My roommate took 2 hour showers, even came out and would take a water break, then go back.
my roommate and her boyfriend would have hours long shower sex escapades, it was terrible. None of us wanted to use the shower after them. But we only had one bathroom so there was little choice. I had to tell a professor I was late to class because of them once. He was sympathetic thankfully 😂

Lol I’m like the perfect person to live with. I can even sleep through blaring music but I take insanely long showers, 2 or 3 hours. They would even be longer if I wasn’t rushing the whole time. Good thing I live alone for now 😂

Freshman year, I was roomed with a random roommate. She was cool, sorority type, I was not. But we got along fine. We basically split the room in half and had her bed lofted. I recently took my loft down so my bed was on the floor. One night, my then boyfriend and I were sleeping in my bed and I wake up trying to stretch my legs out and I can't, there's something in my way. I sit up and find my roommate passed out drunk and curled up like a cat at the foot of my bed. I wake up my boyfriend and we walk across campus at 3 in the morning to his dorm. When I came back to my room, my roommate had made my bed, put little chocolate candies on it and left a note saying "I am so sorry! Please forgive me!!!". Later that day, she asked if I would help her deloft her bed.

My roommate attacked me in my sleep. On a separate occasion, she threatened to kill me with a hunting knife. So that was terrible, but then again, my friend's roommate built a bomb in their dorm room bathroom and the entire building had to be evacuated. Both of these roommates are out there in the world blending in with everyone else. Beware of the night strangler and the bathroom bomber.

Had a roommate in college that was anorexic and would hide all the food I bought so she wouldn’t be tempted to eat it. I made brownies one day, and she was so angry that she threw the brownies on my door and threatened to kill me if I ever made something sugary again. Needless to say, I got my deposit back and moved out.

I’m not anorexic, but my mother tries to make me not eat sugary foods (not allergic or anything like that). She’s just like a huge health nut and hates to see sugary foods. I still sneakily eat them though.
I'm in college now and my roommates are the worst! Every morning I have to get them up and make them get dressed for class and make breakfast. They leave stuff laying around all the time for me to trip on, I have to do all the cooking and cleaning and they even make me help them with their assignments. I mean c'mon they're 8 & 5 and they're my kids but still... 😂

My freshman year, I had two roommates, H and K, and they got along really well but didn't get along very well with me. It was kind of annoying, but I had other friends so I thought I'd be okay. A few months in, H started asking me "hey, have you seen my sweater/skirt/money from my wallet/etc?" and I would always say no. Then she and K go to the RA and say I've been STEALING ALL OF H'S STUFF! Luckily, I was friends with the RA so she didn't believe them. We had no idea what happened to H's stuff until the NEXT YEAR, when K was rooming with a different girl, and that girl's stuff started disappearing! K WAS STEALING FROM H THE WHOLE TIME AND BLAMING ME I COULD HAVE BEEN EXPELLED FOR IT

Turns out my freshmen year roommate was basically on her rumspringa. She would call her mom at three am (not sure why her Amish mom has a cell phone) and SCREAM at her about how miserable I was and how she hated me. One night she got super drunk and locked herself out of the room. Woke up practically the whole hall screaming and pounding on the door for me to open up. She moved out about a month later, right before Christmas break. Thank god for that! Also, she thought that gay people and African American people only existed in movies 🙄 she was bizarre.
The thinking that African Americans and gay people only exist in movies is kind of funny but mostly sad that she was that removed from the world

I've known a lot of folks who came from super isolated/conservative religious backgrounds, including a couple of former Amish, and they all knew gay people and black people were real when they entered the mainstream world. Not even knowing those groups of people are real is a whole next level of crazy.
I had two roommates, a guy and a girl (we rented an apartment off campus) and the girl would act very nice and sweet whenever I was there and like a total psycho on the weekends I went home. I'm sure of this because I had mutual friends with both my roommates and they always had the same story to tell when I got back, this chick would come out of her room "for a glass of water" NAKED around the guy roommate and his guests, and one time my guy roommate called me and I could hear her screeching at him in the background. The final straw was when we caught her doing cocaine with her friend in the hall closet, so we gave her an ultimatum, break your contract and leave or deal with the police.

Please don't hesitate to report stuff that is plain not ok. As someone who had a nightmare roommate, then became an RA, the residence staff can help. I wouls suggest going straight to the Residence Director rather than the RA for more serious matters.
One resident had an issue with her roommate's boyfriend living in the room fulltime and being disrespectful, and we were able to get him out of the room and set that other roommate straight. One girl had an issue with her roommate because that roommate moved her mother in after her mother became homeless. I feel bad for the mother, but that doesnt mean the contract others in the room signed can't be upheld. Again we were able to remove the mother and get her in contact with a local shelter.
My own roommate trashed the room and blamed me, but luckily i had informed staff that i i wouldn't be on the premises for a 2 week period when it happened. I was able to be moved into a room with an amazing roommate.
Please, don't be afraid to speak up for yourself.
Tbh the mother one was inhumane. If the mother didn't hurt or bother anyone then that was heartless to report.

@@ithilgreenleaf8184 Incorrect. Residence halls are not apartment buildings. There's a lot of legality in what goes on and who can be the and what they can do while they're there. Moving an unaccounted for person into a building filled with hundreds of students would put the school at risk for a bunch of reasons, least of which being that hundreds of signed contracts are being broken. At least they helped the woman find help, cause they were within their rights to call the police for trespassing and squatting.
Hah, "incorrect", nobody asked if it was a right or wrong answer. It's inhumane, that's that, regardless of legality of the situation.

I’m so glad I got the coolest roommates. We have busy schedules and don’t like to party. We also like to keep the apartment clean and we share food amongst each other. It helps that we are all mature too and help each other out.

So I go to a university in Korea and my roommate only speaks Korean (keep in
mind I can speak korean but I'm not fluent) so it's in the evening and we went to a restaurant to get something to eat we come back and start eating and he ask me( in korean) do you have a boyfriend? And I said no but it will be nice to have one (one in korean sounds similar to the word you) after I said that not realizing my mistake he kept smiling . And tbh he was kinda cute . So some time later we were studying when all of a sudden he starts to stare at me we locked eyes for about a minute and he grabbed my hands .He then caught me off guard and kissed me .

My roommate was legit crazy. She would steal everything even our underwear. I was in the shower she was in the one next to me. I go to wash my hair and my shampoo isn't there. She says" here borrow mine" and hands me my OWN SHAMPOO from under the stall!.... She wasn't one of our original roommates. Her old ones requested she get transferred out and since we only had 3 she got put in our room.

One of my roommates was so dirty that instead of washing her dishes, she should just leave them in the sink and buy new ones. When no more dishes fit in the sink, she threw them all away and bought more! She should have at least bought disposable dishes.

Yeah, the sink got so nasty that the rest of us couldn't use the sink and it was gross in there. I think she was hoping one of us would wash them for her (one girl would but she moved out and the rest of us would not touch her nasty dishes). When we asked her to wash them and keep the sink clean, she literally went to Target to get trash bags, she filled the bag with dirty dishes and she left the bag in the kitchen, and of course, then she bought more dishes!!! She was very innocent and naive looking. My guess is, she never had to do anything for herself at home and she was hoping we'd clean up after her.

My freshman year roommate cooked ramen noodles in the microwave for THIRTY MINUTES.... everything I owned smelled like smoke and burned noodles :) and she’d stay up till 5 am with the lights on and slamming the closet doors :)

I had a roommate that would peel fruits around the kitchen and leave all of the remains on the floor. It would start to rot and become stuck on the floor whenever me and my other roommates would leave for the weekend. It got so bad one point where her fruit bowl in her room had maggots growing. Before she ate it, she saw the bugs crawling on her hands and she fainted on the floor. We had to pull her out of the room and clean up everything. I also had another roommate whose bf stayed during winter break and left the heater in the bathroom on. The electric bill was so expensive, and when I touched the sink--it burnt my hand because of how hot it was. I had another roommate who stared at my other roommate's phone and memorized her phone password so she could read through all her private messages when she was asleep.

My roomates had brought in four cats off the street. They would not spend any money on medical Bill's for these cats. They also would not bath the cats. One cat had been neglected and had eye problems, I would clean out the infection the best I could, even if this was not my cat. Well, they all had fleas, because of this I was forced to live in this flea infestation for about a month, I believed they would take care of it. I got the landlord involved, they got kicked out and have been slandering me on facebook because I "forced animal" to come take their cats away. But since they left the exterminator obviously came into take care of the apartment, and in thirty years said this was one of the worst cases. The fleas all four cats had, spread to the entire building in this time. Almost all rooms were flea bombed, offices, and this was in a five floor building with about 200 people living here with other animals.

My roommates completely isolated me for no reason. They made jokes about cancer when my mom was fighting for her life against metastatic breast cancer that broke her back and many other horrible things. They would talk in our living room all the time but as soon as I came in they would all leave. They were also really messy but blamed the messes on me. They were just all awful people. Made my senior year stink. And the weird thing was we were all really good friends up to senior year.

He called himself Duncan McCloud; he spoke with a fake Scottish accent; he acted out scenes as Duncan; he wore a trench coat (no matter the weather); and carried a katana every time he left the house. He would leave the house (sword & all) to “patrol” the streets of the rural, Central Pennsylvania VILLAGE we lived in.

My ex roommate called the cops on me because I sprayed Febreze in the room and claimed I tried to kill her with acid. And then claimed I was the reason she wasn’t doing so great in school even though I was asleep every time she was to enter the room

I had this roommate who would only eat instant noodles literally everyday, twice a day coz he couldn’t cook anything. I felt so bad for him so I cooked for him too. But after several times I was feeling so sucked and stopped doing that coz he would never help me to wash the pan, the wok, or anything, not even his own plate.
He would yelling, angry, and complaining so bad whenever I cough or sneeze, I think he hated the voice but I was like how could I even control it when I’m sick.
The weirdest thing I found about him was on one summer day in Arizona, the temperature was over 100F outside. I was napping and awaken coz I felt so freakin hot. It turned out that he turned on the heater to a very hot setting and He wasn’t even at home. Oh god

I was woken up by cops at 4AM on a Thursday morning three weeks into my freshman year bombarded with questions about my roommate while they kept trying to look for scissors. I was sat down by the RA and was pit in charge of knowing where my roommate was as pretty much all times. To this day, I have no idea what happened that night, and no one has been required to tell me. I have a lot of stories from this roommate. She was sweet, but she had a LOT of undiagnosed mental issues that I was took look after her for. I barely knew her before we were roommates, and I didn’t get to know her very well. It was all so weird.

I left my dorm for an hour came back to see that she had somehow flooded the sink, broke the dishwasher, and left the entire kitchen floor covered in 3 inches of water. The water ended up being shut off in the entire building for 8 hours.

The summer before college, I found a girl who was also finding a roommate for the same dorm, we talked, had similar interests and mentioned we are not super clean but it would be decent/ livable. She ends up being a total slob, snacking on her bed, having rotting food, and leaving her clothes everywhere to the point that anyone who came to our room would automatically say “Whoa!” when they saw her side of the bed. One day, I printed something out with our shared printer, and in the corner of my eye, I see a USED, UNWRAPPED pad in the trash. The bathroom was 2 feet from our room. Like seriously!! She’s forever known as pad girl among my friends.
Snacking on your bed isn't a bad thing. Just make sure to not get crumbs on it and if you do just clean it up. Also, if she had wrapped the pad up with toilet paper or something, that would be understandable, but just laying there unwrapped, that's gross 🤢
One of my roommates was so bad at doing anything for herself. She would go to the store very often for groceries but she never put them away. The food would just rot in the grocery bags, usually in the living room where she left them. Our bedroom was a mess with her clothes covering all of the floor. I asked her to keep her mess to her side of the room. She just had mountains on clothes on her side. She ended up getting lice and I was able to at least get a break from living with her while she was quarantined for treatment.

My roommate left like five months into the school year so I was alone for the rest of the year, then I got roomed with this lovely girl who just sort of kept to herself throughout uni. It was great.
My freshman year roommate dropped out after 10 days ish but boy there are some stories to be told. She would spray her teddy bear with her boyfriend’s axe every night, my room smelled like a 2009 frat boy named Chad for the rest of the semester. She would play Minecraft and fortnite with a headset every night, no biggie, but she would loudly scream at her internet friends to the point where I went and apologized to our neighbors one night because I knew they weren’t getting any sleep. While we’re on the topic of sleep, she didn’t do it. She’d drink monsters or Mountain Dew at all hours of the night and then wonder why she couldn’t get to sleep.One day she complained about her voice lessoner (sorry I don’t know the proper terminology) suggested she learned how to read music ( she was a music minor) for three whole hours. Oh and I didn’t find out she was dropping out until that morning when she was like by the way I’ll need some help moving out😂 and she let her alarm go off at 6 am and play the whole song, but when I’d leave at 7:45 for class she’d still be in bed.
My roommate was exactly the same just that instead of games she was addicted to korean movies and dramas and would scream in korean at the top of her voice at 4am, spoke hindi in korean accent(she's not a native korean speaker). Never studied then wondered why she failed and threw a tantrum for it after every exam

I used to live in a small room with three girls, and one night I woke up to find myself not being able to breath. It turned out that one of the girls just smoked A LOT in her bed and didn't even open the window, so the whole room was filled with smoke. Also, that girl ate from our dishes and didn't wash them, didn't do the chores and talked to the phone at night.
We told it to our dorm commandant and soon she got kicked, but living with her was hell.
Laura had gone through 4 roommates in 2 years. I wish someone had told me in advance. She always prattled on about how she was a good Catholic virgin but clearly she and her boyfriend had "loopholes" which meant, I slept in the hallway if I wanted to sleep at all. I slept in the hall 4-5 nights per week. Finally I wrote her a note, reminding her that we were not Co-Ed and threatening to report her to Housing if he didn't stop sleeping over (the RA was her friend, so no luck there). I came back to my room to find a cop in it, holding several items of Laura's that she had planted on my side of the room. The cop didn't buy it, neither did Housing. She was offered a single because no one wanted to deal with her after that. To Laura, my roommate from 2001: I hope that all of your students (you were in Elementary Ed) know that you never washed your hands once after using the bathroom in the dorms, and the whole building knew it.

I got seven roommates while in the college time. It's very nice at the beginning, but you know, when people getting know more about each other, then it's not gonna be alright!! One of my roommates got a very bad habit that is she used my or other roommates skin care products without letting somebody know. It was like take it for granted. The most awkward moment was I caught her while she's doing it. And I felt awkward, and don't know what to do. Since that, I have to put all my things in to my drawer or my bed...

Because Colleges and Universities love to make as much money as they can from students. In my University it costs just over $3000 per semester per student to live on campus if you are from the state that the university is located in. So my roommate and I are paying over $6000 a semester to live in one room. If you want room all by yourself you have to pay extra money.

Sky Raven some colleges build financial aid packages based on the student living on campus. If the student moves off campus and becomes a commuter, they could lose a big portion of their financial aid (scholarship/grant).
Not just Americans though, a lot of countries do this. You have to pay more if you want a bigger room/room to yourself. The cheapest room in my uni doesn't have its own toilet. Theres a common bathroom for people who rent the cheapest ones.
I have two roomates. They wake me up at 6 am so I will feed them every morning. They also don't like being left alone so they follow me everywhere!!! And they are so loud and get really excited when they meet new people. Oh, and they have peed on the floors and one of my roomates threw up ON ME! I love my dogs ❤❤❤
I went to a bible college and one of my roommates didn’t talk to me, just ignored me the entire time. Even told me to not talk to her until after lunch, so I got a new roommate after her. She was a 16 year old who thought she’d get away with cocaine in our dorm room..at a bible college with actual rules. She lasted three weeks. The RA felt bad so she didn’t put another girl with me for the rest of the year. The next year, my roommate was genuinely awesome, aside from the fact that she was hopelessly in love with a guy 13 years older than her and showed no interest. She moved after a year🤷🏽♀️

i had my own room. many people were grateful. souls were spared.
So ok, there was this suite that I lived in with 3 other girls. We all were quite friendly with each other and everything was going great. One day, one of the girls tell us that her parents don't love her anymore. We were like "why, what happened?" She tells us that she had a sister who ran away with her boyfriend. When her sister came back home, their parents were really angry. We talk to her about it, she's fine and we go to bed. In the middle of the night, I hear loud banging coming from the bathroom. I wake the others up and they hear it too. We go to the bathroom and see her BANGING her head on the wall. We get super scared and tell the teacher. She even had cuts on her hands made from razors or something.
Few days later, she has been removed from the college. Turns out, everything she told was fake and she just wanted to get some attention. Lol.
My boyfriend in college had a roommate who would frequently sit naked in the bath with the curtain drawn, bathroom door open and lights off, drinking a bottle of jim beam. So you always had to check the tub when you used the bathroom. This dude was also obsessed with nascar and headbutted a huge hole in the wall once, completely sober.

So I once had this roommate when I was much younger and she was TERRIBLE 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 she was an absolute mess!!! She cried all of the time, she always took my stuff without asking and when I got it back it often came back in a wet/broken condition😭 she was smelly all the time and just an absolutely need girl that CRAVED attention 🙄🙄🙄 finally a few years later I was able to get my own room away from my crazy roommate... until she started to break into my room and sleep in my bed EVERY night😑😑😑 what’s more crazy is that we keep in contact everyday😓😓😓 sometimes I wish my sister would get her own room 😂😂😂

My brother’s roommate used to come home shitfaced, drink a glass of milk and leave it on the counter and in the morning completely forget and get mad at everyone saying they were slobs. He was also the only one in the dorm who drank milk.
Oh my god, these weren't too bad. I literally had an emotionally manipulative roommate who practically used me and my friend and had me believe I was the one doing everything wrong and she would bring all her problems with her boyfriend to our apartment and the other roommates didn't like her so they kinda avoided me because they thought I liked her and she basically moved with her boyfriend but she said she would pay my friend back for all the rides my friend gave her to her boyfriend's and when I asked her boyfriend for it since she wasn't answering her phone, her boyfriend threatened to rip me apart if I spoke badly of her again, especially because she was better than me and my friend.
Also, my other roommates think they're super entitled and literally blame me and my sister (who's my roommate) for everything. Like one of them broke their legs and practically moved their mom in without asking me and my sister and I need the AC because we overheat easily and the apartment warms up quickly since my college is in a desert and they'll turn it off automatically because it hurts her or they're not used to it. Like they wont let us use it at all. And we recently furnished our apartment which they can use the stuff but they're like wanting to move it all for their own stuff and they're making it a big deal. And if something is where they dont want it to be, they'll move it. They make big deals out of nothing, it's annoying as hell. Like I'm uncomfortable in my own room.

A girl and I started to be good friends and we decided to become roommates, everything was fine the first couple of months and then... she started tu straight her hair (like my hair) she started tu use makeup (she never used makeup before in her life) aaaan finally she died her hair blue (I had blue hair at the moment) she was starting to creep me out, she would ask me where I was going every time and it was really creepy! We don’t talk anymore.

My roommate started normal we made an agreement at the start of the year that if people were going to be over that we would warn the each other in advance, a few weeks into living together she met a boy who lived on the boys side of the hall and they started going out and she would rarely come back to the room outside of necessity like clothes and materials for class. The horror story is that a few weeks after Sandy hit campus I would notice her projects in the middle of the room being left for days like that and then she would randomly start coming back to the room really late at night with the boyfriend crawl into bed and go to sleep (by the way it was a small two person room with no where to hide from her and her boy-toy). I used to wake up to them just suddenly there which would have been fine if I was wearing normal clothes to sleep rather than a tank and soccer shorts and no bra. Then came the nights where it looked like she was staying with him and I would just do my projects late into the night on my side of the room with only my desk lamp until she comes waltzing in at 2:00 AM with the boy-toy telling me to turn off the light or go to the lounge because he can't sleep with MY desk lamp on while I do MY homework in OUR room. We no longer talk and they boy-toy is still with her so yay!! You guys made it to 9 years woo but you were a sh** roommate.
The last horror story, i just realized that roommate was my co-worker
My first roommate in college came home messed up on crack at 3 am and attacked me in my sleep. Luckily she was only like 80 pounds and my other roomates who were still awake pulled her off me. I had to literally escape barefoot to another dorm to sleep for the night. Someone else called the cops because she screamed so much. She never apologized and we never spoke of it again. She also had her boyfriend move into our room who didn't even attend our college. He was nicer then she was 😂. She also turned the thermostat to its lowest setting (54 F) every day so my other roommates and I had to break the buttons with it set on 68.
Ok. They are unpleasant but definetely not the most terrible stories I have heard.
Some of these people are so passive. The instance I feel I’m being disrespected in a place I spent thousands to be in and relax in, it’s a no from me. I’m not always at a 100, but I sure can be pushed to be.

One of my college roommate never flushed the toilet, yes even after pooping. One time, she blocked the toilet, don’t even ask how! We weren’t allowed to ‘choose’ roommates in our college hostel, so we all ending up enduring the ‘no flushing’ girl for a whole year.

My first dorm roommate in college seemed to like me a lot at first. The first week together was great, we were sure we would get along swimmingly. However, I went to an orientation BBQ during orientation week and got the worst food poisoning I’ve ever had. I was 18, first time being away from home for so long and first time being that sick without someone to help take care of me. Not only was I miserable for two days but my roommate informed me she had a phobia of vomiting (that she’d apparently gone to therapy for) and she refused to sleep in our dorm room for WEEKS after I was sick because “she could still smell the puke” 😒 regardless of the fact that I had cleaned the dorm room from top to bottom multiple times because I felt so guilty for getting sick... our dynamic was never the same after that. She started yelling at me for the smallest things, like “brushing my hair too loud” while she was napping 🤨 by thanksgiving break she asked me to move out because she could not get over my food poisoning incident but by that point I happily agreed.
So happy I have my own room I couldn’t deal with that.

We had 4 single rooms but then a common area including a shower, toilet, kitchenette and living area. One of my suitmates would (and I found this out the last two weeks of the year that we spent together) take a dump, in the shower and proceed to stomp it down the toilet. Thankfully I had been wearing shower shoes that whole year... but damn.... that was absolutely revolting
My roomate and I were really good friends but when I got other friends she got mad she would rip,break,and destroy my stuff and put broken glass on my bed on mutiple occasions it was scary

My worst college roommate story: freshman year I became a christian and well, funny enough my roommate was a lesbian. Our room at the time was just one big shared space with two twin bed on opposite ends of the room. Anyway, one day her friend kicked me out of my own room cuz my roommate was going have "company". I left and then texted her if she was done. My roommate said she was done and I proceeded to come back and crash out on my bed. Next thing I know I hear moaning... and I realized that it wasn't my roommate but her "guest". They were going at it!!!! I let them finished, and I told them they were loud. The next morning my roommate ditched her one night stand for a morning class. my roommate dumped her on me so I can take care of her. the girl was pretty chill though we went to go eat breakfast together. 😂

I was a horrible roommate. I had moved 5 hours from home for university. I couldn’t afford to go there in the first place so I had to get a job. Working a full time job and taking 30 hours was so mentally and physically straining. I always ignored my roommates-pretended like they didn’t exist. After the first 2 months of being there I stopped talking to everyone. I even slept with the professors aide for my psych class. I was making bad decisions and barely going to class. It was hard, but I’m so happy that I decided to drop out and take a year off.
