I think Minangkabau is one of the oldest and most advanced civilizations in the pre-colonial era. If you have been there and visited the palace buildings of past sultans, you will be surprised at the palace decorated with full gold decorations. I knew that this region was conquered by successive European empires, and unfortunately some of the evidence of its historical glory is difficult to dig up, but reflecting on the unique clothes and headdresses full of gold ornaments, it is impossible that this region was once poor and backward. There is much that cannot be revealed about the glorious past of this ethnic group because the ancient manuscripts from when they were a colony have been confiscated somewhere now. Likewise the glory of the Javanese, Sundanese kingdom etc., because how can a civilization that is said to only be farming, fishermen be able to have the largest Buddhist temple in the world like Borobudur and the 6th largest Hindu temple in the world if that civilization is considered backward. That we knew, the origins of Buddhism and Hinduism are said by world history to have come from India and Nepal. But why are there so many of the biggest temples and inscriptions of past glories in Indonesia??
