This song/video was In the apex of creativity Bowie was such a great voice and presence for decades…unmatched. His passing left a deep hole in the art of music. Thank goodness for all he left us… the nostalgia overwhelms me at times thinking back to my young days and even now just peering toward the stars on any given night a tune will come back and hit me like I’m standing there again. And I thank this dude, Mr. David Bowie!
I remember hearing this in high school at my friend's house and I had such a huge crush on him. lol. That voice....ugh. And the kiss in that video. We wished it was us lol. I got to see him on the Glass Spider Tour and I was just in awe the whole first song that I was even in his vicinity. He will always be a legend. No one sounds like him.
One thing great about Bowie, is he’s strange and bizarre. But the magic about it is that he seems totally comfortable with it. It almost seems that we are are not the normal one and he’s laughing at us.
I was in Sydney when this came out and went into a cafe in Kellett St, behind Kings Cross and there she was... ..the model in China girl. She was alone, so I tried talking with her but she was shy and quiet. I don't think she spoke English very well. Glad she made this with Bowie, one of my favorite artists.
Btw, this song turns 40 in a few months, let that sink in! I thought they could have done a better job with the video, even for that day, but this is by far my favorite Bowie song. LET’S DANCE seemed like his first mainstream album that wasn’t reaching for bizarre concepts, and it was also his most successful. Three top 20 hits off that album that I can remember. I loved this song!
I was never overly mad on Bowie, but the Let's Dance album hit the spot for me, I love listening to China Girl in my top 10 of records. If anyone wants too checkout his acting skill watch the film The Man Who Fell to Earth.
Todays Male artists will never fill the gap Cat a different time and place like a Edgar Allan Poe Poem A DREAM WITH A DREAM the clips for China Girl and Lets dance was filmed in Australia in 1983 for his Lets Dance LP.
I agreed when he passed it hurt then to lose Alan Rickman right after. A suggestion pretty poison catch me I'm falling or some other philly bands such as the hooters, john eddie, or tommy conwell and the young rumblers.
David Bowie singing China Girl was the ice cream sundae, Stevie Ray's guitar playing was the cherry on top.
He was a special man. One of a kind. Dearly missed.

That lady in the video is a New Zealand🇳🇿actress of Chinese origin.
She was a beauty indeed.
This video is visually stunning. It has always been one of my faves!

If you like David Bowie, he actually plays Pontius Pilot in "The Last Temptation of Christ".
What???? I used to watch Labyrinth to see him. Now I've got to check it out. Thanks!
@@catsarai-genxrewind5271 it took me a few minutes to realize it was him. Roman hair cut and all.

The Iggy Pop's version is also special. What a talented pair!❤❤
Stevie Ray Vaughn plays guitar on this.
Oh yes he does. He do do that.
The word Legend gets used a lot but in the case of David Bowie , it just goes without saying.......he was , is , and always will be.................
oh this co-written by iggy pop
Stevie Ray Vaughan lead guitar at the end.
Stevie Ray Vaughan on the guitar and Bernie Edwards on the bass... Original version was by Iggy Pop, also great.
heard he recorded this to help Iggy get some royalty money
Bowie was of course special. One of a Kind.
Always a Bowie fan
uuum sept 11. you posted this song ... ya ....pretty interesting choice.
Have you seen version by the song's co-writer, Iggy Pop ?
You are the most beautiful girl on youtube hon... not a simp, okay a bit then, but gosh!
haahaahaaaa david bowie would be immediately cancelled if he were to put this song out today.
Pretty sure Iggy wrote this.
Lyrics by Iggy, composition by Bowie, then this version had riffs and solos added by Nile Rodgers and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
@@chrismeadows4216 And Donald Trump so he says, but i dont believe him.
We really did have the best musicians of all time 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Note that this is the shortened "single" cut of the track. There's a longer version with a less abrupt ending.
I prefer a reaction video, feel a bit cheated that you know this one inside out.
You know he's singing about cocain
Pausing the vídeo is the worst thing
I wish I didn't have to. If not I couldn't post it. ☹
She only does once or twice. Others are ridiculous.
