I love Princes mid range vocal and I love the arrangement here. After a full concert and way into the encore I think he delivers. As an ex singer myself I appreciate the wear and tear of the voice through a long gig that one can experience, and Prince displays that slightly but that to me is the authenticity of a live artist. Anyone commanding vocal excellence should go and watch opera. I prefer this to the original, the melancholy, the vulnerability and also the will of his vocal. Bravo Prince! Encore!

He has sung all night. The concert and this is his fourth encore so his voice is a little strained. This is a particularly melodic song to sing but I love it and you know anything Prince sings is heartfelt.

I have seen this before and while I love Prince and he is my favorite artist of all time, I really do not like this. The original is better. It's also interesting that he did covers at this concerts considering how he felt about others covering his music.

Gotta keep it real here.... I think his vocal here is way below par. The transitions out of falsetto really grate on me. He seems to fall out of them into head voice and it isn't at all a smooth vocal. The band are of course fantastic. And Prince is enough of a professional that he can make a standard song interesting. His mannerisms and inflections means there is always something here to latch on to. But hand on heart, I don't like the performance and I thought it wasn't a great encore to end the Forum show with. That bluray starts slow, takes a while to build up into gear, hits a great stride at the end, and then has this as a fairly limp encore sadly.
I was just sitting and thinking should I or not... Thank you "Den ensamme vandraren" for giving me the realease. I think this is medioker performance(Standards are milehigh with this chap). Correct me if I´m wrong but I´m getting a feal that in the later days these things happened sometimes(we dont talk about it). I just get sad. That just because this old chump(me) have so high expectations. And as you pointed proffesionalism and talent kan make up for much but...

Judging by the comments on this one, you aren't alone in your assessment, a lot of people feel the same way. I liked the original version, but I preferred this version... but I'm also thinking that Princes vocals on a bad day would smoke mine on my very best exceptional day lol

I was at this concert at The Forum. And, being a massive fan of both Prince and Roxy Music, I do NOT like Prince's cover of "More Than This", musically or vocally. For me Prince wasted his time doing as many covers as he insisted on doing live. "Play That Funky Music" is the most annoying because he played it at many, many shows and again, it's not HIS music. For someone with as massive a song catalogue as Prince had, he drove me nuts with the many, many covers he did through the years live. An example of TOO MANY COVERS is also his Superbowl half time. Excellent performance yes but his song selection ruined it for me. Too many Covers and THREE songs from the Purple Rain soundtrack. Are you kidding me? Ridiculous. I wish someone in An interview would've asked him while he was alive why he played so many covers of other artist's songs live when it annoyed him if others covered HIS songs? Was he bored of his own material? I just don't get it and never will. What he didn't seem to understand (or care) is that when most went to see him live THEY WANTED HIM TO PLAY HIS MUSIC!!! Of course they enjoyed the covers because THEY HAD NO CHOICE. If they had a choice though, I guarantee they wouldn't want to hear covers.
