Thanks mate. I was thinking a Nelson hopped version of the Pilsner you recently made, would work well. Might have a think about maybe doing one myself at some stage. Cheers 🍻
I could just enjoy a glass of that Dino. I loved the colour and appearance. It sounded a nice mix of flavours and i love the Nelson hop although I haven’t used it on its own but have combined it with other hops. Pleased the weather picked up there. We going the other way now so I will probably brew some more winter type beers. Cheers mate👍
Thanks David. Nelson is a lovely hop on it's own. I need to do another one, but a Nelson hopped Pilsner or lager is a great match. I'll enjoy seeing what beers you brew up heading towards the cooler months. Cheers mate 🍻
I'm just fermenting an xpa at the moment. Interesting comments on adding light crystal , that's my go to as well . I think sometimes, especially in our early brewing days we tended to throw in a lot of different malt and hops and crowd the subtle flavours each brings to the table. And as you rightly say, it changes in the keg. Arr, the Wonderful world of beer LoL 😅. Cheers mate 😎👍
I totally agree mate. I think erring on the side of caution or restraint can definitely be the way to go with the malts. I look forward to seeing how your XPA turns out. Cheers mate 🍻
Nice one. Made me thirsty! I brewed a Nelson pale ale not too long ago. Simple recipe like yours. Mine had a touch of Victory malt for some flavor depth. The hops shined & played against the malts nicely. Tasting video coming. Fantastic hop on its own. I look forward to seeing how Nelson plays with other hops too. Cheers mate!🍺🍻
Thanks Skid. Your PA sounds really good. I've heard of Victory malt, but I've never used it myself. I'll have to see whether I can get my hands on some. Motueka is a popular choice in NZ to pair Nelson with, but it'll pair with lots of hops I imagine. I'll keep an eye out for your tasting video. Cheers mate 🍻
Great result, mate. I’ll have to try steeping some light crystal and adding it to one of my kit brews. We had a dry, mild winter and it looks like we could be in for a hot dry summer. Cheers!
Thanks. That would be a good addition. I used 100gms / 5% for my 8L batch. I hear you on the hot dry Summer. Temperatures are already well above average for this time of year. Cheers
Yep sometimes the simple recipes are the best. Your brewing processes of late hopping and half batches are quite unique to you, I can see the logic, getting more flavour from the hops and recipe/experiment turnover, you have got me thinking! cheers
Thanks mate. I really enjoy the variety that the smaller batches give me the opportunity to do. And I'm definitely a convert to doing pretty much all post boil hop additions. Cheers 🍻
Great looking Brew.....I love the colour which ive found hard to adjust for.... So at 5% light crystal you can still pick up the malt Dino.....cheers Brett
Thanks mate. I looked at an old video where I used medium crystal in a pale with roughly the same % and it was amazing how much darker it was. Yeah the American ale and combo of the light crystal gives just enough malt flavour and hint of sweetness for my personal tastes. Cheers 🍻
Sounds a really tasty beer.
Thanks mate. Really pleased I decided on the lighter crystal. Cheers 🍻
Lovely looking beer that. Cheers! 🍻

Nice looking beer Dean, I'm about to brew a pale ale this weekend. Cheers.
Thanks Roy. Enjoy brewing up your pale ale. What hops are you going with? Cheers 🍻
Haven't decided yet Dean, I've got a lot to use up@@tubedinoz
Nice thanks for sharing mate.
Thanks mate. Went down a treat sitting outside. Cheers 🍻

@@tubedinoz Thanks for the hop tip.👍 Victory is similar to Biscuit...they're kind of one in the same, with subtle differences.
@@Skid-BaxterThanks. That is good to know. I had a quick look at my local hbs and it looks like they don't stock Victory. Cheers

Looks like a success, simple is sometimes better, that Nelson Sauvin is up there with the big guns.
Thanks mate. Totally agree about keeping things simple. Good to see some sun. Hope the weather is good down your way. Cheers 🍻
Nice looking and sounding beer indeed cheers 🍻👍
Thanks mate. It's going down nicely! Cheers 🍻
Sounds good Deano
Thanks mate. Finally some decent weather to enjoy a beer outside! 🍻
Great looking beer , I need to brew something like that . Cheers
Thanks friend. This year's harvest of Nelson is tasting great. Cheers 🍻
