    It would be so cool if you could train him for reining and see what he can do. He seems to have a ton of try, really wants to please you, is athletic and learns fast. It is always so interesting to watch someone train a mustang and see how he matches up to pedigree horses bred for many generations for a specific task. It is horses like Raven that make your skill as a trainer really shine. Raven is a nice looking Spanish type horse, he has a different type of charisma than your other, very pretty reining horses. He is so much fun to watch, it is his videos that I watch start to finish and never want to miss. I hope we see more of him, he is a star :)

    Hi again MATT
    Yes Sir it's all in there! Tickled my long winded comments to you are coming true as we can see it with our eyes. The mustangs have a different kind of smarts/thinking ability power and strength all built in from their heritage and survival challenges. Wisdom in those eyes...
    With you doing all the right things with him I know with no doubt you will have a terrific most special horse and friend ever.
    Proof positive that money doesn't always buy the best.
    Knowing them just give him enough then time to think/ digest what he needs to learn from each lesson. Promise Matt he won't forget just like what you saw today.
    Soo happy to see you two together again. Warms my heart pressing on with continued respect and awe of you also as a terrific trainer and competitor that the gifts of you both will make something very special happen. Enjoy every moment of this unique experience not forgetting to look him in the eye and talk to him too. It can be something magical like you've never known. All that for $175!!
    Catcha next time

    I love Raven! It's always nice to see how far he's come. Your giggle at 5:18 made me laugh. I love how minimally you use your hands when you ride - you're an inspiration for riders of all disciplines to use one's seat more. Also can I just say how insanely jelly I am of your arena? Tis the season for indoor arena riding here in NY. Very grateful for the space in bad weather but it's small. Can my 17hh Appendix mare and I just teleport over for a hack in the arena? We'll stay out of everyone's way; no one will even know we're there, haha.

    I have been patiently watching for our boy Raven. Matt he looks so handsome. He moves really smooth. I keep watching his face and head, and I know I mentioned this before but you need to do a DNA on him. He looks like he has Spanish blood in him. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Mustangs are smart and they are loyal once you earn their trust. So glad I got to see him today my friend🍀🇺🇸

    I've seen one guy doing some mild cutting on a mustang, but I'd love to see someone fully train one for cutting. With one with the right conformation, mustang agility, and endurance I'd imagine there are several around the holding facilities that could really accel in cutting. Same with roping. Some herds are heavily mixed with QH DNA as well as Thoroughbred DNA. Mustangs range from endurance all the way down to some serious athletes. It's all about finding the one that fits your purpose.

    Sometimes I think that my FriesianX would love reining. She is mostly Friesian with a splash of QH for good measure. She is shaped a bit like this mustang and is seriously athletic. She jumped over 5 ground poles set up at trotting distance at one time as a weanling just freestyle. She also likes to get angry at cows. (Total mare ‘tude)😂 wish I had the money to send her to you to develop the first Friesian reining horse. Totally develop a new division.

    Mustangs almost never buck. when you round pen them you should keep them going until when you let them stop and they face you and take a step towards you. once they do that you can do pretty much anything with them. they are needy for safety and companionship.I spent 8 hours a day for six months with them and that worked good for me. they are surefooted in the mountains and you can pack on them and they are loyal.

  • @dng267
    @dng267 Год назад

    Just think about it.....for the sake of "looks" he shaves the whiskers a horse grows by nature (does anyone do that to their dogs or cats?). I've also seen fools cut the feather off for the same reason of looks. I am no pro like this guy, yet I do my bit of taming out there and caring for my own.....so you can be sure I would never let this guy do anything with my horses. It's a matter of principles and priorities.
