Braleven There's no way that Era could've lasted. MCs started coming with writtens to freestyle battles. Some were really smooth about sneaking the writtens in too. It wasn't fair when actual freestylers were losing to people sneaking writtens in. Eventually people just said fuck it were all going to agree the whole battle is going to be writtens now. But make no mistake, there's a lot of MCs that battle nowadays that still have insane freestyle game and use it for rebuttals or when they forget their shit. Thesaurus from scribble jam still battles. Charron is one of the best in canada imo and basically freestyle'd his whole 3rd round for the KOTD title agaisnt Pat Stay. I miss this freestyle era too tho... I practice freestyles almost every day but it's super difficult to find an actual freestyle battle nowadays.
the problem is people can't freestyle anymore... people are too lazy to sharpen up on their skills... and these MCs.. know it... I respect rawness and pure.. battle rap.. based on right then and there...

He will do something like in blaze battle against RK Eyedea sees brown shoes and red pants. He turns that into two rhymes. Some people dont deliever good punch lines every other verse, but he could. Then he delivers the best improv of all time when RK tries to throw him off by dancing .
Eyedea couldve been twice this drunk on Blaze Battle and still won them EZ. Congrats MURS for standing ground in a battle vs Eyedea. Might be the only one to beat or come close other than Eyedea's apprentice and living legacy Kristoff Krane
