    Really good video!
I would prefer some verbal explanation of what’s going on, but I also really like the silent version too because you explain so well.
    Thank you

Thanks for sharing, i'm really looking to start making knifes, but I live in a small appartment so no forge for me until i get a garage ! Your videos might help me achieve a first folding knife one day (hopefully sooner than later).

Starting out I would buy a 12" section pf O-1 steel on line. You don't need a forge. I started out with Grizzly 2 x 2" grinder which I still use. If you follow the tutorial you can make a nice knife. I use that same process for every lockback folder I've made. Even the pearl handled knife in my latest video...Thanks for your comments.

@DOCPaulBuildsIT Thanks a lot :) I am learning all I can about all the ways there is to make a knife. Apparently most american youtubers are really equipped with everything in existence and tend to push these for beginners!
I'll look for availability for a Grizzly or something close in France. I'll buy 0-1 steel first as you recommand.
Last question before using more of your time : If i'm patient, can I make a knife with only files and maybe a band saw or hacksaw to approximatively cut the parts firt on my 0-1 steel bar ?

Sure you can rough out parts with a hand grinder and finish to size with files. Although I use my forge to make Damascus steel you can buy it on ebay sometimes at a discount.
There are custom knife makers who never use a forge. The most popular youtube channels are making knives out of terrible steel- cable, ball bearings etc.. This is just for drama and show. No master bladesmith would ever consider wasting their time making a knife out o crap. Start with good steel that will make a great cutting instrument and customize it to your taste. Good luck on your adventure. .
