but otherwise I agree with this list. I don't think anything can topple Evolving Skies as the top set.
Top 5 is tough there are alotta good sets once the alt arts came out. Comparing really depends on how you view the pull rates because those trainer galleries really affect them. For me, bottom to top:
Chilling Reign
Brilliant Stars
Silver Tempest
Crown Zenith
Evolving Skies

Out of ur top 5 I love the silver tempest it’s just an amazing set to open, it never gets old. I love evolving skies but I’m not lucky with that set😭

The sword and shield era had amazing sets in it and this video made me sad that we are moving on but excited for scarlet and violet to come out!

Personally Astral Radiance has always been a part of me since it’s when I started collecting again. That would probably be my #1 set. Keep up the great content, Rev.
Such an underrated set! The first 2 packs I opened I got full art Irida so it will always have a special place in my heart for that.

Chilling Reign, Brilliant Stars, Evolving Skies, Fusion Strike, and Crown Zenith are some of my favorites. Another one is Lost Origin even though it ain’t my favorite favorite.

Definitely a solid line up of choices! I barely got back into collecting after evolving skies came out so that one is special to me. But once the trainer gallery cards were introduced that really drew me in. I'm a sucker for great art and I appreciate that it's much more accessible for people to get some nicer cards without the alt art price tag.

Crown Zenith just does every single thing right! Those SAR cards aka Galarian Gallery are just so clean! The trainer gallery changed the game big time and I’m so happy they’re just expanding on that going forward in Scarlet and Violet!!
