Very neat tool.....bit like one I made......not seen your type before.....works well. Make me realise I need to make my shoe wider.....its only around 1.5 inch at present.....works.....but I have to rotate the tyre a bit in use. Nick in the Uk.
Nice vid and nice design. I made a breaker long ago and I like that the Ken one puts a force toward the rim as it pushes down so the breaker doesn't slide down away from the rim- an issue I have had sometimes with mine.
I have a Harbor Freight tool, and I have come to realize it works great at breaking the bead as well...............as long as the shop that mounted the tire did not use a bead sealer when they mounted the tire. It's like a mild glue which sticks the tire to the wheel. I have used soapy water to help break it loose. After some thought, next time I am going to try some lacquer thinner to break the bond.
I don't know how you plan to remove the tire but if you're going to use tire spoons if you will break the back bead first you won't have to flip the wheel but once
That is the same type I used in the late 60s and I could remove and install a set of tires faster than guys with a manual or air powered machine.I used a 2 foot tire spoon and a 3 foot straight bar and an iron maul with one rubber face. By the time they got the old tire and rim onto the machine and secured with the big nut, I had the old tire off and the new one half on.Everything he did with his hands on the tire, I did with my feet. This tool is 10 times better than the Harbor Freight model and will never bend or break.
Though the simple tool will definitely serve its purpose I noticed some drawback in its safetyness. Would suggest that to prevent the tire from being torn would it be much better if the part of the tool be rubberized-insulated to prevent the tire from tearing.
I show that process in two of my other videos. One with a manual tire changer mounted on a pallet, and one with a vintage coats pneumatic center post tire changer
Dale Ramage I bought this from summit racing. I would Google it and shop around for the best price. In my opinion this too is a must have and makes things alot easier
I bought mine from Summit Racing As they were the best price. I believe Napa may sell them or you can Google it and there are companies that still do sell this.
Wow. Did it go up that much? I paid around $300 shipped. The way i figure is mount and balance around here is about $25 per tire. Switching from summer to winter tires alone would cost me over $200 a year with my two cars. Then there is the time to drop the cars off and wait for a shop to do them. I also buy tires cheap on line, market place or craigslist so there is alot of savings there as well. I have changed tires for my family and friends so this tool was paid for the first year. For some they may not want to be bothered but for me it has been well worth it.
Some of us have the brains and interest to do it ourselves......no point in you watching vids like this one Sir.....paying somebody for every thing is your way.
I can't believe you let us watch you let the air out. Attention spans are short. Also You need more experience with tires. The tire you used was OK because it's a steel wheel that's probably covered with a hubcap. right? So you always start with the backside breaking down 1st the further Away from the drop center. But most people have nice rims and you're going to have to put a blanket a rags or something down to protect it from scratching on the base of the tool. Also with the valve at the 12 o'clock position you do not want to press there most cars have sensors now. This will cost you. You don't want to put it at the 12 o'clock position a band sensor could be there. You wanna break it down at 3 or 9 o'clock. With the valve being 12 o'clock. When you break down the back lube it Before you flip it over. Insert your bars at the valve so you don't break the sensor.
Airing down the tire and removing the valve core is part of the process. Didn't want to skip that step. If you notice in the video the valve stem is at the 6 oclock position and yes it's a steel wheel covered with a hubcap. This type of tool is really not made for fancy wheels although i have used it on my own alloys without scratching anything.

The best machine by far to remove the tire. No need to be mounted, easiest way possible and not very bulky. Expensive, but well worth it.
I agree! You get what you pay for! Thanks for your comment

Really nice bead breaker. Only problem is that in Canada it sells for 950.00. I think I will have to look at something else. Thanks for the demo
Harbor Freight sells a knockoff, ESCO, AME, TSI, Beadbuster...
@@cameronduff884 Thanks for that info

Harbor Freight tire bead breaker is garbage.
I'm assuming this doesn't do well with low profile wheels or thick sidewalls?
Really never used it with those type of tires before. I wouldn't think it'd be an issue as long as you're really careful

Good idea, but never had a tire that this tool damaged.
Generally, if you’re removing a tire it’s because it’s worn and is being replaced, though not always.
How many people have forgotten to air down the tire first?
Now thats a great tool for the DIY'er. Wonder if they make it with a wider throat for larger 4x4 tires and wheels? Thanks for sharing.
That looks like the one I started with in 1965.
Where can I buy 1 of these bead breakers, in canada, ontario, toronto.
Thanks.

Trevor Ridvidd Me too, adjustable one
I was thinking a wall mounted one so you put the tire against the wall, and still pull down to break the bead.
