Cutscene version of the complete banter between Leliana and Sten from Dragon Age: Origins. Created using toolset. #dragonageorigins #dragonageoriginsbanter
Her Holiness Divine Victoria calling the Arishok of the Antaam a softie in front of the Warden-Commander of Ferelden, the King of Ferelden, and the Arcane Advisor to Empress Celene.
See I feel like this is a misconception about Qunari, Bull is charismatic and open minded because he's a spy, he wouldn't fit being a Sten which is why Sten is a Sten. They're different not because one is better or worse at following the Qun but because they have different rolls to fill.
@@sparsehumor7521 But they also describe the Qun somewhat differently, which is probably more a sign of a retcon than differences in character. One of the best examples is Krem, who should definitely not by any means be accepted by the Qun for several reasons, yet the Iron Bull describes this as a situation not unknown to qunari. Which heavily clashes with the idea of no one getting to change their role (less so *identity* ) in the Qun and the prohibition of female warriors.
@@Hawaiian_Pizza_Enjoyer well no. Actually when you look at it (the specific example you gave) what they say doesn't strictly contradict each other. While it was most definitely not originally intended the views Sten has on gender are not contradictory to what bull talks about. Sten gets confused by the idea of female presenting warriors, Bull explains that Krem would fit in just fine under the Qun because they're a male presenting warrior. Gender identity is defined by occupation under the Qun. Sten wouldn't be confused by Krem because he fits into the Qunaris gender restrictions. He is confused by women who are fighters as this breaks from those restrictions. Krem might be breaking his culture's ideas of gender but not the Qun's.
Wynne: Mother/Grandmother Oghren: Weird drunk uncle Sten: Uptight big brother Alistair: whiny middle child Morrigan: rebellious teen daughter Leliana: cheerful little sister Dog: family pet Grey Warden: kid next door and part-time dog sitter Zevran: Quagmire of the neighbourhood Shale: grumpy senior citizen like Clint Eastwood character in Gran Torino
It's just occurred to me I've never heard these because this is one party combination that for some reason or another I never ran with. Used Sten and Leiana plenty, but never at the same time for some reason.
These videos are so enjoyable, that I constantly find myself watching then from time to time, blessed your work on them. Also, Leliana and her "softie" are one of the best things in these wonderful dialogues 😊.
The banter is randomly triggered after every few minutes, mostly in spots far away from NPCs or ambient noises like before exiting an area or in bridges. These scenes in particular are audio ripped from the game and animated by the RUclips channel. There won't be any transitions in-game.
no scenes, this was custom made with mods, but the dialogues are triggered at specific locations or after some events, for exemple the bridge in lothering is a trigger, you can walk back and forth to trigger party dialogue
1:55 Can you Imagine qunari lute rap battles? I don't know what will be more epic. Bars about sleeping with serabas and leering at arishok doughter or when they start swinging lutes like swords.
The Qunari don't like the idea of people breaking out of assigned roles for them So much so that when a role doesn't fit someone they just simply absorb that person into a new role and pretend they always were that It's a bit of a retcon yes but a retcon that follows with an in universe explanation and in universe ideology But at the same time the Qunari harbor an extreme severity of xenophobia They would NEVER allow a non Qunari to be the leader of them, even though the Qun technically says that they can be as all are "equal" under it
I don't remember in dai did they retcon such strong gender specific roles in qunari culture or no? We do have one trans man in bull's crew so that doesn't count I guess, but then we have tallis in da2 dlc
Krem is a man doing a man's job as it's what he's good at and states he's a man doing it. Sten is confused by female characters saying they are a warrior as that is a man's job if that helps at all. It's not biological it's societal for what they define as a man and woman
The qun being supportive of the concept of transgenderism was a lore breaking retcon. They would be the absolute last people to entertain that idea, when you can’t even change your assigned occupation or position within that society. As if the same people who sew the mouths of their mages shut and sedate those with deviant behavior would be open to such mental confusions.
Its actually been interesting, coming back to this game after having transitioned (mtf) and seeing these lines of sten trying to understand the more lax gender norms of the foreign ferelden, and letting down his guard and doing things he himself views as "soft". A change of perspective can help alot of people understand how much of these "life rules" are just made up through our society and culture, and that it's ok to do things that you want to do, even if they dont "mesh" with your gender identity.
The Aqun-Athlok ARE the gender they're living as according to the qun. Sten is a particularly qunari quinari, I'm pretty sure he's having a very hard time grasping the concept of a fighter who is not a man, regardless of who they were born ass. And as for the woman in Trespasser, I'm reasonably certain she was either a priest or ben-hassrath.
Origins is OG canon everything afterwards is retcon and political correctness. They reference Origins in new games for flavor, a plot too big or because they know Origins was the favorite and thus they secure the fandom by including anything related to the OG material. Like how Skyrim and ESO pulled Morrowind DLCs because Morrowind/Daggerfall >>>> The Hobbit movies pulling Legolas into the story, nevermind the plot. Dumbledore romance with Grindelwald being the plot in Fantastic Beasts (a story supposed to break from Harry's story- in this case the story of Dumbledore and the Elder Wand. There a se.x joke here, I just know it) Star Wars referencing original trilogy. So on and so on my point is that every time and IP does this, it means bad juju.
I think it's cause if you're a trans man, you're a man. In reference to Leli, or even Wynne, they are women in the gender sense and yet participate in war, which is considered masculine for the Qunari. The Aqun-Athlok would technically be the gender they transitioned as, so a biologically female Aqun-Athlok that identifies as male is perceived as male and fulfills a masculine role in the Qun. So it's not "women wishing to be male". They, the Qunari, see the Aqun-Athlok as male doing male stuff.

Sten: The flower-picking, cookie-stealing, kitten-playing, softie soldier of the Aantam

And the future Arashok depending on your choices in DA2.

I'm in love with how she says "softie~"
Literally the sole reason I clicked on this video to hear the banter for a third time

hah, indeed
Leilianna blackmailing and teasing Sten is hilarious and fitting.
what blackmailing ?
Sten is like that big brother that questions everyone choice and he hated it lol
Sten has a lot to show to Iron Bull about being Qunari
Yeah, like how to play with Kittens
And steal cookies from portly children lol

Maybe the banter between the two most powerful people now in Thedas. Hope they get to meet in DA4.
