    I played this at my senior recital, back in 1968. I practiced it for three years! I just got chills hearing it again.

    Im an atheist but love religious music. I do believe that a higher power gave pipe organ designers and builders the talent to build these wonderful and powerful instruments, not to mention the talented people like Dr Weir who can play them with impunity

    • @DavidSmith-sb2ix
      @DavidSmith-sb2ix 4 года назад +1

      You may not be as much an atheist as you think. You are correct in your statement though. I only wish that higher power wouldn't have been so stingy when it gave me my organ playing ability.

    Dr. Weir… only you can know how beautifully you played "Tu Es Petra." Your use of the power and true dynamics of the pedals was equal to / or better than… Virgil Fox. Personally I voter, "better than." Both of you created flare…" inferi non ". Virgil used this realization early in his career and at times more dramatically, but you used it more according to the Mulet's score.
    Personally, I think Music is in the ear… not on the page. Bravo, Dr. Weir. !! Every thing I've heard you play or seen you do on television… or RUclips is of the highest quality. Your humble servant, CVD

      Charles Davis To play at this tempo to me is frankly ridiculous, and I didn't rate Virgil Fox either, however his version of Come Sweet Death is absolutely delicious.

    The camera work is terrific as is the audio. If you want to get the color better if can be done. The red tint is off and needs to be bit brighter. But still stunning!

      A slightly crude comment but VERY true. How could an organist this talented not get a sexual frisson playing this piece so well on such a powerful instrument. I get one just listening to it VERY loudly! Wonderful. I get the same thrill when listening to sopranos hitting top c also loudly. BRRRR , SHUDDER and GOOSE pimples aplenty. Excellent!

      am an organist and I play Tu es Petra. No acoustics in the church to play at this speed otherwise it's very bad. Stephen Tharp is better!!

  • @syhooverman5418

    Sheffields cathedral organ is crap. City Hall organ WAY better. Im amazed she agreed to waste her superb talent on such a mediocre instrument, however we all enjoyed her performance. Says a lot about her talent though getting the best out of a mediocre instrument.

      As a performer, you rarely get to choose. They ask you and you agree. It is your job to make the best of it.
