I've owned an 03 CLK 500 and it has been very reliable and an amazing cruiser. Good combination of power/comfort. Nothing like a V8 rumble in the morning :). My favorite car so far.

After I've sold my clk500 I had an opportunity to buy a clk55, didn't take it and now I regret it because they are way more expensive now than they were a few years ago.

I absolutely love my '04 500CLK, ( I bought it in '07) the only drawback is it goes through tires VERY quickly. I do drive the hell out of it and I love cornering, possibly that contributes.

I have an 2009 alpine white CLK 550 AMG and it turns heads…I upgraded the headlamp to HID Daylight and had the headlamps uv treated. Never had any problems with it and its garage kept… I’ve contemplated upgrading to other models but I just can’t get rid of it… I absolutely love it.
love my CLK 500, it's as fast as I need it to be, comfortable, soooooooooooo agile, everything I ever wanted in a car. I can outrun a mustang with my exhaust open and roaring or I can quietly attend the ballet. My friend once said "you can take it to drag race or a charity ball".... Best car ever!!!

I own a 2006 CLK 500 convertible, it’s always been the best car I’ve ever own, very quite inside and very smooth riding, and lots of power , I’ve owned it many years the only. Trouble I’ve had is the fuel pump failed last year ,so my opinion they Are an excellent vehicle
Right on Bill. CLK500 cab '05 bought 12 years ago for my mid-life crisis. Wanted a 911 but wifey said needed 4 "usable" seats so the kids could come along. Glad I kept her happy because the 911 would have been much more costly to own and maintain. Find a good indy and get proficient with basic maintenance it truly is inexpensive to own. Insuring the CLK500 has been very reasonable over time also. Having a scan tool is good and easy to use in the event you need to look at the computer. The M113 50 engine is a great reliable workhorse. Like a fine wine!
I recently bought a 2005 SL65 AMG (V12 BiTurbo) (r230) and I've already had to repair the ABC and replace the pricey Brembo rotors. But you know what?...totally worth it! I love this car! At 1/10th of MSRP (adjusted for 2005->2019 prices) who can complain? Oh, and I am not scared! LOL
went over a ditch midair cornering a very tight right angle turn and crashed my w209 clk55 into a tree in the front. now all my front suspension is collapsed and i need new control arms, struts, bumper cover, radiator and fan. i know it still runs, because i started it after crashing (dont do that)
Had 3 CLK's, amazing underated cars. I did 96k in 18 months in my first. my last washit side on at 70 miles an hour by a people carrier. Pissed me off no end but I didn't feel a thing, still drove 120 miles home. Looking for another..
I have 3 CLK, 2 over 250k miles and 1 at 193k miles. Very fast and reliable cars, only had to replace a radiator fan and a coolant tank so far. BTW I still race them every time I get challenged lol
we just bought a 2004 with low 82K, in great shape, only issue is the rear bumper clear coat peeling off, I love it, if covid isn't happening, I'd take it out to Monterey/Carmel every weekend.
Hi Bill, I own a 2005 CLK 350 Sport in black is one of the best cars I’ve ever owned, fast quite comfortable, super smooth ride and the drives fantastic well made and the spec is amazing and you can drive it all day and night and feel great after, has a good presence on the road and these are cheap to buy and repair, best car compared to its rivals and one of the best features is the fact that all the windows go down which just makes it so Cool compared to other couples. Would recommend to anyone. Thanks for the great review and yes take the AMG badge off.

I’ve owned a CLK500 since 2005. It’s a wonderful car to own. Right at 90K miles. It’s never been in a repair shop now don’t get me wrong. It’s been in for every service. It’s just that nothing has ever gone wrong with this car. Now I’m thinking about picking up another Mercedes. This time I think I want a E55. My grand daughters are getting older and I want more room for them in the car. Hence the 4 doors and 3 back seats. Although the middle back seat is pretty small. 2 more doors would really help...

I've bought 2 recently both with fsh etc first one was from a garage and was sluggish nothing worked 320, rejected it. Went and bought another one like in the video.. 2005 clk320 gearbox jumping into neutral at hard acceleration white sludge on the coolant cap. Oil leak all over the drive... cant take it back... was told by a garage torque converter was leaking head gasket gone.. took to another garage who nipped up the breathers stopped the leak no oil in coolant it was a broken cap..... picked the csr up its like a different car:) they are nice

10:01 AND - the folded forward seatbacks have a STEEL panel facing into the trunk. When both rear seats are folded this way, you have the room of a hatchback. It's quite roomy for cargo.

And oh the irony, as he recorded this on the eve of an orgy of Fear And Misery that none of us would have believed possible...
I bought a 320 clk and I had it for about a year before I accidently leaned the secret storage compartment next to the glove box to discover it. My car has 177k on the clock and is completely shagged out...SRS warning light comes on every time someone sits in the passenger seat and turns off when they are gone, air con doesn't work, no hot air for the first half hour, sat nav is missing and replaced by some knackered radio which means the clock dosen't work, driver seat only goes back but not forward, trunk leaks so bad that I keep buckets in the back to collect the water, engine has three oil leaks and the smell comes into the cabin, half the air vents don't work, windows steam up if anyone dares to breath, headlight lenses are almost yellow, head-rests don't work............................BUT...........I don't care because the seat belt is handed to me and both front and rear windows still work! And nothing looks as cool as a pillarless coupe! The end.

Very nice car! I love the look of the SL, but I imagine to repair that roof will be alot alot!!! The CL is awesome, but could prove expensive to repair any item that goes bad!? The E 500 is also a very very nice executive luxurious car! But this CLK500 is a nice mix of all! But I really like the 2003 CL500! It's like shopping for bread, too much choice! How does the CLK500 compare with the W211 E500? I just drove a low mileage 2005 E500 4matic and was surprised by the ride comfort and tight solid quality feeling. Does the CLK offer the same level of ride quality or does it feel less robust?
Mine's only a 200 Kompressor, had it 14 years, still looks gorgeous. Repair bills? Sure they aren't cheap but they aren't ruinous either. My tip: use a reliable, personally recommended mechanic, he will save you much more money than someone cheap.
I have one of these in the Avantgarde trim. Really like it. Very smooth and comfortable. Engine mounts cost a lot to replace but other than that reasonable running costs. I dislike the interior controls. Too fiddly and you have to take your eyes off the road for too long to find and adjust some things.
Great cars just grabbed one , but iam handy had some negletiion , a Icarsoft 980 was a great tool to sort out all the codes and warnings. easy straight forward car to work on , great era before they got complicaed
I got a clk 200K c208 and it has always been very well maintained but the door seals DO leak air and water through the frameless windows so the engineers didn't get it all right after all, and the repair costs are 2500 euros (3000 US dollars) per year. Imagine it costs 200 euros just to have the 4 spark plugs changed. Now imagine it on an 8 cylinder, that would cost double that amount. Maybe in the US it is cheaper🤷🏻♂️

I have a CLK 430. love it. Parts are cheaper for that car than my 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe believe it or not.

I bought my 2004 CLK55 AMG with 99,000 miles for $5000 two years ago and I love it. It’s a bit of a gas hog but I knew that before buying it.

My car has 177k on the clock and is completely shagged out...SRS warning light comes on every time someone sits in the passenger seat and turns off when they are gone, air con doesn't work, no hot air for the first half hour, sat nav is missing and replaced by some knackered radio which means the clock dosen't work, driver seat only goes back but not forward, trunk leaks so bad that I keep buckets in the back to collect the water, engine has three oil leaks and the smell comes into the cabin, half the air vents don't work, windows steam up if anyone dares to breath, headlight lenses are almost yellow, head-rests don't work............................BUT...........I don't care because the seat belt is handed to me and both front and rear windows still work! And nothing looks as cool as a pillarless coupe! The end.

Yup, 7-speed starts in 05 for the CLK500.
Ryan N didn’t know that, I own a 2005 CLK55 which still has that slow 5 speed. Would’ve assumed they kept that in the 550 for the same year. Would love to have the 7 speed if it wasn’t for the reliability of the 5 speed

Very nice car! I love the look of the SL, but I imagine to repair that roof will be alot alot!!! The CL is awesome, but could prove expensive to repair any item that goes bad!? The E 500 is also a very very nice executive luxurious car! But this CLK500 is a nice mix of all! But I really like the 2003 CL500! It's like shopping for bread, too much choice! God, why is life so hard?

How does the CLK500 compare with the W211 E500? I just drove a low mileage 2005 E500 4matic and was surprised by the ride comfort and tight solid quality feeling. Does the CLK offer the same level of ride quality or does it feel less robust?
Mine's only a 200 Kompressor, had it 14 years, still looks gorgeous. Repair bills? Sure they aren't cheap but they aren't ruinous either. My tip: use a reliable, personally recommended mechanic, he will save you much more money than someone cheap.

I have one of these in the Avantgarde trim. Really like it. Very smooth and comfortable. Engine mounts cost a lot to replace but other than that reasonable running costs. I dislike the interior controls. Too fiddly and you have to take your eyes off the road for too long to find and adjust some things.

I got a clk 200K c208 and it has always been very well maintained but the door seals DO leak air and water through the frameless windows so the engineers didn't get it all right after all, and the repair costs are 2500 euros (3000 US dollars) per year. Imagine it costs 200 euros just to have the 4 spark plugs changed. Now imagine it on an 8 cylinder, that would cost double that amount. Maybe in the US it is cheaper🤷🏻♂️
