Half of me wants to share this and spread the word about Dax...the other half wants to leave it for people who put in the effort to seek out great music to find.
Every time I hear Dax do solo work I can always hear chatter in the background like the audience is not listening to him and it pisses me off to no extent! This man has been through hell and back and has a beautiful, strong clear voice that is not being appreciated. These fools don't realize they are hearing a New Orleans legend. Fools.
I'm not sure about other shows but this was at a tiny club/bar that held 250-300 people max. I'm sure there were people who came to see them play, but there were also people who just came to drink at the bar and hang with friends, which is why there is so much background chatter.
I notice people in Ohio don't know how to shut their mouths during shows. I'm from Ohio, but have much respect for his southern/southwestern fans who know how to listen at a Dax show. Props!
A music legend in general. I have turned so many people (especially now-exes) onto his art. And different people have different etiquette when it comes to hearing performers live.. you have the people who just showed up for social reasons, people who appreciate his work, and musicians who appreciate his work.
For everyone who thinks post AB sucks I will say this: If you think shit post AB sucks you never got what it was all about in the first place....sorry, you just don't get it and you never did. I've only become more of a hardcore death metal fan since Acid Bath got me into metal in the first place, and Im still devoted to what he does now. Despite the fact that I HAVENT grown out of brutal metal. Because its fucking completely transcendent. While the musical style has changed, content wise its basically always been identical, with just even higher levels of maturity and thought behind it. There's something far more haunting about singing about horribly dark material in a beautiful way than just yelling it...imo, that's what he's all about...juxtaposition and dichotomy combination...
I absolutely agree. That's the origin of dark material as far as I'm concerned.. the blues. And he has mastered it. I love metal, from AB, to COB, Hypocrisy, Kreator, Iron Maiden, on.. but he's really set himself aside now with his own sound absolutely. His screams are definitely unique. But his vocal fluctuation whether it be in Bath, Elephant, his self named band, etc.. is just really his own. You hear a Riggs song at his actual clean and emotional vocal points, and you definitely know who it is.
i was at this show. it was when my band, Hate Theory, was playing 5 or 6 shows with agent of oblivion. i was front and center. thanks to whoever put this up here.

I love how underrated Dax and his works are.. it makes it that much more amazing the interactions you have with people who know him, and hearing his music. It was fantastic hearing my tattoo artist talking about how great he (Dax) was to meet in person when asking him who the coolest person he ever met was, without having to talk about Riggs prior.
Totally agree with the original comment and with followmetotheriot. I've seen Dax (Agents of Oblivion and Deadboy and the Elephantmen) in New Orleans, Lafayette and a few other little out of the way places throughout Louisiana, and they were phenomenal. The voice that comes out of this man is out of this world. I've felt he was disrespected so much by the patrons of the various places he played.
A truly great talent been going to ACID BATH shows since they started by far my favorite home town band no matter if it is acid bath, dead boy and the elephant men, or agents of oblivian he always keeps me listening keep up da good work Rodney Westwego,La.
Stating that he's "criminally underrated" is not a bad thing, it's me giving him props...I'm going by my own definition of "Underrated" as someone of great talent who isn't well known, which fits his description perfectly, whether you're sick of hearing it or not. Based on his talent he could probably be a huge star, but like you said, he doesn't seem to care much about fame or fortune which is admirable really.
Why sell your soul to the devil for fortune and fame when..you can be yourself and entertain in your own realm.. Much respect to Dax for this.. Fuck Sammy the Santinist! He didn't like doing Dax music.
If there is one singer that can come close to replacing Layne in AIC I think Dax would be a perfect fit, instead of that guy they have singing for them now. Actually I don't think current AIC should even exist. The band died when Layne died. (ok let me have it)
(ok let me have it), No, I agree. also, Dax kicks ass! fortunately I saw acid bath in '96 and got to hang out with them all night at my friends house. my friend was in a band that opened for them.
I also saw AIC in '89 with Ozzy and Layne came out in a wheel chair because he injured his leg and still performed the show. side note, right before this concert I saw Skid Row at a side stage.
As great as an idea as it is.. I love what Dax does on his own and done in previous projects. As great as a square peg may seem in concept in a triangle slot, he is what he is and excels at it. And AIC just isn't his style.. though I love both. They should be separate
"Criminally underrated musician and singer....." ,nothings ever been soooo true! dax has mastered musical & lyrical integrity!!!! for decades!! ... cmon people....! pull your heads outta american idol's Ass and listen!! kinna like surfing, might change ya life...! :p keep going the deed, again dax! the new album is masterful
i was there dax was cool and we all got them high as fuck chuck woke up and said he thought he was in florida and couldnt figure out how there was snow
I’d absolutely love for him to come out with a cover album. Hearing him sing “Creep” by Radiohead and “Lazarus” by David Bowie would make my whole life complete. Keep it up Dax! Much love from Minnesota 🖤
The oldest known existing recording is by Appalachian artists Clarence "Tom" Ashley and Gwen Foster, who recorded it for Vocalion Records in 1934. n late 1961, Bob Dylan recorded the song for his eponymous debut album, released in March 1962. That release had no songwriting credit, but the liner notes indicate that Dylan learned this version of the song from Dave Van Ronk.
And where would you like me to go? Somewhere where free thought and opinion is censored because i do not agree with you? Or because my ideology does not parallel the majority of comments where this was posted? As eluded to in the post, i think Dax has been blessed with a voice that most heavy-leaning performers don't have. Its a shame that he can't revisit his roots, whether with AB, or with some other band, and put a little steam back into the sludge stride that has been deprived of talent since his departure. I have everything Dax has put out, and will continue to buy his CDs to see what he's up to (that's right...................i do not believe in downloading music). Thank you for your comment, i often wonder if anybody really reads this stuff. .....................................................................................................................Courtice.
Change in neccessary, in order for one to "punch through" one would have to be open minded and change, whether naturally or consciously.....Such is life......
Many people, at their best are hypocrites. And it appears that the fanbase of no genre of music is exempt from ignorance, bigotry, and a complete lack of respect for the opinions of others or their taste in music. People like Scott here, really disappoint me. As a metal fan I've always taken shit over being a metal fan. In a country where I can't seem to get away from rap and country...... you'd think Scott would understand that other people have different tastes in music and not be such complete douchebag but we've come full circle to my opening statement that most people at their best are hypocrites.
I was at this show....we partied like rockstars....i almost got in a fight with the bouncer. got kicked out then got the bouncer either fired or sent home lol.
i agree with everyone, people in the bar, shut the hell up lol. dax rules, saw them as a.b. in ridgeland, s.c. in a tiny dive bar, religious experience

You know.............you’re right! The older I become the more I realize that someone who lives in the past is dull and dry! There are things that hard to let go; but I'm learning you don’t have to, you can keep what is near to your heart without closing your heart and you don't have to bankrupt your soul for a cause that will cost you your soul. Change is indeed needful and is not exclusive of experience as you write. I can say that if I had embraced change instead of turning from it then maybe I too could have “Punched Thru” in earlier life. The fact remains that I once knew a very youthful boy who made life decisions that a now much older man regrets. Speaking of regret, Dax was at the Firebird in Saint Louis two months ago and I only live two hours away and didn’t make it!
welllllll i used to agree with you, but search dax enough and currently you will see that he is getting some great publicity. beer nutz even showd up on a couple dealz. just saying...dude is paid. more than me, or you, or combined.
It's only because if it's not being blasted on the airwaves 20 times a day, then it's not worth listening to. Nobody seems to be able to think for themselves anymore. They have to follow the herd like mind controlled sheep. It's not cool unless everyone else likes it. Too many people just don't give it a chance. They hear something different than what's on the radios and TVs then disregard it completely. Though, if he was more well known, every douche bag would lessen the quality of his music.
I was wondering what the hell ffdp meant and then I found out. What's the point of even comparing? I can just imagine how bad there cover is, actually I probably can't.
Mr. Riggs is full of himself. I really don't care for anything he's put out since he ditched AB; everything he's done since then sounds like everything else. After an album with Oblivion, two with the Elephantmen, and a handful of solo stuff, I give up! His prodigium isn't punching through in this Metallicana-type genra (dark Americana I think I've heard it called, i.e., reference Invisible Oranges?); that, in part, is why he remains underrated as Adam eludes too. Listen to track 13 on AB's first album, and then tell me you don't agree.................and no, the Ivan Moody cover is better; why? cause Dax's cover sounds like everything else he's doing....................................
You know the more I read this the more disgusted I get it you guys you are more close-minded than any of the people that you talked about being brainwashed by the shit on the radio you won't let anyone else have an opinion that differs from yours so you can all go fucking die.
