EPIC: Nkrumie Shatters 100m Record, Becomes First Jamaican Schoolboy to Go Sub-10

- Bouwahjgie Nkrumie, a rising star from Kingston College, shattered the national and Champs Class 1 boys' 100-meter record on Wednesday night, running an astonishing 9.99 seconds at the Jamaican High School Championships.
The previous record of 10.12 seconds, set in 2019 by Zharnel Hughes, has been obliterated by Nkrumie's impressive performance, making him the first high school athlete in Jamaica to break the 10-second barrier.
Nkrumie expressed his excitement at achieving this milestone, stating, "I am happy to achieve this time, and I promise more." Despite his record-breaking performance, the young sprinter admitted he wasn't entirely pleased with his execution, vowing to improve in the future.
"I promise I will get it," Nkrumie said, determined to refine his technique and continue breaking records.

Jamaica dominated track and field at the last three Olympic Games with Usain Bolt, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Elaine Thompson, Omar McLeod. Bolt won 100m and 200m gold medals in Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016 while Thompson won the Rio 2016 sprint double.
Fraser-Pryce won the 100m in Beijing 2008 and London 2012 while McLeod 110m hurdles victory came in Rio 2016. In Tokyo 2020, Jamaica will be looking to Asafa Powell, along with new kids on the block Briana Williams, Kevona Davis, Ashanti Moore, Akeem Bloomfield, Kiara Grant, Yohan Blake, Danielle Williams, Janeek Brown and many more.

As a die hard RABALAC LION for life, I’m so proud of Dr Speed and his accomplishments so far with many more to come, this kid heart dedication and drive is off the chain, I knew he was going dip sup 10secs ever since that African kid beat him in the youth championships and was showboating on him(which nothing is wrong with that) that motivated him so much I think to come back strong and get that kid one day, he’s gonna be something to be reckoned with🇯🇲

Still might get destroyed. Daley is running it and dare I say, when he hit his top speed he was going even faster than Nkrumie in that race. Give him another 100m and a fire may spark on that track.

Nkrumie's execution was off, and he kept gazing in the stands which contributed to him not running much faster. Nonetheless, we're still proud of him and Jamaica's track future

I genuinely think Daley has the fastest top end, as of the 3 clashes he and Nkrumi have had it's always Daley covering the most ground toward the latter stages of the race, which is impressive considering he started his season in an accident.

IThink some people leave out, the fresh fruits, coconut water, the different kinds porridge,sugarcane and last but not least children in the the rural areas are taught, to run to school, corner shops, run nextdoor to borrow some ingredients that your mom run out of 😂also just being outside all year long in the clean fresh air contributes to developing an athlete speed and body structure and that is my opinion of why Jamaicans athletes are so fast and healthy looking.🇯🇲🤔🤔
